Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have a great week - it's been around -25 degrees this whole week and my husband's car broke down, so we've been hunkered down inside avoiding the cold as much as possible!

The highlight of this week of course was Christmas! I'm a huge Christmas person and our holiday was so great! We spent Christmas Eve with Mitch's family and had a great night and Christmas morning was amazing - the boys loved their gifts and did so well. My husband had to work, but then my family came over and we had an amazing crab leg dinner and it was great! 

Quarterly Reading Wrap-up - October to December 2021 & A Yearly Recap

Time for a little recap on all the books I've read in the last quarter a little recap of the best and worst!

Reading has clearly taken over as my most time-consuming hobby, and I've enjoyed incorporating more book content on the blog! So I thought I would recap all the books I read in the final quarter of the year - there were 26 of them (33 in the first quarter, 28 in the second quarter, and 30 of them in the third quarter). My original goal was to read at least 60 books through the whole year and I crushed that, so I upped it to 100 books for the year, and I certainly surpassed this goal this read by reading a total of 117 books in 2021! 

Reflections of 2021 ~ Yearly Recap

Happy 2022 everyone! Wow, 2021 was a year to remember - can you believe we made it through a whole year of a pandemic?! It's been a long year to say the least with a lot of back and forth on restrictions and waves of covid - it's a lot! So, I hope you know that however you made it through this year, you are doing great! I've been up and down with how I've been dealing because I'm really hoping the end is in sight, but it's been a long time in this pandemic. 

I'm a super nostalgic person and I love looking back a moments in time and remembering how it was and picturing myself back there (this is why I'm a big scrapbooker too!), and despite dealing with a pandemic, there was some really amazing moments from this year! 

Project Pan 21 in 2021 ~ Final Update #6

I have really enjoyed working on a project pan last year, it really made me enjoy using up older products in my collection, so I was excited to start a new project pan in 2021 - I am hoping to use up or hit pan on 21 products in 2021! I will again, be focusing on all makeup products as I am pretty good about working through my skincare products.

I started the project off with the first 10 products and was going to treat this like a rolling project - once I reach my goal, I will add a new product to the mix! On my first update, I reached my goal on 1 product, then with the second update, I finished another 2, my third update I finished another 4 products, in my fourth update I finished 1 more product, and in my fifth update I finished another 3 products! So, going in to this final update, I have hit my goal on 11 products, and had 10 more to go! (I have to be honest though, I lost all steam on this project this month and did not add in new products and just worked on finishing what I had).

I'm a big fan of Cherie Dimaline - she is an Indigenous Canadian author and I've really enjoyed her writing style. She wrote The Marrow Thieves in 2017 - it is a young adult dystopian novel and it is set in a future where the world has been ravaged by global warming and people have lost the ability to dream - the only people left with the ability to dream are Indigenous people and the cure potentially lies in their bone marrow, but this means death for the unwilling donor, so Indigenous people are being hunted and we follow a young man, and a group of people who are on the run and trying to find their loved ones.

Myself, like a ton of people have been waiting to see if they would be doing a Nightmare Before Christmas and I was so excited when they announced it! This was released right before Halloween, and lot of people were actually disappointed in the colour story of this palette; but, I was actually really happy with it - it's bright and different and was a great group of colours together!

Adrienne Furrie ~ $90.30 CAN. I went to a beauty and fashion event in Calgary with a local makeup artist and designer - I had never heard about the brand before, but I'm so excited to try these products out. I picked up a concealer, cream blush and liquid shadow and hope to try them right away!

Lush Kitchen Subscription Box ~ December 2021

The Lush Kitchen Subscription box is a monthly subscription box full of exclusive Lush Labs goodies made exclusively for the box - every month subscribers vote on the monthly menu of products that they would or would not like to see in the box, so you can help pick what is included in the box! Also, all of the products included in each box will be vegan. 

Each month the Lush Kitchen Subscription box is £35 per month + shipping (shipping to Canada is £17.95), so all together the cost of the subscription box in Canada is £52.95 a month, which converted to around $95.00 CAN this month). The subscription will come with 4-5 exclusive products and I think it will include a variety of products that Lush makes; but, will of course be mostly bath and body products.

Bali Body Tanning Products - Review and Try-ons!

If there is one area of the beauty world I'm not well-versed in, it's actually self-tanning products. I used to be the person in the tanning beds multiple days per week and then I realized how terrible that was for me, so I swapped to spray tans and I had some pretty bad tans as the spray tan was being perfected!

So, I've gone the complete other direction with full SPF50 on every day and no tan because I'm so nervous to dive in to self-tanning products from all my previous orangey tans. But, I love a tanned look, so when Bali Body reached out to me, I was really excited to give their products a try!

Terra Moons Cosmetics was on my list of brands I wanted to try this year, so when they came out with a couple of exclusive sets with Urban Outfitters earlier this year, I had to pick one up to try them out! 

Initially I was only able to pick up one set - the Cosmic Neon set, and I was able to try out the neon formula, but I'm always most interested in the shimmer or metallic formula, as that is what is so hyped up about the brand!

I have to start by saying that this set is currently not available; but, it was released earlier this year and I didn't get it and then it randomly came back in stock in the Summer, so I scooped it up. Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel in Dark Brown ~ $12.00 CAN for mini size shown here (full size is $26.00 CAN). A highly-pigmented brow gel with a long-lasting, waterproof formula for creating fuller-looking, defined brows—like Dipbrow Pomade in a gel form.

This was a pretty instant love affair with this brow gel - this previously made my Monthly Favourites and it looks fantastic on my brows. This one lasted over a year and it was great to use; you just need to use a little and it fills and holds them in nicely!

Time for another book review and I wanted this one to line up with the start of a new Bachelorette season this week, because it's an adult romance set around a reality t.v. dating show, and I loved it! If The Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy is a body positive twist on Cinderella - Cindy decides last minute to be a contestant on a dating show, very similar to The Bachelor and quickly becomes a favorite!  The characters in the book were so enjoyable and Julie's writing style always has my hooked to keep seeing what would happen next - this was the first book in a while I stayed up late reading!

Happy Manicure Monday everyone! Did you all see this week that a trailer was released for Scream 5?! (I don't think it will actually be called Scream 5, but it is coming out in January 2022!) If you haven't seen it yet, check it out - I love some of the little flashback older casts making cameos in new movie versions!

I'm actually a scary movie wimp (Nightmare on Elm Street and Candyman scarred me as a kid and I actually could not handle them); but, I have actually enjoyed all the Scream movies - it is my MAX limit of scary movie, so I will watch the new one when it comes out!) You might be surprised to know that I haven't watched some of the classic Halloween/scary movies because I'm too scared!

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving - I love the extra time with family and always make sure that we are together at least one night! Mitch worked most of the weekend and there is still gathering restrictions in place, but we were still able to see my Mom and have a turkey night!

I always love these haul posts - it's a way to keep track of everything that I picked up every month. I don't always blog about everything I pick up (I try to), but if you ever spot anything in here that you really want me to talk about, let me know!

XO Treatment Room Haul ~ $93.45 CAN. This is my favourite Vitamin C serum and it's made by a local Calgary company that I love! I just emptied one and I needed replacement asap! 

Sydney Grace x Temptalia Quintessence Light Eye Palette

I feel like it's been a minute since I've posted about an eyeshadow palette, but honestly, I think I'm at the point where I am trying to be a little more thoughtful about what I'm bringing in to my collection (my Monthly Haul post coming might call me a liar for that; but I'm certainly trying). I just did a huge declutter and really want to bring makeup in that offers something different that I will use!

When I saw that Temptalia was teaming up with Sydney Grace, I was very excited - I mean Temptalia is the OG of Beauty Bloggers, she literally grades every single beauty product out there, so you know if she is partnering on an eye shadow palette, it's going to be amazing!

Happy Friday everyone - hope you all had a great week! It was super busy for me, so I'm really glad it's a long weekend! But, on a good note, I started volleyball up again this week and it was so nice to play with adults (I play with kids at work a fair bit), so it was nice for some good competitive games!

I have to start by saying that Alberta is maybe having the best Fall I've ever seen - I was in Edmonton this past weekend for training and I went out for a few walks! I even saw some larches and they are so lovely! Usually we get one really nice week and then it snows, so it's amazing that we've had a few weeks of perfect weather and beautiful Fall colours!
