Monthly Beauty Empties ~ September and October 2021

Here's a look at my September and October beauty empties:

Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel in Dark Brown ~ $12.00 CAN for mini size shown here (full size is $26.00 CAN). A highly-pigmented brow gel with a long-lasting, waterproof formula for creating fuller-looking, defined brows—like Dipbrow Pomade in a gel form.

This was a pretty instant love affair with this brow gel - this previously made my Monthly Favourites and it looks fantastic on my brows. This one lasted over a year and it was great to use; you just need to use a little and it fills and holds them in nicely! 

Repurchase: Yes, already have 

Sephora Collection Clean Lip Balm - Coconut ~ $10.00 CAN. A collection of nourishing lip balms and soft lip scrubs with natural-origin ingredients.

I tried to use this a few times - I love the scent, but I found the formula a little stiff and wasn't that nourishing on the lips. Also, left a little bit of a white cast and I did not enjoy that part. 

Lip Smacker Cinnamon Churro Frappe Lip Balm ~ $3.95 US. The dome-shaped lip balm delivers the sweet taste of a cinnamon churro frappe while providing extended hydration to your lips.

This was a good lip balm - I liked the dome formula, and I thought the formula was hydrating on the lips. The smell was also delicious and I loved this line! 

Repurchase: Potentially 

Sephora Collection Makeup Sponge ~ $?. 

This was a firmer sponge than I'm used to - I ended up using it for blushes instead of face products as it didn't really help blend them out. 

Repurchase: No 

XO Treatment Room Serum Mist ~ $?. 

This was a Thursday special when I needed some new products and I really enjoyed this mist - it was thicker, but absorbed well in to the skin! XO Treatment Room can basically do no wrong in their products for me. This isn't a permanent line, but I will have to try out their mist! 

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer ~ mini size shown is $28.00 CAN (full size is $50.00 CAN). A lightweight moisturizer, ideal for oily to combination skin, that is formulated with vitamin-rich watermelon extract, hydrating hyaluronic acid, and soothing botanicals to boost radiance and glow.

This is another past favourite - this sample size came in a past Sephora point or add on product! I really like this moisturizer - you will not think this offers enough moisture if you have dry skin; but, you may like it as a serum! I thought it kept my skin refreshed and hydrated (plus it smells so good!)
Repurchase: I would like to 

Skindinavia The Makeup Setting Spray ~ $29.00 US for 4 oz. This clinically-proven makeup finishing spray (also known as a setting spray) applies as a lightweight, breathable fine mist to set liquid and powder makeup, and hold it in place for 16+ hours!

This setting spray was pretty good - I personally prefer the Skindinavia Bridal Setting Spray and the Oil Control one; but, this formula was good as well. I will always repurchase the Skindinavia ones though - they are my favourite. 

Repurchase: Yes 

Essence My Skin Perfector Tinted Primer in Light Beige ~ $6.99 CAN. These mousse-like tinted primers are the perfect base for a flawless and long-lasting makeup look. Apply the velvety primer alone to create a smooth, natural look, or apply as a base in combination with makeup to for a flawless complexion.

I really wanted to like this - it was a light texture and applied okay. The tint was nice, but it was quite matte as well. But, I tried this under makeup and it just pilled up - I had to toss it. 

Repurchase: NO 

XO Treatment Room Super. Clean. Super Cleanser with Oat Protein ~ $?. 

This came as part of the Super Mom Mother's Day box - this was a nice gentle cleanser and it worked well on my skin. Again, not a permanent product, but I would try the XO cleansers! 

Repurchase: Yes, if I could 

SK-II Facial Treatment Essence ~ sample size (full size is $129.00 - $306.00 CAN).  A powerful treatment to visibly soften texture, reduce the appearance of dark spots and fine lines due to dryness, even the look of skin’s tone, and enhance visible radiance.

This is such an expensive essence wow - I do think it was beneficial to my skin and it certainly made my skin looks nicer as I was using it, but damn, for that price it better babysit my kids while improving my skin! 

Repurchase: When I win the lottery 

Sephora Collection All Day Hydrator- Hydrate & Glow Moisturizer ~ sample size (full size is $23.00 CAN). A weightless moisturizer that hydrates the skin and promotes a natural glow.

This was a fine moisturizer - I thought it worked good. I didn't think it was anything amazing, but good texture and moisturized my skin. 

Repurchase: Eh, maybe 

The Inkey List Oat Cleansing Balm ~ $12.99 CAN. A luxurious cleansing balm that gently dissolves makeup and excess oil without stripping sensitive, irritated skin of the moisture it needs.

Okay, this was a Favourite from the beginning of year, and I still stand by that the formula itself is good and works well, but as I continued to use this, the texture comes out as half liquid oil cleanser and half balm, so it was separating and the texture wasn't consistent as I was using it. So while I really enjoyed the formula, I found better textures this year. 

Repurchase: Probably not 

Neutrogena Make-Up Removing Cleansing Wipes Night Calming Duo ~ $20.99 CAN for 2 packs of wipes. Gently and effectively dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and make-up from your face.

These "night calming" wipes apparently have a unique scent to help you unwind - I really didn't notice a scent; but, these worked well and removed makeup. This is one of the only type of face wipes that I think actually remove most makeup, so I tend to stick to these ones. I try and use wipes a little less to not be as wasteful, but these can be used a couple times too for one sheet which is great!
Repurchase: Yes

Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch ~ $6.26 CAN (prices vary by website). Acne Pimple Master Patch heals acne, blemishes and prevents future breakouts quickly. 

These are a holy grail in my collection - these made my favourites all the way back in September 2015 and I still repurchase consistently, and repurchase them in bulk. These clear up acne so well and so quickly!
Repurchase: Yes!

Belif Hungarian Water Essence x3 ~ samples shown (full size is $56.00 CAN). An instant, lightweight hydration recharger serum that is powerfully effective for deep, lasting hydration.

I have quite a few of these essence samples - they are perfect for packing along on our trips to the cabin and these work really well! I thought these were nice and hydrating. 

Repurchase: Maybe 

Lush Beauty Sleep Face and Body Mask ~ $16.95 CAN for 125g or $33.95 CAN for $34.95 for 315g. This decadent mask is composed of calming lemon verbena and valerian root extracted in honey, soothing fresh coconut and a hydrating mullein leaf and linseed decoction. And, if this mask wasn't dreamy enough, we've added a dollop of Lush’s most exquisite moisturizer, Gorgeous.

This is a rinse off face mask that is sort of a combination of the Sleepy ingredients (lavender, ylang ylang and tonka) with a spoonful of gorgeous moisturizer. It is a nice texture and it doesn't dry down or get uncomfortable on the face, so it actually rinses off really easy and leave my face bright, clear and soft! It smells lovely and it's such a nice mask! I love this mask! 

Repurchase: Yes 

Kosmea Clarifying Facial Wash ~ $42.99 CAN. This gentle, foaming clarifying facial wash doesn’t dry out your skin or strip it of vital nutrients; it actually replaces it with essential fatty acids, vitamins and provides it with anti-ageing properties.

I used this as my shower face cleanser, so it takes me a little longer to use it up - I think my least preferred formula of cleanser is a cream cleanser, so this one was just okay for me. 

Repurchase: Not likely

L'Oreal Fine Flowers Cleasing Gel ~ $12.99 CAN. The rich gel-cream texture emulsifies in water, transforming into a creamy foam that cleanses and softens the skin without drying it out.

This was a fine cleanser - it was a gentle formula. I used it mainly as a second cleanser following my cleansing balm and it worked well. I think the first formula is more important, but this did the job. 

Repurchase: Maybe 

The Body Shop Strawberry Clearly Glossing Shampoo ~ $11.00 CAN. Enriched with mouth-watering Italian strawberries, the silicone-free, 100% vegan formula adds shine and helps detangle for soft, sweet-smelling locks all day long.

The Body Shop Strawberry Clearly Glossing Conditioner ~ $11.00 CAN. Revive dull hair with our Strawberry Clearly Glossing Conditioner, leaving your locks smoother, shinier and smelling of fresh Italian strawberries. 

I thought I'd try this Strawberry set again and it was fine - it didn't quite make it to 2 day without needing dry shampoo, but I did really like the way my hair looked with this! Although, this does look like it has been discontinued. 

Repurchase: Not possible, but probably not 

The Body Shop Banana Shower Cream ~ $10.00 CAN for 250 ml. Enriched with Community Trade organic banana puree made from bananas that won't sell to the food industry (we don't care if they're the 'wrong' shape or size!), this vegan, fabulously fragrant treat leaves skin feeling soft, cleansed and fresh.

This is in the limited edition range from a while ago and I love the banana scent - this was a nice, thick body cream and the scent was delicious and it worked well! I thought it made my skin nice and smooth and clean! 

The Body Shop Juicy Pear Hand Cream ~ $10.00 CAN. It leaves skin feeling softer and beautifully moisturised, with a hit of our strictly Christmas-only Juicy Pear scent.

This is a past holiday scent and I like the formula of the Body Shop hand creams - they are super moisturizing. But, the scent of this smelt so floral and was an overpowering and too strong. I finished for the formula, but did not like the scent at all. 

Repurchase: No 

Mitchum Clinical Soft Solid ~ $8.99 CAN.

Deodorant is nothing special; but, I love the clinical strength formula and this brand is my go-to. I like that it is both an antiperspirant and a deodorant.

Repurchase: Yes

The Body Shop Strawberry Shower Gel ~ deluxe size (full size is $10.00 CAN). Our gentle Strawberry Shower Gel is infused with c old-pressed strawberry seed oil, with a touch of vanilla - so for those who follow their sweet-smelling noses to the ends of the earth, this is the one to get you bouncing in the shower in the morning.

The Body Shop strawberry scent is lovely - one of my favourites, and this was a gentle formula, easy to use, no complaints. 

Repurchase: Maybe 

The Body Shop Festive Berry Body Yogurt ~ $16.00 CAN. 

The body yogurt is a good formula - really light and cooling, so much better as a Summer body lotion formula instead of Fall and Winter. This scent was so good and fresh and I really enjoyed this! 

Repurchase: Yes (the scent was seasonal, but the formula is great!)

Beauty Avene Peppermint Candy Snow Much Fun Bath Fizzies ~ $4.99 CAN. Drop into warm bath water and watch it fizz with delight!

Okay, this is the cutest little holiday bath bomb set - this comes with 3 little bath bombs in it and it's the perfect little size, when you want a really affordable filler for a stocking! Peppermint is a great scent for the holiday time! These were pretty small, so I think I used the two smallest ones together in one bath. 

Live Clean Foaming Hand Wash - Fresh Snow ~ $5.48 CAN. This holiday, treat your friends, family, and yourself to this natural, gentle SLS-Free formula with a rich creamy lather that is easily rinsed away. 

This is a seasonal hand soap scent - it's lovely. Plus, this foaming soap is a great formula, I buy it in any scent really. 

Repurchase: Yes, it's available again right now 

Marvis Aquatic Mint Toothpaste ~ $10.00 CAN. Marvis Aquatic Mint Toothpaste has a sweet and cool touch of mint with the cool freshness of the sea. Alum powder based, it polishes the teeth smoothly without being harmful for the enamel or the gums. 

This toothpaste is so good - I love how fresh this leaves my breath! It's super cooling and refreshing and I like a lot of the flavours, but this is my favourite.

Repurchase: Yes! 

Batiste Dry Shampoo Original Mini Travel Size ~ $4.97 CAN. A few quick sprays instantly transform your look, leaving hair looking clean and fresh with added body and texture.

I know this is a pretty cult classic dry shampoo; but, it's just okay to me. It works pretty good - but the white cast is strong. I have to use this before bed so it can absorb all night so I have no white cast. 
Repurchase: Maybe... 

L'Oreal Paris 8-second Wonder Water Lamellar Rinse-Out ~ $13.99 CAN. With moisturizing agents and amino acids, our formula targets damaged areas of hair, forming thin layers called lamellas that smooth the hair’s surface with no weigh down.

This recently made my Monthly Favourites - the lamellar water targets damage and this is meant to detangle, make hair look shinier and healthy, smoother and easy to manage. I personally use this at least once per week and leave it on longer than 8 seconds, my hair is certainly smoother, softer and looks healthier! I've really been enjoying this! 

Repurchase: I already have! 

Quo Beauty 100% Acetone ~ $5.99 CAN. Used in salons by professionals to quickly remove nail glue, gel nails and glitter polish.

I use this specifically for when I'm nail stamping - it cleans the stamping plates, etc. This works well and lasts a long time.

Repurchase: Already have 

Clear Care Plus Cleaning and Disinfecting Solution ~ $19.97 CAN for a set of 2. Not only does Clear Care Plus Cleaning and Disinfecting Solution clean and disinfect your contact lenses with the bubbling power of hydrogen peroxide, it also surrounds your lenses with long-lasting moisture.

This is a great contact solution - I switched to a hydrogen peroxide solution well over a year ago (with only one mishap of not letting it rinse long enough). This is at least a 6 hour solution so you can't wear your contacts the next day unless you have enough time; but, it's great! Much better at cleaning than regular solutions!
Repurchase: Yes! 

Acuvue Oasys ~ $63.99 CAN for a pack of 12.

Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism ~ $53.99 for a pack of 6. 

Nothing exciting here - my go-to contacts, as I have pretty dry eyes and these help. One box is for each different prescription.

Repurchase: Yep

Colgate PreviDent5000 PLUS Toothpaste ~ $13.99 CAN. Ideal for preventing tooth decay & helps strengthen tooth enamel.

This is a high fluoride toothpaste - I've been using this as a night time toothpaste and it's been working well. 

Repurchase: Yes 

Lush Kinky Boots Bubble Bar ~ $7.95 CAN. Looking for a bubble bath that's also great for dry skin? This bubbler is a two-in-one with a foaming red base and black boots made with rich cocoa butter to soften and soothe.

I love this little combo of a bubble bar and almost a little bath oil/butter on top, so this will be great for the skin to use. I love this bubble bar's name and the shape with Santa's legs! This smelled good, bubbled well and lasted a few baths!

Repurchase: Maybe

Lush Christmas Eve Bubble Bar ~ The story behind the Christmas Eve Bubble Bar is that it was intended to help calm excitement and soothe anxiety the night before Christmas, when presents and Santa Claus are at the top of your mind.

This was a retro Lush product that came in the Kitchen Box - it is scented with Jasmine and ylang ylang and it's very relaxing smelling. I love that this isn't a typical holiday scent, but it's still a holiday product! This is a smaller bubble bar, but could still be used for at least two baths if you wanted to stretch it out and it worked well, and did smell very relaxing! 

Repurchase: If they evert brought it back! 

Hawaiian Tropic Island Sport Sunscreen Lotion, SPF 50 ~ $11.97 CAN. Stay protected, keep your skin looking and feeling beautiful – all without feeling greasy.

I love the scent of this lotion and I love that it's an easy absorbing SPF 50 - will consistently rebuy this one, it's a favourite! 

Repurchase: Yes 

Lavender, Sweet Orange and Geranium Bath Bombs x2 ~  $?.

If I'm being honest, I'm not even sure where these bath bombs came from!  They smelled fine and worked okay, no complaints the scent was good. I will use any bath bomb so I'm easy! 

Repurchase: No 

SNP Animal Lion Revitalizing Mask ~ $?. Animal Lion Revitalizing Mask Sheet - Animal Lion Revitalizing Mask Sheet by SNP recharges exhausted skin with vital energy to give it a vital glow. 

I love the SNP animal masks - I think they do a good job of getting the print right, keeping the mask shape and having good results. This one was fun! 

Repurchase: I can't find it anywhere right now

Sephora Collection Pumpkin Mask ~ $7.00 CAN. A pampering pumpkin face mask made of a plant-based "second skin" fiber that nourishes and hydrates in 15 minutes.

I love that this came scented as pumpkin and smelled goof and I thought this was super nourishing on my skin - it fit well, lasted a long time and delivered results! Loved it! 

Repurchase: Yes 

FabYou Botanical Healing Mask Pep-plex 8 ~ $2.40 US. It is a premium peptide mask pack that gives vitality to dry skin with 8 kinds of peptide ingredients to make firm skin.

This mask was good -  it was a touch big, but still folded down well and all wore for 20-30 minutes with essence remaining to pat in. The pep-plex 8 was really hydrating and softening on the skin.

Repurchase: Maybe 

So, in September and October, I used up 45 products - pretty good, a good mix of everything and good to get through lots of products!
