I really enjoyed working on a project pan last, it really made me enjoy using up older products in my collection, so I was excited to start a new project pan in 2021 - I am hoping to use up or hit pan on 21 products in 2021! I will again, be focusing on all makeup products as I am pretty good about working through my skincare products.
The Estee and Rodial were received as PR samples - this post contains affiliate links
I started the project off with the first 10 products and will treat this like a rolling project - once I reach my goal, I will add a new product to the mix! On my first update, I reached my goal on 1 product, then with the second update, I finished another 2, so I'm down to 18 more products to go!
I have a mix of goals between finishing products and hitting pan, so this should be a lot of fun! I also picked a mix of products that I will reach my goals quickly on and some that may take close to the whole project to reach! Let's start with the product that I've reached my goal on:
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in "Luminous Light" ~ $64.00 CAN. Create the perfect illumination for your face with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder.
This is another super old product in my collection - it made my Monthly Favourites all the way back in August 2015, so it's time to use it up. I have been using this up previously, but every time I get a new finishing powder, this one gets pushed to the back burner - it can be a highlighter or a finishing powder. This is a little dark for me all over right now, but I've made some pretty serious progress on this!
My goal for this product is to use it up - and I just met that goal in a Shop My Stash post that I did right before this update! I have been using this most days and it's done. (I had been weighing these, but I no weight updates this time because my scale stopped working!)
NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil in Natural Soft Beige ~ $15.99 CAN. Reveal your freshest self with our new Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil! Simply smooth this weightless formula onto the complexion for light, breathable coverage with a seamless and satiny finish.
I love this tinted skin veil - it is the perfect light, medium coverage that wears really nicely. It made my Monthly Favourites in March of 2020 and one of the best products of last year, so it's certainly a lot newer than most products in this project. But, I have quite a few light coverage products that are in line to use and I don't like to have too many foundations open at a time!
My goal for this product is to use it up - and I managed to use this all up on May 23, 2021! I really, really enjoyed this so I will be repurchasing soon!
Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Smoky Storm ~ deluxe sample (full size is $31.00 CAN). A brilliant and long-wearing, liquid glitter eyeshadow.
These are the O.G. glitter eyeshadows - these made my Best of Makeup 2017, so these have been around for awhile. A few of these have dried up on me, so I'd like to use this one before that happens (and it was feeling a little dry as I was using it!) Smoky Storm is described "light pewter & silver" and it's pretty and easy to use!
My goal for this one is to use it up - there isn't a super easy way to tell with this, but I will just use it until I can't get any more product or it dries up! And, I used it for a Shop My Stash post on June 18 right before this update and it was barely useable, so it's all done now!
Guerlain Meteorites Light-Diffusing Perfecting Primer ~ $85.00 CAN. For skin that seems lit from within, apply this smoothing liquid to clean, moisturized skin as an essential first step in any makeup routine. The gel formula, the first makeup base with pearls of light, is made of an exclusive color-control base to camouflage blemishes and discoloration, combined with pearlescent extracts to capture and reflect light and blur the appearance of fine lines without adding shine.
This was introduced in the last update - because this primer specifically looks discontinued, but it looks like they still have this pearl style primer. These burst as you squeeze the product out, and this is a fine primer.
My goal was this is to use it up and I didn't think it would take very long. The last update I had just over 2/3 of the bottle and I finished a little quicker than I thought, because that stuff at the bottom would not come out and it was not a twist-off top.
So, another 4 products completed! And, here's the other products that I've introduced earlier in the project that I'm still working towards my goal on:
Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette ~ $65.00 CAN. An eyeshadow palette with 18 shades in peachy pinks, corals, bronzes, and purples.
This is my oldest palette in my collection right now - it came out in early 2016, so we are pushing 5 years old now (you can see my original post back in April 2016 on it here!). The formula is still good and I really liked this palette, and still enjoy it whenever I remember to use it, so I think it's time to get some good use out of it before it's not so good anymore!
My goal for this eyeshadow palette is to hit pan on at least 2 shadows (maybe 3 depending on how I'm doing) and use all the shadows at least a couple of times! I'm making a dent on the lightest 3 shades. I haven't reached for all the shades yet, so I can still diversify my use a little bit more I think!
Becca Cosmetics Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Champagne Pop ~ $50.00 CAN. An award-winning highlighter with an ultra-creamy formula that melts into skin for a natural, luminous glow.
This is probably the oldest highlighter in my collection - Champagne Pop was huge when it was released in July 2015 and it really is a stunning colour. It made my Monthly Favourites back in that month, so it's an oldie but a goodie! It's described as "soft gold with pinky-peach pearl" and it really is stunning - it's an old favourite and I've made a pretty good dent in it over the years.
My goal with this product is to hit pan on it - this is a big highlighter, so I think this might take me quite a while to do, but it will feel really great to do. I've managed to use this a lot of times over the past few months and am making a little dip right in the middle - I'm getting a little closer!
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Paaarty ~ deluxe sample (full size is $38.00 CAN). An award-winning powder blush that contains long-wearing Amazonian clay, so pigment looks freshly applied all day.
This is another old favourite - it was one of my Favourite Makeup Products of 2017. I think this was the Sephora Birthday gift either 2016 or 2017 and Paaarty is described as a "nude". It's a lovely pinky nude that works well for my skintone and it's an easy to use shade for every day!
My goal for this product is to hit pan on this blush - it is a deluxe size, so that should be doable within this year, but I do think that this will take quite a while! I've been using this quite a few times over the past few months, but this will take a lot more uses to hit pan on, so I think this will take most of the year to reach my goal!
ColourPop Lip Crayon in Z Boys ~ $8.00 US each. When all you need is just a tint. This comfy, hydrating lip tint adds the perfect sheer wash of colour to create healthy, glowy lips.
These lip tint lip crayons were another instant love for me when I picked them up - this made my Favourite Makeup Discoveries of 2019! Z Boys is described as a "sheer peach nude" and the formula is super soft and comfortable on the lips and wear off without smearing everywhere and they leave a pretty tint behind (just a little bit) and reapply really nicely. I have been getting a ton of tinted lip balms lately, so I want to use some of my older ones that I love too!
My goal for this product is to use it up - there is a fair bit of product left in this because honestly, who is wearing a ton of lip products right now?! I have a feeling that this will take a while to complete! And, I have actually used this a few times over the past couple of months and it barely made a dent!
Rodial Microblade Effect Eyebrow Pencil Dark Ash Brown ~ $35.00 CAN. Define, sculpt and build brow volume with this creamy angled brow pencil. Featuring a unique triangular tip that can be used to create precise, hair-like strokes or to quickly fill in the brow area with broad strokes for instant brow-enhancement.
This was a brow product I got a while ago, and it's not my favourite - it's a bigger, triangle tip pencil than I typically prefer. It's quite a creamy formula so I also find it a little hard to control on application as well. It's the oldest brow product in my collection, so just trying to use up the oldest stuff first.
I introduced this pencil after I completed the Catrice brow pencil on January 27 and I've been using it every day. I was quite surprised that it doesn't look like I've used very much up at all, and honestly, the more I use it, the more I dislike it - I was hoping that this would be used quickly.
YSL Touche Eclat Colour Corrector in # 3 Violet ~ $52.00 CAN. Violet helps neutralize dull or sallow skin. Instantly eliminates color imperfections for a flawless skin tone. Convenient one-click brush perfectly & effortlessly targets the problem areas.
This was a concealer that has sort of been forgotten in my collection, but I've enjoyed a violet powder, so I'm thinking that I will enjoy this under my eyes for a brightening effect. This is a nice thin formula and it was comfortable to wear.
My goal with this is to use it up - it's a little hard to judge how much is in here, or how long it will take me to finish, so it will be a surprise! And, since I can't weigh anything this update, I really have no way to track this!
And, since I used up 4 products this update, I have 4 new products to introduce:
Too Faced Cosmetics Primed & Peachy Cooling Matte Skin Perfecting Primer ~ deluxe size (travel size is $16.00 US). Cooling matte primer blurs and smooths your complexion with a brightening peach tint that works on any skin tone.
I have so many primers and back-ups in my collection - I feel like they are always point products or addons, so I will always have one in my project pan to get through these. This one is older and now it appears this product is discontinued, so time to move it out!
My goal is to use this product up - I introduced this in May and the package felt pretty full, so I'm surprised how quickly I've managed to use this up. I use this every day, so this will likely be finished by the next update!
Essence Brighten Up! Banana Powder ~ $5.99 CAN. Translucent mattifying powder ideal for concealer baking and perfect for setting matt highlights.
Again, like primers, I have a few older powders that I would like to clear out, so I will always have a face powder in here. I was hoping when I purchased this quite a while ago that it would replace the NYX banana powder that is a little harder to find, but the packaging broke so quickly, so I can't take this anywhere, so time to use it up!
My goal is to use this up - I just introduced this on the first day of this update, so this is where I am starting. There is already a huge dent in this, but powders take forever to get through, so this could still take a while!
Estee Lauder Double Wear Light Soft Matte Hydra Makeup in Ecru ~ $54.00 CAN. A soft-matte liquid foundation, with up to 24-hour wear, that blurs the look of pores for a camera-ready finish that’s lightweight, oil-free, and non-drying.
This is a little blast from the past (I had this in last year's project pan). This formula is described as "matte reimagined" and for me it's just okay - I find it can look a little powdery and slightly dry on me. It's not terrible, but it's just something I want to use up as it's not my most favourite formula, but it's still good - it's also my oldest foundation so time to clear it out.

My goal for this foundation is to use it all up. I tried this last year, but with a constant masking at work policy, I barely used this, so I'm hoping to give it another go this year! I've made a bit of a dent in the past month since I introduced this.
Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Bronzer in Bronzer ~ $22.99 CAN. Ultra-luxurious bronzer, infused with Murumuru Butter, delivers a radiant Brazilian goddess glow! Features ultra-refined pearls and soft-focus pigments that smooth skin texture, brighten skin tone and deliver a gorgeous bronze finish.
I hit pan on a bronzer in the last update, so only a matter of time before I picked up another one. This is a good bronzer, but it's the oldest one in my collection, plus the packaging broke - it doesn't latch anymore and that's the only thing that drives me crazy about some drugstore brands is how quick the packaging get ruined.
My goal on this product is to hit pan on this, but a stretch goal would be to see how much I could use up by the end of the year - I will see how quick I hit pan!
So, I'm doing pretty good in the project - I have 7 products down and 14 more to go!
