Five on Saturday - December 29, 2018

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you all had a great holiday season - I have been off of work for the week, so I feel like i'm in this weird limbo time; but, I have been spending lots of time with my family! 

ONE 

I had such an amazing Christmas with my favorite boys! Damian and Elliott were a blast opening presents and were so much fun! Mitch got to be home in the morning and watch the boys open their presents, and then he had to work. But, we are so used to shift work, so it's not a big deal! My family came over and spent the night with up and it was perfect!

This might be a bit of a long post, I feel like I have a lot to talk about in terms of my experience with the Storybook Cosmetics Book Club Subscription Box! 

Storybook Cosmetics announced back in May 2018 that they were coming out with a subscription box and that it would available in August 2018. I was very excited about this subscription - it was at a time I was getting frustrated with my beauty subscription boxes and was looking for a unique makeup subscription! I signed up and paid immediately (May 8th to be exact!)

December 2018 - Monthly Favorites

Hello end of the year! I will be doing my 2018 Yearly Favorites as well in a few days; but, I always think that favorites feel incomplete without doing December! So, here is what I was loving in December:

Bite Beauty Astrology by Bite Limited Edition Amuse Bouche Lipstick in Scorpio ~ $30.00 CAN. A limited-edition shade of award-winning Amuse Bouche Lipstick, created for the zodiac sign Scorpio. For sexy Scorpio, Bite mixes up a bombshell fiery orange-red. This searing, spicy shade is made for hot dates.

This is a limited edition shade, and it's no longer available on Sephora; but, Bite Beauty still has some on their website! This is an orange red, and honestly I wasn't sure how it was going to look on me; but, I love it! I have been making an effort to wear this out multiple times since I got it! My husband even told me that he doesn't like bright lipstick; but, he likes this shade on me too! The formula is long lasting, and I just need a quick blot so that it doesn't get on my teeth!

Manicure Monday - Glittery Green and Stamped Stockings

Happy Manicure Monday and Merry Christmas Eve! The Night Before Christmas is such a tradition for our family to read on Christmas Eve together before bed time - it's perfect to help get the kids settled, and it's been happening since I was a kid! 

So, I thought what better nails to do for Christmas Eve nails than stockings?! Also, stockings are my favorite part of Christmas time - I look forward to that more than the presents. My mom always stuffed my stocking and snuck in and put it on the end of my bed, so it was the best to wake up and have presents right there! So, I've been doing it for my older son, Damian, too and will start with Elliott when he's old enough!

Five on Friday - December 21, 2018

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you've all had a great week - mine has been so busy! I have been counting down to this Friday and am looking forward to having just about a week and a half off of work! It is much needed! 

Are you guys all ready for Christmas?! I got the last of our gifts and stocking stuffers this week and we are ready to go! I will do all my wrapping and prep this weekend; but, we are good! It's relieving not to have to go out and get anything this weekend!

I really tried to plan ahead and get us funny outfits to wear for our Christmas cards and our reindeer onesies are great and the cards turned out fun. But, I've been so damn busy that I did not make good timing to send them out to most people this year! Ugh - I don't know how people get everything done with toddlers and work because I clearly can't keep up!

"O Christmas tree, O Christmas tree, How lovely are thy branches" - what am I going to do when I have to find another back drop rather than use my Christmas tree anymore?! We are just over a week away from Christmas and I couldn't be more excited! 

One of my favorite Christmas past times is decorating the tree - we always get a real tree and there is just something about the smell and getting the decorations all set up that just gets me in the Christmas spirit!

This post usually starts by wishing you all a happy weekend; but, it's already Sunday! Where did the time go?! It's so close to Christmas and it is such a busy time! So, I hope you all had a great weekend. Mine was busy; but, good!

Last weekend was our annual Girl's Christmas Dinner gift exchange and we always draw names for gifts! It's always such a fun surprise! Earlier in the year, I tried both the Natasha Denona Mini Sunset eyeshadow palette and the Mini Lila eyeshadow palette and I was really impressed with both of them! I thought they performed well and the shadows looked amazing on! (Both also made Monthly Favorites over this year).

Happy Manicure Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend - mine was crazy busy! So that explains why I don't have fresh nails for my Monday this week - trust me, it bothers me immensely; but, it will give me a chance to put a nail treatment on and let my nails rest for a couple of days!

Santa nails are so classic for Christmas! I love how cute these Santa nails turned out and they were easy! You really only need a nail dotting tool. You can check out my original post and a quick tutorial on these Santa's here.

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask ~ mini size shown here (full size is $24.00 CAN). A leave-on lip mask that soothes and moisturizes for smoother, more supple lips overnight.

When I got this at first, I wasn't sure what the hype was about - it just worked like a lip balm overnight. Wrong - I tried to use a normal lip balm overnight again like I used to, and when I woke up half way through the night, I noticed how dry my lips were. This lip mask actually hydrates the lips all night and they are soft in the morning - plus, it just feels like a soft lip balm formula when it applies! I think the full size has a spatula with it, and that is my only complaint with the mini - I hate dipping my finger in a pot. It made my favorites in June of this year!

November 2018 What I Bought - Monthly Haul!

I love these Haul posts; because, for me it's a way of sharing everything I pick up throughout a month - honestly, I buy so much stuff that if I don't share it here, it might not pop up until my empties post! I absolutely love Christmas time, and what better way to count down to the jolliest day of the year than with a whole family variety of Advent Calendars?! 

We have been doing fun advent calendars in our house for years, and they keep getting better and better! It's always fun pick out a perfect advent calendar for everyone in our house, which includes me, my husband, our 13 year old and our 18 month old!

I loved when Bite announced that they were releasing a lipstick shade for each Astrology sign! But, it was such a long wait for the end of October to come around so we could see what Scorpio looked like! 

I'm a Scorpio born early November and I really like astrology, so I'm in to all the astrology releases! I used to follow astrology a lot more than I do now. I certainly believe I'm a pretty true Scorpio and I believe in the traits, compatibility, etc. I just am not always checking my horoscope or analyzing everyone based on their birthdays!

Happy Manicure Monday! I have been wanting to do a Night Sky themed manicure with constellations for quite some time, so I'm so excited for this week's manicure! 

When I picked up a few of these Essence "Out Of Space Stories" polishes, I new this was the perfect time to do a Night Sky manicure! In addition to this manicure look, I also am swatching four of the polishes from the collection (and I used them all in this Night Sky mani)! 

Wise - Canadian Men's Natural, Organic and Vegan Products

Wise is a Canadian brand of men's natural, organic and cruelty free hair and skincare products! They focus on carefully sourced ingredients and responsible and recycle-able packaging. 

Also, all of their products use natural ingredients, and contain no artificial fragrances or dyes, MEA, DEA or TEA, parabens, phthalates or sulphates that damage the hair. I love a company that not only focuses on ingredients; but, also on packaging! I really love that everything is recyclable - there seems to be a lot of care in to the whole line!

I have been eagerly anticipating the release of the new Fantastic Beasts Book - The Crimes of Grindelwald! Yes, I needed to get it right away as I'm still such a huge fan of the Harry Potter world and so far I've been liking this prequel/spin off! And, I like these books in screenplay form - it's a little different!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!! I try not to get too many holiday goodies for myself; but, I can't resist the Lush Christmas collection! 

Lush always releases a ton of limited edition products for the holidays and they always have so much good stuff! I requested a few really cute products from the collection from my hubby for my birthday and I am so excited to try them all! 

Too Faced Tickled Peach Mini Eyeshadow Palette ~ Swatches, Eye Look, Sweet Peach Comparison, and Review!

It's no secret that I love the Too Faced peach products - I have purchased quite a few of the products in the line! I know the packaging and the peach scent aren't for everyone; but, I'm a total sucker for cute packaging so it's great for me! Plus, I actually think the scents make makeup fun! 

Also, I can't resist a mini palette - I have quite a few of them and just find them so handy! I'm not always great with too many shades in a palette and can get overwhelmed and not know how pair a bunch of shades together. Especially on the go or for work, I love a little palette that I know how the shades are going to go together!

Happy Mask Wednesday! How cool does a sheet mud mask sounds?! Seriously, there are days I want to use a mud mask; but, the thought of the clean up turns me right off of the idea! So, this seems like such an interesting solution!

Sephora VIB Rouge Sale Haul - Holiday Goodies and New Products!

Ooooh - I just love when it's time for the Sephora VIB Rouge sale! I didn't purchase anything from the extra sale in August, so my wish list was getting rather large for this sale! 

There have been a lot of good releases and I have been trying to not buy everything - I actually think there is a lot of holiday items that I'm not getting this year; but, I always have to get a couple of things!

I'm so exited to share today's post! I have been so jealous watching people in places like Toronto and Los Angeles be able to go to Lip Labs and make their own custom lipsticks! There has been nothing like that anywhere near Alberta, until now! 

Posh Couture Cosmetics is located in St. Albert, Alberta - just outside of Edmonton. I heard about Posh Couture a little while ago and have been waiting for a chance to pay them a visit!

Manicure Sunday - Remembrance Day Poppy Nails

Today is Remembrance Day in Canada, and this year is actually a very important Remembrance Day - this day marks the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. 

I always take today to reflect on where Canada is now and the fact that we are very lucky to live in Canada - there are countries around the world that don't have the same peace and security we do and many people still experiencing war right now. We are very lucky to live where we do and I try no to take that for granted.

Travel Post - Disneyland ~ Anaheim, California + tips for travelling with a big family and a baby under 1!

I'm always a little slow getting to writing my travel posts; but, I have been meaning to write this since we got back from Disneyland! I love Disneyland so much - it sounds so cheesy, but it is always so magical and fun! 

So January of this year, we took a big family vacation to Los Angeles and Anaheim for a week! We went with our family of 4 that included a baby under one, my mom, my step-dad, my teenage brother and his service dog. Plus, we met my sister and her husband there too!

I was super excited when ColourPop announced their Disney Designer collection! I want to be a Disney princess when I grow up, so I pretty much had to have this collection! 

Also, I requested that my husband buy me this collection for my birthday, and since I turn 32 today, I figured I should review my birthday gift! 

The Disney Designer collection are the Princesses reimagined in the attire for the red carpet for their movie premieres in the year their movies were released - Tiana in 2009, Ariel in 1989, Belle in 1991, Jasmine in 1992, Snow White in 1937, and Cinderella in 1950. They all look so gorgeous and the packaging is stunning! The Designer collection is a bigger collection from Disney and includes dolls and accessories of all these princesses! 

Mad Beauty Disney Villains Face Mask Collection - Try on and Review!

Can we talk about Disney, without focusing on some villains during Disney week?! It just wouldn't seem right... and I could not wait to dive in to these masks when they arrived! 

I saw a picture of these online somewhere and squealed, then dropped everything I was doing and rushed to the Mad Beauty site to buy all the masks!
