Myself, like a ton of people have been waiting to see if they would be doing a Nightmare Before Christmas and I was so excited when they announced it! This was released right before Halloween, and lot of people were actually disappointed in the colour story of this palette; but, I was actually really happy with it - it's bright and different and was a great group of colours together!
I also think it leaves a lot open from more palettes too! I picked up the lipsticks and crystals as well - this set also came with a trio of jelly shadows that were really pretty (but the formula dries out quickly, so I didn't pick them up!) and glitter, liners and a makeup sponge that I also passed on. Also as we dive in to everything, I have to apologize that these are not quite up to my photo standards, but damn the sun is setting at 4:30 p.m. right now, so this is what we get!
ColourPop The Nightmare Before Christmas Shadow Palette ~ $22.00 US. This palette will make you scream! Swipe on 12 vividly pigmented neutrals, golds, oranges, pinks, blues and purples with bold matte and eye-catching metallic, duo-chromatic finishes. It’s scary how cute this The Nightmare Before Christmas palette is!
The shadow palettes are always the stand out of the collection and I love that this is a little collection of greys, pinks and purple - I think this is very bright and colourful compared to most of their collab palettes, so this was fun and different!
Zero ~ metallic ivory
Meant To Be ~ matte cool taupe
Dear Friend ~ matte mauve
In My Bones ~ matte soft charcoal
Pumpkin Patch ~ metallic warm gold
Christmas Town ~ metallic cool pink with teal pin points
Frog’s Breath ~ metallic warm brown duochrome with a teal flip
Dr. Finkelstein ~ metallic deep periwinkle with a blue flip
What's This ~ matte bright orange
Sandy Claws ~ matte bright pink
Everybody Scream ~ matte violet
Halloween Town ~ matte black with multi-colored pin points
I thought the formula was pretty good - it is consistent with ColourPop's palettes that they have been releasing. The mattes had a little kickup, but they applied well. I thought the shimmers had a little kickup as well, but applied nicely with the fingertips. Overall, good quality and pretty shades!
Here's a few looks with the palette:
For the first look, I used Meant To Be in the crease, then I applied Dear Friend to the outer corner and smudged both slightly on the lower lash line. I applied Frog's Breath all over the lid and I love this shade so much, and I put Zero in the inner corner to finish the look.
For the second look, I went much brighter! I applied What's This to the upper crease and Sandy Claws to the outer corner and through the lower crease. I applied a little Everybody Scream to the outer corner to try and deepen it and then I lightly smudged all the colours under the eye. I applied Christmas Town to the middle lid and Pumpkin Patch to the inner lid with Zero in the inner corner.
For the third look, I went deep and purple! I applied Meant To Be to the crease, and deepened the crease with In My Bones and patted on Halloween Town to the outer corner. I applied Dr. Finkelstein on the lid, Everybody Scream to the lower lash line and Zero to the inner corner.
I'm happy with all the looks and think this palette is so versatile and fun!
In addition to the palette, I also picked up all three creme lux lipsticks that they released with the line - Oogie Boogie, Jack Skellington, and Sally!
ColourPop Oogie Boogie Creme Lux Lipstick ~ $10.00 US. Be the best Sandy Claws with ColourPop's sweet The Nightmare Before Christmas Oogie Boogie Lipstick.
Oogie Boogie is described as "a medium peach with warm undertones" - I originally thought this looked too light for me, but damn I love this shade! I will be honest, ColourPop can do no wrong with their peach lipstick shades; I always love them and this one fits right in there!
Here is a look at Oogie Boogie on me - it's a great medium peach that is nice and versatile on me. It worked with so many looks that I created, but I actually love it like this with just a light face of makeup and a neutral look!
ColourPop Sally Creme Lux Lipstick ~ $10.00 US. Be a scream queen with a Sally decoration and a hot pink lip!
They weren't kidding when they said hot pink - this is definitely a bright pink! I also love the detail of the skulls embossed in the bullet of the lipstick and the packaging is really cute, although I won't likely hang these on my tree as ornaments.
Here is a look at Sally on me - I think this is a pretty pink, but it's very bright! It might be a little too vibrant for me, and I'm not sure how much I will reach for this one.
ColourPop Jack Skellington Creme Lux Lipstick ~ $10.00 US.
This is a gorgeous shade and the formula of these lipsticks is really nice - they applied nicely and comfortable to the lips, wore well and looked really nice on without being drying! The shade is described as a "deep, ruby red with cool undertones".
This shade is gorgeous - it's a beautiful true red and it just wears really nicely. I love how it looked on the lips and it feels like the perfect holiday shade! Love this one!
ColourPop The Nightmare Before Christmas Individual Crystal Sheet ~ $8.00 US. Customize your spooky glam with ColourPop's The Nightmare Before Christmas Individual Crystal Sheet. These crystals come in a range of sizes to fit any unique design.
I needed a little extra to get to free shipping, so I thought these were fun to throw in - I think they will add a little pop to some makeup looks and I love the range of the shades of crystals and they pair really nicely with the shadow palette!
I added a little pop of crystals to one of the look and they are super cute! These are something that will last a long time and will be fun to add in!
Overall, I'm really happy with the pieces that I picked up from the collection! The shadow palette is really pretty and it's bright and fun! The lipsticks are pretty - I will get a lot of use out of the Oogie Boogie shade, and the Jack Skellington red is gorgeous. I think the Sally lipstick is too bright of a pink for me, but I will see if I will wear it. Then, the crystals will be fun to play with for some looks!
