We are supposed to be doing green nails all month; but, I broke the rules because I was so excited about a new stamping plate I got! Plus, it's Woman's History Month this month and before it comes to an end, I thought I would throw a little homage to woman with my nails this week! I've been seeing these line, abstract manicures everywhere and I love them!

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you've all had a great week! We are officially in to Spring and I always love Spring, it's time for everything to warm up and start growing and getting green (although, I remember that I live in Calgary and we will have snow and cold for the next month still!)

I'm keeping up with my promise of more book reviews this year - and, I feel like I'm having a really good reading year! I've already read over 25 books and I always have a mix of audiobooks, e-books, and physical books on the go! I really want to focus on books I'm loving and my second 5 star review of the year went to Concrete Rose by Angie Thomas! 

So, I own a physical copy of this book already; but, I did actually listen to this on audiobook and I would highly recommend that - the narrator did a fantastic job. Angie Thomas also wrote The Hate U Give and On The Come Up, and I enjoyed both of the books, so I was looking forward to this. Concrete Rose focuses on Starr's dad, Maverick Carter, 17 years before the events of THUG. So, even though you know the "outcome" or the eventual paths that Maverick chooses, it is still a fantastic read. This book just hit me with all the feels - I laughed, I cried, I did it all and it felt pretty powerful to me. So this book takes us back to Garden Heights with 17 year old Maverick in a very intense time in his life - he is raising a son that the mother has left with him, he loses a family member to a crime, and he is trying to decide on whether to get out or go deeper in the gang life he has been living. 

Auric Cosmetics by Samantha Ravndahl - Glow Lust in Selenite and Smoke Reflect in Temper Review and Swatches

Ever since Samantha Ravndahl announced at the end of last year, I knew I wanted to try whatever she released! We do not necessarily have the same makeup style; but, she is certainly one of my favourite youtubers and I think she knows makeup well and would release a great product!

So, when Samantha put out her Auric brand reveal video, I was even more excited! You can see the thought that went in to the products, packaging, etc - this isn't just some influencer brand that is quickly thrown together to capitalize on. I can certainly see this being a lasting brand. Auric means Golden Together and the brand really focuses on inclusivity - their vision is "we believe in accepting, encouraging and promoting all different versions of beauty. That’s how we grow (and thrive) artistically and creatively."

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend - I was sick all weekend (not covid, got tested and results back all within the weekend), but I'm staying home today while I'm still not feeling 100%.

So, since I was feeling pretty terrible all weekend, I kept my nails pretty simple! But, I still love how they turned out - I feel like I can never go wrong using Scratch Monthly Mani kit nail wraps! They always look so lovely and are quick and easy to use!

Moyra Stamping Nail Polish Top Coat ~ $7.99 US. All the way from Budapest, Hungary, the SP Top Coat is specially formulated to protect your stamped nail art to give you the long-lasting wear your nail art deserves.

This is hands down the best top coat for when you have done any art so it won't smudge - it's super thick and wears for a really long time! This made my Best Nail Products of 2019 and it is the best top coat I've used for nail art (plus, I'm incredibly impatient, everything but this will smudge on me!)

Happy Friday everyone! Okay, can you believe this week we officially 1 year in to the pandemic?! I just remember last year thinking it would pass in a couple of weeks, and here we are 52 weeks later waiting for vaccines and trying to see the light at the end of the tunnel!

I just received my February Owlcrate subscription (it shipped a little late last month!) and this month's theme is "Magic Unleashed" - each month the book Owlcrate includes is signed by the author and comes with a note from the author as well - they often have special edition covers just for the box, and they seem to include a lot of exclusive items just for Owlcrate, which is so fun! As a bookworm, I have been loving this subscription!

Time to share my TBR list for the month - I'm usually trying to read a mix of new and older books; but, this month, I'm pretty excited for some newer YA books that have been released lately, so that's what I'm focusing on for March! I always try and plan my reading with themes; but, honestly, I usually manage to stick to the theme for most of the month, then I grab something I'm in the mood for, which is usually different!

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend - mine was a little exhausting (kid was up all Saturday night), so I'm really happy that I took today off as a little day to myself today!

We are kind of dinosaur geeks around my house (my teenager still wants to be a palaeontologist), so when MoYou London announced that they were doing a Jurassic Park collab, I placed an order right away so I didn't miss out! (These shipped from the UK, so they did take a couple of weeks to get to me and sadly, the collection is no longer on the UK website, but it looks like it's coming soon to Beautometry!)

I didn't actually try a ton of new things in February and stuck to a pretty basic routine, but the few new things I did try I ended up really liking, so I have a good little mix of makeup, skincare and nails this month! 

Creme de la Creme Beauty Lounge Custom Lipstick & Makeup in Sherwood Park, Alberta

In December I was sent to Edmonton, AB for some work training and I was pretty excited to pay a visit to the Creme de la Creme Beauty Lounge to create a custom lipstick! The brand was brought to my attention when a few fellow Canadian bloggers shared about them last year - they are an Alberta beauty brand and everything is made in their shop! What's really fun about the brand is that they focus on artisan bespoke makeup!

What I didn't realize until I got there, was that everything is made fresh as you order it! I thought just the custom lipstick would be made in front of me, but as I picked out an eyeshadow and nail polish, I was so surprised that they were made right then and there in the store!

I'm finding it hard to believe that it is March already - we are approaching a year of pandemic restrictions and it feels pretty crazy! But, I'm trying to carry on with life as normal as we can right now!
