November 2019 - Monthly Empties & Month in Masks

Time to dig in to my beauty garbage from November!

Some products were received as PR - this post contains affiliate links

Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer ~ sample shown (full size is $45.00 CAN). A replenishing face primer that hydrates, smoothes, and brightens skin for a dewy, healthy looking finish.

This was a really hydrating primer - I liked the faint coconut scent and it was really nourishing. With my combo/oily skin I could probably only get away with using this in the Winter!
Repurchase: Probably not

Lancome Juicy Shaker Lip Gloss in Boom Meringue ~ $29.00 CAN. Shake It, Twist It, Love It. Colours that turn you on!

I used this mostly up during my Summer Project Pan but had just a little bit left. This was okay but you couldn't use all of the product as it just didn't work with the design of the package.
Repurchase: No

Esqido False Lashes "BFF" ~ $29.00 US ($38.00 CAN at Holt Renfrew). Designed for ladies with natural medium to long lashes, each individual strand on these mink false eyelashes subtly overlap for a lustrous and heavenly effect.

I don't wear falsies too often but I've had these ones since 2017 and I've used them a fair bit - probably close to 20 times and it's just time for them to be done. These were really easy and comfortable to wear - you can see them on me here
Repurchase: I might - these were really good lashes

Marc Jacobs Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick in "One Mauve Time" ~ $34.00 CAN. A sheer lip gloss in a stick with an irresistible, melt-on, cushiony texture that delivers conditioning color with a high-shine finish.

Oh I was so sad to finish this - I had to scrape every last little bit of this I could! It was just so good! This is a lip gloss but since it's a solid formula, it doesn't get sticky of uncomfortable. It was such a great shade too! It made my Best of Beauty in 2018 and you can see it on me here! I love this!
Repurchase: Yes!

ColourPop BFF Mascara in Black on Black ~ $8.00 US. Mascara that instantly volumizes, lifts, and lengthens.

This was a really frustrating product - it looked really nice on the lashes and made them separated and full. But it smudged under my eyes all the time and then it was super hard to remove. Ugh. So much smudging - it just made it hard to wear which is unfortunate because it did look nice.
Repurchase: NO

Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner ~ travel size (full size is $22.00 US). Exacting and artistic eyes will love this precise pen – draw the line you want with ease.

This was a good opaque liner, but the tip was too short and stiff to work well. I used this; but, it just wasn't anything special.
Repurchase: Nah

Kailijumei Lipstick in Flame Red ~ $22.00 US. The lipsticks will change according to your ph level. They all swatch the same colour. The names are correspondent to the flowers, not the color is swatches.

This was one of those ph lipsticks but it just turned out like a bright pink on me. This ended up becoming my toddlers lipstick until he totally trashed it.
Repurchase: No

Burt’s Bees 100% Natural Moisturizing Lip Balm, Coconut & Pear ~ $4.98 CAN. This 100% natural lip balm is made with vitamin-rich pear juice extract and creamy, hydrating coconut oil.

I always have a few lip balms on the go - this was my work one and it was fine. It wasn't as good as the Pomegranate one and so I would really one buy that one again but this one was okay.
Repurchase: Nah

ColourPop Bangin Brunette Brow Pencil ~ $5.50 US. Bangin Brunette Brow Pencil ~ $5.00. Do it better in this true brunette brown.

Ugh, this wasn't a good formula - you twisted it up but it wouldn't twist back on. It went to to think so it was almost clumpy. You could see exactly where it applied and it wasn't pretty on. But, I've also had this one since 2016 so who knows if it just getting old.
Repurchase: No

Physicians Formula The Perfect Matcha 3-in-1 Melting Cleansing Balm ~ $15.99 CAN. A gentle 3-in-1 cleansing balm that melts away makeup, deeply cleans away impurities and leaves the skin fully supple and hydrated.

This was a really great formula - it even made my favourites in September! I love that it's at the drugstore and it's pretty affordable (it's often on sale too!) It got rid of all my makeup including mascara and was easy to wash off! A very good formula!
Repurchase: Already have!

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask ~ $59.00 CAN for full size (there is also a mini for $29.00 CAN). A skin-smoothing, radiance-boosting sleeping mask with watermelon and hyaluronic acid for post-facial results, all in one jar.

I love this sleeping mask - it made my skin super bright! I think Glow Recipe can do no wrong! You can see my review of this and it made my Best of Skincare of 2018 too! I actually bought this in the States and used it for a few months before it became available at Sephora Canada. So good!
Repurchase: Yes, I need to!

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream ~ sample size shown (full size is $24.99 CAN). Our unique light-weight formula absorbs quickly, like a gel, but has the long-lasting, intense moisturizing power of a hydrating face cream.

This was fine - I like a gel cream and I thought this was pretty good during the day; but, it wasn't enough for my evening skincare routine. This was just okay for me - not as moisturizing as I was expecting. It would be a better Summer moisturizer maybe.

Repurchase: Mmmmmaybe

The Body Shop Banana Body Yogurt ~ $14.95 CAN. Don't wait to get dressed after moisturising with The Body Shop's fabulously fragrant Special Edition Banana Body Yogurt.

This was my first time trying this yogurt formula from The Body Shop and it was lovely - especially in the Summer! It applied so easily, absorbed quickly and was really moisturizing!! You can see my thoughts on this here and it made my Monthly Favourites in August! It's so good - the Banana scent was limited edition but I really want to try other scents in this formula!
Repurchase: Yes!

Neutrogena Make-Up Removing Cleansing Wipes Night Calming Duo ~ $20.99 CAN for 2 packs of wipes. Gently and effectively dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and make-up from your face.

This is the first pack in a pack of 2; but, these "night calming" wipes apparently have a unique scent to help you unwind - I really didn't notice a scent; but, these worked well and removed makeup.
Repurchase: Yes, they worked well

Batiste Dry Shampoo Original Mini Travel Size ~ $4.77 CAN. A few quick sprays instantly transform your look, leaving hair looking clean and fresh with added body and texture.

I know this is a pretty cult classic dry shampoo; but, it's just okay to me. It works pretty good - but the white cast is strong. I have to use this before bed so it can absorb all night so I have no white cast.
Repurchase: Maybe...

The Body Shop Banana Truly Nourishing Shampoo ~ $11.00 CAN for 250 ml (also $6.00 CAN for 60 ml and $16.00 CAN for 400 ml). This truly nourishing, cruelty-free shampoo gently cleanses your hair and drenches it in an uplifting, tropical scent. Enriched with deliciously ripe Community Trade organic banana puree from Ecuador.

The Body Shop Banana Truly Nourishing Conditioner ~ $11.00 CAN for 250 ml (also $6.00 CAN for 60 ml). Enriched with real banana puree, this creamy conditioner is irresistible. Use after shampoo for moisturized, tangle-free, healthy looking hair.

These are so amazing - I love this shampoo and conditioner so much! I reviewed a whole lot of The Body Shop banana products on a big post here and these were a standout for sure!
These smell amazing and the formula works so well for me - I can actually get two days without using dry shampoo (which is rather unheard of for my hair!) They are 100% vegetarian, made with community trade bananas, formulated without silicones, and made for dry to normal hair - and, they are so lovely! They made my Monthly Favourites in August too!
Repurchase: Already have!

Pharmacopia Verbena Shampoo ~ sample.

Pharmacopia Verbena Conditioner ~ sample.

This is a hotel set and I was pretty impressed with it. This actually worked really well on my hair and I liked it - the scent was good too!
Repurchase: No, but would use it again

Earth Tempo Conditioning Shampoo ~ sample. EnvoClean tubes delight your senses in the fresh green tea fragrance infused in both liquids and soaps, with essential ingredients to cleanse, balance, hydrate and moisturize your hair and skin.

This was just another hotel product and I didn't really like it. It wasn't anything special for me.
Repurchase: No

Sephora Colection Solid Clean: Solid Brush Cleaner ~ mini size $10.00. A gentle, solid sponge and brush cleanser featuring argan oil and a warm Moroccan fragrance.

This worked nearly as well as the Beauty Blender solid cleanser - I was impressed and thought it did a great job on my brushes and sponges! I usually just go back and forth between the two.
Repurchase: Yes!

Marvis Toothpaste Flavour Collection - Wonders of the World ~ $23.00 CAN for 3 minis. This set contains three flavors in the Marvis Wonders of the World collection : Karakum, Royal, Rambasin in 25mL travel sizes.

I've raved about Marvis all year and have bought and tried so many of these flavours now! This one was really good! It's my favourite toothpaste formula now!
Repurchase: Yes

Crest Complete Extra Whitening Toothpaste ~ $?. Fight cavities with clinically proven Fluoristat and prevent visible tartar build-up with a specially formulated tartar blockers in Crest Complete Multi-Benefit Extra Whitening Gel Toothpaste.

This is a basic toothpaste - my husband doesn't really the price of my fancy toothpaste so he still wants this regular ol' stuff!
Repurchase: Maybe

Degree Clinical Protection Sheer Powder ~ $7.67 CAN. It’s formulated to provide protection that’s long-lasting against sweat, and provides extra help against odour, to help keep you dry and confident.

This is fine - I prefer the Mitchum clinical strength; but, I haven't spotted it in stores recently so it's probably being discontinued. But, this is a good alternative and worked well.
Repurchase: Yes

Clear Care Plus Cleaning and Disinfecting Solution ~ $19.97 CAN. Not only does CLEAR CARE® PLUS Cleaning and Disinfecting Solution clean and disinfect your contact lenses with the bubbling power of hydrogen peroxide, it also surrounds your lenses with long-lasting moisture.

This is a great contact solution - I switched to a hydrogen peroxide solution over a year ago (with only one mishap of not letting it rinse long enough). This is at least a 6 hour solution so you can't wear your contacts the next day unless you have enough time; but, it's great! Much better at cleaning than regular solutions!
Repurchase: Yes!

Lush Your Mother Should Know Bubble Bar ~ $12.95. A soak with this multicolored bubble bar quickly transports you to a zen state of mind with a grounding yet refreshing perfume of rosewood, grapefruit and neroli.

This bubble bar is huge!! I managed to get 3 baths out of it - you could probably stretch it to 4. This is an older product from a past Mother's Day collection and it's cute! This has a really delicate, relaxing scent!

Repurchase: I might

Neogence NVit Vitamin A Mask ~ (price range of $2.00 to $6.00 CAN). Maintains skin's firmness and resilience, immediately plumps, and makes skin appear supple and tight.

This was the only mask I used in November since finishing my #100DaysofSheetMasks - it fit rather big, but had a good amount of essence and was fine. Nothing super special.

Repurchase: No, and it's really hard to find

So, I used 27 products this month and I'm really impressed with how many makeup products that I used up this month! That always feels really good!

  1. Holy bunch of empties, good job! I need to try the TBS Banada body products. I've tried their hair care in the past and they didn't work for me, and now with my coloured hair I'm very picky. But body products, sounds like it would be a great summer scent!
I have the Pharmacopia Verbena products too, lol! Got them at a hotel in October. I'll probably use the hair products on my daughter (cause of reason mentioned above).

    1. I love the banana, but I never know what is good for colour treated hair or not - I feel like my hair fades with everything I use, so I'm not too picky about that. But, I can see with your vibrant colours that this would be a bigger deal!
