Five on Friday - May 29, 2020

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I'm very excited because this evening after work we are heading out to the cabin for a nice social distancing weekend on the river and I'm looking forward to some rest and relaxation - I'm leaving the computer behind and hoping to get some good reading in!

Novelly Yours Novels in Noir Candle Box
I purchased everything in this post - this post contains referral links

This was my second time picking up a Novelly Yours Exclusive Candle Box (I previously purchased the November 2019 Box because it was all about The Starless Sea and it was lovely!) So, when Novelly Yours announced that their April 2020 "Novels in Noir" box would contain a candle from The Night Circus, I had to pick it up!

May 2020 What I Bought - Monthly Haul!

I set one of my 2020 goals to be actually sticking to my $100 a month Beauty Budget - last year I attempted this and didn't do so well, so I'm actually trying to be a little more strict on myself! I really want to make sure that I can use and enjoy the products I have in my collection and that I will really use the products I picked up!

I always love my Monthly Haul posts to share with you everything I picked up (since I can't review everything I buy)! I also am trying to hold myself a little more accountable to buying products that I really want and will actually use!

But, this month I ran in to my first conundrum with my budget, where I had some replacement items to purchase (I usually buy them with Shopper's points, so I did make this decision that straight repurchase items will not count towards my monthly budget (but I have to be reasonable about this!)

May 2020 What I Bought - Monthly Haul!

Nails Inc Order ~ $59.10 CAN. I'm so impatient that I could not wait for this Nails Inc (or Inc.Redible) mask set to come in to stock on Sephora (and I ordered an extra set for my Blogiversary giveaway and it would not have arrived in time from Sephora). Plus, how gorgeous is this Freshly Juiced polish set?! These are stunning polish shades for the Summer! Also, as part of the order, the Girl King polish set came for free.

Natasha Denona Bloom Blush & Glow - Swatches, Looks and Review!

I've been a pretty big fan of the Natasha Denona products that I tried and I mostly pick up her products in mini form because they can be a little pricey! I had heard such rave reviews about the Bloom Blush & Glow palette that I had to pick it up a few months ago!

I've actually already raved about this palette here - it made my Monthly Favourites in March after using it for the whole month of March in my Monthly Makeup basket! It's super gorgeous and perfect for Springtime!

Manicure Monday - Purple Flower Stamped Nails

Happy Manicure Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend! I spent most of the weekend out in my garden again, so this May Flowers theme for my nails is very fitting!

I purchased everything in this post

I'm not going to lie, I can't believe my nails have been surviving the hours of gardening I have been putting them through the past few weeks (not too mention all the extra sanitizer and hand washing); but, they are hanging in there really well!

Travel Post - Playa Del Carmen Mexico with a Big Group and Toddlers!

Anyone missing travelling right now?! I was actually supposed to be flying to Italy today with my mom and sister for a girl's trip, so I'm totally missing travelling right now!

Travel Post - Playa Del Carmen Mexico with a Big Group and Toddlers!

I thought this would be a fun time to share a recap of our trip to Playa Del Carmen, Mexico from earlier this year! We went with my inlaws, so there was actually 13 of us, including 5 kids with 4 of them being under 4 years old! (Yes, it was as crazy as it sounds, but also a lot of fun!)

Graphic Novels TBR
I purchased everything in this post - this post contains affiliate links

I have been loving really getting back in to reading (I used to share my book reviews on a whole separate page here, and I know it didn't really fit), but I've really been trying to expand and share what I've been reading, because it's something I do basically every day and I do love it! So I hope you guys enjoy seeing what I'm planning on reading!

May Shop My Stash - Yellow Blush, Graphic Liner and Faux Freckles

Well, I haven't been wearing much makeup lately - we have starting wearing masks at work, so it's been difficult to feel like putting a lot of makeup on. So, when I sat down to play with my Shop My Stash look, I ended going down the road of PUT ALL THE TRENDS ON MY FACE! Sorry, not sorry!

May Shop My Stash - Yellow Blush, Graphic Liner and Faux Freckles
All the Hard Candy products and the Catrice concealer were received as PR samples - this post contains affiliate links

When I sat down, the plan with just a yellow eye and graphic liner look in mind for a yellow look, but it expanded to the yellow blush, and I'm not going lie, it's so different from what I normally do and I sort of love it!

Spring Floral Scents from Yardley

I've been keeping up the May Flowers theme with my nails all month, so why not extend the theme to fragrances too?!

Spring Floral Scents from Yardley

I typically tend to wear light scents overall - I work in a scent free work place, so I've gotten used to light or no scents overall. Even though I like to keep things light, I do still like to experiment with scents!

Manicure Monday - Mini Daisy Nails

Happy Manicure Monday - hope you are all enjoying the little extra day off with the long weekend today! I always love a long weekend and it's been so lovely outside in Calgary, so we've spent the whole weekend enjoying our back yard and getting some gardening done!

While I'm still waiting for my garden to bloom, at least for the whole month of May the #CBBxManiMonday group is featuring the theme "May Flowers", so I will at least have some blooms on my nails right now!

April 2020 Owlcrate
I purchased everything in this post (with the exception of the Catrice palette) - this post contains affiliate links

I just received my April Owlcrate subscription and this month's theme is "Full Moon Magic". Each month the book Owlcrate includes is signed by the author and comes with a note from the author as well - they often have special edition covers just for the box, and they seem to include a lot of exclusive items just for Owlcrate, which is so fun! As a bookworm, I have been loving this subscription!

Happy Mask Wednesday everyone! I'm all about the masking self-care always, but especially right now!

SooAE Hemp Dreams Sheet Mask & Mud Mask

I've tried a few SooAE masks before - I did a full week of masks reviews on the brand. What I really enjoy about the brand is that they have a huge range of masks, from unicorn printed hydrogel masks, to a black charcoal line, and a new vegan nature story fruit mask line!

Happy 6 Year Blogiversary! Celebrating With A Giveaway!

Today, May 12, marks the 6th Blogiversary of See The World in PINK! It's a little crazy that 6 years ago I started this blog with a little Manicure Monday post - Hearts, Glitter and Stripes! I actually started this blog with reviewing subscription boxes and my manicures (so they have been a regular since the start!)

It took me a couple of years before I started doing full beauty content and really getting in to the makeup and skincare side of things! But, I'm so happy I've expanded in those areas and I love where See The World in PINK has gone over the past 6 years! I know I'm still a tiny blog in the beauty world; but, I'm still happy with everything that I've gotten to do over the past few years!

Happy 6 Year Blogiversary! Celebrating With A Giveaway!
I purchased the products in this post - all links in this post are to my reviews

I always like to use my Blogiversary as a way of saying thank you to YOU for reading my blog or popping in here and there if a post interested you - either way I always appreciate someone reading my posts! I'm so thankful and appreciative that anyone stops by and reads my blog and I always hope you enjoy what you see! Thank you so much for supporting See The World in PINK in any way!

Manicure Monday - Colourful Spring Flower Nail Art

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend! It was Mother's Day weekend; but, it was a little snowy and rainy here in Calgary so I did my nails really bright and colourful to brighten things up for me!

For the month of May, the #CBBxManiMonday group chose the theme of "May Flowers", so this week I went with a hand-painted, colourful mix of flowers! I really wanted the bright yellow base and I love how it turned out!

Skincare Sunday - Glow Recipe Banana Souffle Moisture Cream

I've raved about Glow Recipe on here before - it appears that whatever products that I try from them, I really enjoy! They make great products and I love the fruity branding they have! And, spoiler alert, I've already raved about this Banana Souffle Moisture Cream!

Glow Recipe has these adorable fruit-themed items and I love their philosophy - "Skincare should be fun. Unexpected sensorial textures, colourful packaging, and innovative ingredients are our thing." The believe your skincare routine should make you feel inspired!

Five on Saturday - May 9, 2020

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you all had a great week! I had a pretty rough week last week and I have to say that I am exponentially better this week - my husband took the kids out to the cabin for a couple of days (they can bring all the stuff with them and then be socially distant where the can kayak and bike and enjoy nature!) So, I got a couple of days to myself and took a day off to just be home be myself and relax! I really needed it and felt totally refreshed!

Monday was May the 4th and as a Star Wars geek (as well as I geeky family), I love us to pick up little treats for the fun occasion! Also, I'm trying to support local Calgary places and Ollia makes the cutest macarons so I couldn't resist trying out their little Star Wars set that came with a Baby Yoda and a Stormtrooper! So cute!

Catrice Self-Made Bae Eyeshadow Palette - Swatches, Look and Review!

I've been really impressed with the Catrice products that I've tried and they are fairly new to Shopper's Drug Mart in Canada and I've already had their products in three of my four Monthly Favourites post of this year - the foundation in January, the Catrice x Eman eyeshadow palette in February, and the priming spray in April

This palette was received as a PR sample - this post contains affiliate links

So, any chance I get to try Catrice, I will take it because they are affordable drugstore products that are good quality!

Magical Self-Care Bath Night

I've talked a whole lot about self-care on here because I love to relax and take care of myself - I can have a pretty stressful job and crazy family stuff going on, so I have learned to take good care of myself! Self-care is different for everyone; but, these are the kinds of self-care that works for me!

Magical Self-Care Bath Night
The bath bomb was received as a PR sample - this post contains affiliate links

I think with everything going on in the world right now, I'm not only looking for self-care; but, I'm also looking for a bit of an escape from reality! So, I've put together a few products that help with having a bit of an escape right in your own home!

Manicure Monday - May the 4th Floral Nails

Happy Manicure Monday! So, we picked May Flowers for our #CBBxManiMonday theme for May; but, today is also May the 4th and I wanted to do both themes, so what was a girl supposed to do?!

Manicure Monday - May the 4th Floral Nails
The OPI was received as a PR sample

So, I stuck with the floral theme for my nails, but had to throw a little Star Wars in, so I picked up some Baby Yoda macarons from Ollia and made sure my floral nails matched my baby yoda!

April 2020 - Monthly Empties and Month in Masks

Here is a look at my beauty garbage from April:

April 2020 - Monthly Empties and Month in Masks
Some products were received as PR samples - this post contains affiliate links

Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder ~ $8.00 CAN. The Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder is a loose powder that helps absorb oil and excess sebum.

I just finished this up in my 20 in 2020 Project Pan - I've had this since 2015 and it was time to use it up. It's not a bad powder, but I'm just not super in to loose powders in my routine anymore. This was super fine and I thought it creased under my eyes a little.
Repurchase: Nah

April 2020 What I Bought - Monthly Haul!

April 2020 What I Bought - Monthly Haul!

Cheekbone Beauty ~ $36.96 CAN. I have been meaning to try Cheekbone Beauty for a while - I really like the owner's story, she's worked hard for this company and it is a Canadian brand owned by an indigenous women. They are working towards being a no-waste company and I think that's such a great mission! So, I picked up a new Sustain lipstick in Keyah - you can see it on me here! It's a really nice formula.

Five on Friday - May 1, 2020

Happy Friday everyone! I'm so happy it's Friday - this week has just been a little blah. I've been feeling a little all over the place and I just couldn't get in to a good routine and I'm just feeling a little overwhelmed and extra anxious. I think it's because I worked from home last week and now I'm back to work, so it's just felt like a longer week! I'm hoping to have a good me-time night this weekend and just myself back on track.

ONE

I purchased everything in this post

I really contemplated not doing a Monthly Makeup Basket for May - we now have to wear masks every day at work, so I'm certainly wearing a lot less makeup. But, it felt a little like giving up and I do still like to wear a little bit of face makeup just to get myself ready in the morning! So instead, I decided to focus on the face products that I have in my Project Pan (I had originally been focusing on those in addition to my Monthly Makeup Basket), and an old favourite face palette that I know I will keep even if I get minimal use out of it.
