Best of 2018 - Makeup Discoveries!

I have loved a toooooon of makeup this year, so it was hard to pick my Favorites that I tried this year! I call this makeup discoveries, because this is just a list of the best of everything that I tried in 2018 (mostly new for 2018, but sometimes I'm late to the game).

Best of 2018 - Makeup Discoveries!

I really did love so many products this year, so this is really the best of everything I've tried this year (so, if you look back at my Monthly Favorites or you saw me rave about another product - don't worry, I still love those too!)

I don't have something from every category of makeup; because, I'd rather just pick products without worrying about what's the best eyeliner, because I didn't try a ton of foundations or eyeliners this year! Anyways, let's look closer at my loves:

Best of 2018 - Makeup Discoveries!
Natasha Denona Mini Palettes - Sunset, Lila and Star ~ $33.00 CAN each!

I'm not going to lie, I'm super surprised to see these palettes in peoples Worst of 2018 products; because, I think they are amazing! The formula of the shadows is gorgeous - you can seriously put these on with no primer and the pigmentation and lasting power is unreal, you would be able to wear them all day and all night without any fading! The mattes blend so well and all the shimmers and metallics are gorgeous!

These are my go-to for when I don't want to mess around with my shadows, I just a need a quick but perfect shadow look! I've reviewed them all, so you can see my thoughts, swatches and reviews on all the palettes here: Sunset, Lila and Star. (These should really come as no surprise because I've raved about them all, and I noticed they just released a mini Nude palette and I will be picking it up ASAP!)

ColourPop Take Me Home Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ~ $12.00 US/$15.00 CAN. This mini 6 pan palette has you covered for your everyday necessities. Includes the perfect, best-selling warm-toned shades, a mix of matte and metallic finishes, and a mirror, this baby is a keeper. Keep one in your purse for touch ups or keep it displayed on your vanity, it’ll be a staple in your collection.

Okay, does it make me a bit of an ass to include a product that isn't available anymore?! I can't quite figure out why ColourPop pumps out so many products and then gets rid of them so quickly. I think this might have been made for when ColourPop was briefly available on Sephora. But, if you happen to have this or can find it, it's an amazing neutral go-to mini palette. The picture doesn't quite do it justice actually - the shadows are so pretty. You can see a full review with looks here. This was an early year fav; but, I have taken this on every trip with me because it's perfect for a neutral look!

Too Faced Cosmetics White Peach Eye Shadow Palette ~ $55.00 CAN. White Peach was created with matte, shimmer, and glitter shadows that add dimension and light to the rest of the Too Faced Peaches and Cream collection. Infused with refreshing peach and sweet fig cream, this palette features an assortment of sparkling peach, champagne, soft pink, and deep plum shades that smell and feel delicious—for a modern way to take your peaches and cream look to the next level.

Again, this is a product that has been popping in up in Worst of 2018 videos and I keep thinking what crappy taste I have in makeup! I'm kidding; but, I know my day-to-day taste is pretty neutral and basic (specific work place), so really something that I can wear every day to work is perfect. I love that these shadows are really light and I know the biggest complaint is that there isn't any deep shadows, and I agree that they could have deepened it up a touch; but, it's deep enough for my every day looks and I love the formula, shades, and scent! And, I've reviewed this too - you can see 3 looks and swatches here

Best of 2018 - Makeup Discoveries!

Burt's Bees Blush in "Shy Pink" ~ $14.99 CAN. Glow beautifully and naturally, wherever you go. Our Blush applies and blends easily and evenly. This 100% natural, lightweight mineral makeup features Bamboo, Honey and Vitamin E to nourish skin and enhance your cheeks’ natural glow for beautiful results, inside and out. Choose from three luminous shades that complement a variety of skin tones, from fair to dark.

The Burt's Bees makeup collection really surprised me - there was some great products in the line! But, this blush has been a total standout! I have not stopped wearing it since I got it! It's the perfect pink on my cheek for a flush, without being too bright. It's a touch on the powdery side; but, it applies so nicely! You can see a full look with Burt's Bees and this blush here

Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Pencil in 4 ~ $32.00 CAN. A ultra-fine brow shaping and defining pencil that draws incredibly natural hair-like strokes that last up to 12-hours.

Benefit certainly knows brow products and this has been my go-to since I received it too! It is just the perfect balance of creamy but stiff so it applies nicely to the brow and the shade is perfect for my brows. There isn't much else to say, it's totally replaced my It Cosmetics brow product and that's saying a lot!

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil ~ sample size shown (full size is $55.00 CAN). An ultra-light, fast-absorbing face oil that doubles as a face primer—imparting a glowing, radiant look with a dewy finish.

This primer is amazing - my absolute go-to Winter/Spring primer! It took me a long time to get on the oil primer bandwagon (mainly because post-baby and not going back on birth control has made my skin much oiler than it used to be). But, in the drier months this makes my skin look amazing - I get a ton of compliments on my skin when I'm wearing this under my foundation! It's gorgeous!

Too Faced Peach Blur Translucent Smoothing Finishing Powder ~ $38.00 CAN. An innovative blurring and finishing powder for a flawless-looking complexion.

This powder is gorgeous - it is described as a translucent, peach coloured powder that helps smooth imperfections. I think this is a really subtle product; but, to me that is what a finishing powder is! After all foundation, setting powder ect, I
apply this before blush/highlighter/bronzer just to give a final finish to my base. It really blurs everything together and adds the most beautiful finish to the skin. It's really nice and doesn't change the colour of my base and just smooths out!

Best of 2018 - Makeup Discoveries!

Pixi Beauty Mattelast Liquid Lip in "Really Rose" ~ $20.00 CAN. Extremely longwearing & comfortable, infused with rosehip oil. Quickly sets to a matte veil while leaving lips hydrated.

This is hands down the most comfortable liquid lipstick formula that I have ever tried! The applicator is lovely - it is a great shape for applying to the lips and getting a precise line around the edge! It wears so wear all day and is comfortable to wear. Plus, this shade is gorgeous!! You can see it on me here if you are interested!

Marc Jacobs Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick in "One Mauve Time" ~ $37.00 CAN. A sheer lip gloss in a stick with an irresistible, melt-on, cushiony texture that delivers conditioning color with a high-shine finish.

If you are tired of my excessive gushing about how much I love these products, I'm not done yet! This is by far the most lovely lip gloss/lip balm formula that I have ever tried! It's so comfortable and just melts on the lips. It's not super long wearing; but, it leaves the lips feeling soft with a hint of colour so you don't need to keep applying! It's so lovely and it's the only thing I carry around in purse now! And, of course I've reviewed this and tried it on too - you can see the original post here

Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask ~ mini size shown here (full size is $26.00 CAN). A leave-on lip mask that soothes and moisturizes for smoother, more supple lips overnight.

I will be totally honest, when I got this at first, I wasn't sure what the hype was about - it just worked like a lip balm overnight. Wrong - I tried to use a normal lip balm overnight again like I used to, and when and I woke up half way through the night, I noticed how dry my lips were. This lip mask actually hydrates the lips all night and they are soft in the morning - plus, it just feels like a soft lip balm formula when it applies! Once you try it, you'll be hooked! I'm trying a different lip mask now and I really miss this one!

Pat McGrath MatteTrance Lipstick in "Omi" ~ $32.00 for a trio of minis, or $52.00 CAN for full size. A richly pigmented lipstick that adorns lips in a lightweight veil of opaque color for a modern, matte finish.

I know this is a new product to me (within the last 2 months); but, that's how good this formula is - it is smoothing and soft on the lips, while leaving a gorgeous matte finish! I have the little mini size, which I picked up in the Lust: Mini MatteTrance Lipstick Trio in "Skin Show" which is an awesome little set - you can see the whole trio on me here! But, you call also pick it up full size and it's a gorgeous colour! The formula of this lipstick is gorgeous - it may be one of my favorites ever. It goes on smooth, velvety and opaque - they are smoothing and long lasting on the lips too! Ugh, it's so good!
