January Shop My Stash - Pantone Colour of the Year Ultimate Grey & Illuminating Makeup Look

I've taken a couple month break from my Shop My Stash looks because I had a ton of makeup to get through, so I'm excited to jump back in and play and create fun looks with my makeup stash!

I decided for my first look of the year, that I was going to go out of my comfort zone and do a makeup look inspired by Pantone's Colours of the Year for 2021 - Ultimate Grey and Illuminating! They chose two colours, grey and yellow for "a marriage of color conveying a message of strength and hopefulness that is both enduring and uplifting."

Ranking All The Eyeshadow Palettes I Tried In 2020!

Eyeshadow palettes have been my favourite makeup product, and will always be - so they always get the most focus on the blog! I always try to review or swatch all the palettes I get picked because it's important to share what's good and what's not!

I picked up 23 new palettes throughout 2020 - most I purchased myself, some came in subscription boxes, a few were received as PR samples, and one was a gift!

Five on Friday - October 9, 2020

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all had a great week - I actually took off Thursday and Friday to spend some time with the family and it was really lovely. (It's a little worrisome about seeing too many people as Alberta's covid case numbers are on the rise, but we are just sticking to our immediate family).

Fall Reading List
Magic Lessons and Legendborn were sent as e-ARCs - this post contains affiliate links

I usually share my book themes of the month later; but, since we should all be spending our long weekend hunkered in and reading, I'm jumping in a little early! My Fall Reading list started with Fairytale retellings last month, and for October we are going full on Witchy Magical reads! They feel perfect for Halloween month, and I can't read anything too scary because I'm a bit of a wimp!

August Shop My Stash - Summery Pinky Coral Look and Duping the Vibes of the Pat McGrath Labs Mothership Rose Decadence Eyeshadow Palette

I always look forward to my Shop My Stash looks every month - it's been such a great way to dive in to my makeup collection and just play!

I've also been using my Shop My Stash posts as a way to see if I can "Dupe The Vibes" of new eyeshadow palettes that I want to pick up; but, don't really need to because I have close enough products in my collection! I'm well aware that I buy a ton of makeup and I now a lot of it is duplicates; but, one of the reasons that I put myself on a budget is so that I can be more mindful and not buy absolutely everything that catches my eye!

Five on Saturday - March 14, 2020 ~ Natasha Denona, ColourPop, Marc Jacobs Beauty, Glamlite Cosmetics and Moschino + Sephora Collection palettes!

Happy Saturday everyone! I'm doing something a little different for this Five on Saturday post and I'm taking a week break of sharing my life update (because it's been a really heavy new and information week). I'm sharing 5 palettes that I've been keeping in my collection for a while and totally missed getting reviews up on them in a timely fashion!

I did this as well in November as a little break and now all the palettes in my collection as shared on the blog! know this sounds like a lame problem - but as a blogger, I feel like I have to photograph and review everything I pick up and there is products that I want to use and at this point feel a little too old to have a whole post dedicated to only them! So, they still deserve a little love on here!

Five on Friday - March 6, 2020

Happy Friday everyone and Happy March!!! Okay, while January dragged on forever, February just flew by! I always love March because it means the end of Winter is coming (although in Calgary, Spring in snowy season for a few more months), but I'm looking forward to some warmer weather!

ONE

I still think I'm playing a little catch-up this week - I had the worst cold last week and all of last weekend. It totally wiped me out and I couldn't do anything! I actually felt really rough at the start of this week too. I couldn't even do anything fun for the extra Leap Year day we had! But, I'm finally feeling better now!

TWO

I purchased everything in this post - this post contains affiliate links

I'm keeping up my Monthly Makeup Baskets for 2020 because I really enjoyed that they helped me shop my stash and allowed me to use and love everything in my collection! I always like to remember the older products and not let them get pushed aside when I get something shiny and new!

Five on Saturday - February 22, 2020

Happy Saturday everyone! Hope you all had a great week - it was a short week for us here, which usually makes for a busier work week, so I'm so happy for the weekend!

The palette I will share was received as a gift, everything else was purchased than me

Yesterday and today are Toxin-Free days at Rocky Mountain Soap Co. If you are signed up for their emails, you are on the list to get a free 100 ml shampoo and conditioner (you can either go in store or order online if you don't have a store near you).

My Favourite Makeup Product of 2019

Yay!!! It's time to delve in to the best of the best products - I'm going to be recapping all the products I've loved in 2019; but, I have to dedicate a post to the best of the best product for me and that is Liquid and Cream Glitter Shimmery eyeshadows!!!

My Favourite Makeup Product of 2019
Some products may have been received as PR samples

This should come as no surprise to anyone here because I've been featuring these shimmery shadows all year long! I have personally gone a little crazy trying all the shimmer shadows I could get my hands on and I've really loved most of the formulas that I've tried!

Clearly this month is a little heavy on the glitter eye shadows - I tried so many in November and December, and there was so many that I really loved that I couldn't help but include more than one!

December 2019 What I Bought - Monthly Haul!

Time for a look at everything I picked up in December - I really love these Monthly Haul posts - they give me a way to share everything I pick up each month as I don't always post about everything I get!

For 2019, I put myself on "stricter" $100 a month budget, not because I need to; it's actually to be more conscious about what I purchase. I also really want to make sure that I'm enjoying and using everything on my collection! But, over the past couple of months, I got a little less strict and went over budget! (I still think I'm being a little more thoughtful in my purchases while I go overboard!)

I purchased everything in this post

Shoppers Drug Mart Haul ~ $50.64 CAN. (I also redeemed $220.00 worth of Optimum points). Alright, I love when Shoppers has a point redemption event, so I stocked up! I picked up a back up of the Estee Lauder Double Wear, as well as Double Wear Light. Then I picked up a Too Faced Glitter Glue, Urban Decay Naked concealer (hoping to replace my Naked Skin concealer), then I picked up the Catrice, Patchology, Quo and bath bomb sets - that I featured in my Stocking Stuffers post. I picked up the Quo crackers that were supposed to arrive before my friends Christmas party, so now I will save them for next year! I also bought the Catrice mascara and liner as well as a Double Cleanser from the Inkey List!

High-end Liquid, Cream and Shimmer Eyeshadow Roundup - Try-ons, Swatches and Thoughts

I've picked up so many new liquid and cream shimmer shadows, that I thought the best way to show them all off is a round-up post! Last week I did a round up of the drugstore shadows that I've tried recently - you can check it out here

High-end Liquid, Cream and Shimmer Eyeshadow Roundup - Try-ons, Swatches and Thoughts
All shadows were purchased by me - this post contains affiliate links

And, now it's time for all the high-end shadows, so be prepared for a little steeper prices than last week! Last week's post talked about shadows that were $7 - $20, so this week's lowest priced shadow is $26. I love a little splurge and I tend to use these style of shadows all the time, so it makes it worth it for me (but I keep my standards really high when I'm spending this much on a single shadow!

November 2019 - Monthly Empties & Month in Masks

Time to dig in to my beauty garbage from November!

Some products were received as PR - this post contains affiliate links

Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer ~ sample shown (full size is $45.00 CAN). A replenishing face primer that hydrates, smoothes, and brightens skin for a dewy, healthy looking finish.

This was a really hydrating primer - I liked the faint coconut scent and it was really nourishing. With my combo/oily skin I could probably only get away with using this in the Winter!
Repurchase: Probably not

The Body Shop Haul ~ $32.55 CAN. How cute is this little banana shampoo and conditioner set?! It's called "Go Bananas" and I love it! The shampoo and conditioner are my favourite and the little banana towel is super cute! Plus, I wanted to pick up the Vitamin E mask to try it again as my first experience wasn't the best with it.

Five on Saturday - November 16, 2019

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you all had a great week - I love a short work week, but man do they ever feel extra busy?! I've had a crazy week and my toddler has been a total maniac too (up one day at 3:30 and didn't go back to bed and let's just say that I am happy it's the weekend!)

ONE

Some of these products were gifts and others in this post I purchased myself - this post contains affiliate links

Last week I turned 33 and I was awaiting a little Sephora order to come in before I shared my birthday gifts! I have been waiting forever for Erin Morgenstern to release her second book - I have actually read and listened to The Night Circus at least 5 or 6 times and it's easily my favourite stand alone book - it gets better and better every time I read it! So, I was very excited when I saw that The Starless Sea was being released 2 days before my birthday, I couldn't wait. Then, Erin announced back in September that she would be signing books and sending them through The Odyssey Bookshop - I immediately suggested to my husband what I perfect gift it would be and it arrived right in time for my birthday! (Also, a signed copy of The Night Circus too because it's so special to me).

October 2019 - Monthly Empties!

Time to look at my beauty empties:

Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer in Medium/Deep ~ travel size shown here ($40.00 CAN full size). A long-wearing, rich, matte bronzer infused with 100 percent real cocoa powder.

I know you've this bronzer a lot over the months because it was in my Summer Project Pan and I got so much use out of it that it was almost finished by the time I was done the project! And, I managed to finish this off a few weeks later - even though this is a mini, it still is awesome to have finished it!
Repurchased: Not until I'm done my other bronzers (But, this was a good formula!)

Best of 2018 - Makeup Discoveries!

I have loved a toooooon of makeup this year, so it was hard to pick my Favorites that I tried this year! I call this makeup discoveries, because this is just a list of the best of everything that I tried in 2018 (mostly new for 2018, but sometimes I'm late to the game).

Best of 2018 - Makeup Discoveries!

I really did love so many products this year, so this is really the best of everything I've tried this year (so, if you look back at my Monthly Favorites or you saw me rave about another product - don't worry, I still love those too!)

August 2018 - Monthly Favorites!

Here's a look at the top 5 products that I have been loving in August:

August 2018 - Monthly Favorites!

Natasha Denona Mini Blush & Glow ~ $23.00 CAN. A mini compact that’s perfect for giving cheeks the ultimate pop of color and glow on-the-go.

I love these little minis - this is such a great little set! The blush is a #14, described as a golden coral blush with a shimmery finish. The highlighter is All Over Glow Face & Body Shimmer in Powder #1 - light, a champagne shade. I did not reach for another blush and highlight for most of the month because I just loved the glow this set gave!

I will say right away that this duo isn't for everyone - it's definitely made for lighter skin tones. I'm in the light to light-medium tone and the shades work well on me; but, I'm not sure if you were darker than that, how well this would work on you. I do think they should release a couple of these in different shade sets. This is a really light blush shade and I like that it applies subtly and can be built up for a look that you like. I also love the shimmery finish of the blush in the Summer - it just gives such a nice glow on the cheeks! The highlighter is gorgeous as well. The formula is nice - I will have a review of this up soon!

Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick in "One Mauve Time"

I personally haven't splurged on many Marc Jacobs before; but, after hearing all the rave reviews on this lip gloss, I had to try it - it sounds perfect for me!

Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamored Hydrating Lip Gloss Stick in "One Mauve Time"

This hydrating lip gloss sounded right up my alley! I really love lip products; but, in my day to day life I just can't wear a bright bold shade - it doesn't work for my work environment and if there is a chance that I will have lipstick smudges when I'm out with kids, I won't wear it! So, on most days I usually just reach for a tinted lip balm to give my lips a hint of colour! This just seems like a step up from a tinted lip balm.

July 2018 What I Bought This Month - Monthly Haul!

Before we get in to this post, let's remember that last month I spent less than $60 for the whole month - so, that should excuse me from having to introduce myself as a shopaholic for this month!

I love these Haul posts because for me, it's a way of sharing everything I pick up throughout a month - honestly, I buy so much stuff that if I don't share it here, it might not pop up until my empties post! Let me know if there is anything you want to see a full post on, just let me know and I will do it!)

Also, I do "try" to stick to a monthly budget of $100, and these posts are supposed to keep me in check! I can go a little crazy sometimes with new things though - why is there so much new makeup being released all the time?! I will only include products I have spent money on - gifts, pr samples, and freebies are usually shared on posts like my Five on Friday posts!

Here is a look at everything I bought in July:

July 2018 What I Bought This Month - Monthly Haul!

Sephora Haul #1 ~ $54.60 CAN. Yes, there is going to be multiple Sephora hauls this month - I fully admit, I went a little crazy! All of the sudden, facial rollers just popped on the scene and were everywhere so of course I had to pick one up! This is the Mount Lai Mini De-puffing Jade Facial Roller (and it's amazing) and I also picked up the Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser. The deluxe add on coupon with this order was a mini Tom Ford lipstick (which I can't wait to try!) and my mini samples were from Sol De Janeiro, Darphin and Ren!
