March 2020 - Monthly Empties and Month in Masks

Here's a look at all my beauty garbage from March and what I loved and didn't:

March 2020 - Monthly Empties and Month in Masks
Some products may have been received as PR samples - this post contains affiliate links

Skindinavia The Makeup Finishing Spray - Bridal ~ $29.00 US for 4 oz. or $39.00 US for 8 oz (this is the 4 oz bottle). Our ultra-fine mist spray has patented technology designed to resist the effect of excess moisture and help keep makeup flawless all day and all night.

This is a pretty easy favourite setting spray and it was featured in my Favourite Setting Sprays post I did awhile back, so I clearly love this - it's been a love since way back in July 2016. I also recently featured this in my Shop My Stash where I use products that will weather proof my makeup for a long night and this is the best formula of setting spray by far!
Repurchase: I have a few other kinds to use first, but, yes!

Wet n Wild Megaliner Liquid Eyeliners in Gilded Wings ~ $2.99 US.

This was a metallic gold liquid eyeliner that came in the Flights of Fancy Hummingbird inspired collection from Summer 2018 - I didn't use this a whole lot because I don't have an incredible demand for looks with a gold liner, but I did really recently use it in a Shop My Stash post and it was pretty - but, it was hard to use as it dried up, so time to go!
Repurchase: No

Glamglow Glowstarter Mega Illuminating Moisturizer in Nude Glow ~ sample size (full size is $64.00 CAN). A daily illuminating moisturizer to give your skin an instant hydrated glow—with hyaluronic acid, green tea, and highlighting pearl particles, your skin will be moisturized, energized, and glowing.

I really like this moisturizer - it's super glowy and bright and it's amazing mixed with a light tinted moisturizer just for a gentle glow to the skin (you can see it on me like that here!) This also smells so good! (I just used up a deluxe sample as well last month, so I've really been enjoying this and it's great mixed with the Graydon Face Glow, which is how I've been using it!)

Repurchase: I did really like it and I have another sample to use!

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Radiant Touch ~ $52.00 US. Touche Eclat conceals dark circles and highlights your best features, adding instant radiance to your face.

I don't know about this - I did use the whole thing up, but I didn't really love it. I sort of think that YSL would be made for a more "mature" skin, based on pricing and demographic, but I thought that this almost accentuated any small lines I do have under my eyes and it just wasn't flattering on me. You can see it in a Shop My Stash look if you're interested, but this isn't worth the price for me at all.
Repurchase: No

Catrice Rock Couture Extreme Volume Mascara ~ $9.99 CAN. Catrice's Rock Couture Extreme Volume Mascara is a deep black mascara for extreme volume, length and curl that lasts all day long.

I'm quite picky about my mascara formulas and I didn't love this one. You can see the mascara on me here in a Full Face of Catrice look, and it made my lashes look fine, but the formula itself was a little too wet for me and I found it rather clumpy. But, then it was also really flaky throughout the day and I found little flecks got in my eye and was quite uncomfortable to wear actually. I also don't like this wand either.

Repurchase: Nope

Graydon Face Glow ~ $46.00 CAN. Our lightweight tinted moisturizing primer delivers brightening and highlighting effects for an overall dewy, healthy-looking radiance that shows off your “no-makeup” makeup look.

This is called a tinted primer, but can been used as a tinted moisturizer too - I've been mixing it will the Glamglow tinted moisturizer for a sheer coverage light look and it's worked really well for that.
Repurchase: Possibly, I have a few products offering a little more coverage that I've been enjoying

Shiseido Luminizing Satin Face Color in "RD103 Petal" ~ sample size (full size is $30 CAN). All-day true color. Silky-smooth finish. Beautiful, shiny color with just one stroke. Create a multi-dimensional look with blush and highlighters to add depth and glowing radiance.

Spoiler alert from my 20 in 2020 Project Pan - I finished a blush! Woo hoo! I know this is only a deluxe sample, but still it's not every day you finish a blush, so this felt very satisfying to use up! This was a good blush and looked really nice on - you can see it in a Shop My Stash look here, but I really enjoyed this!
Repurchase: Nah, I've got a ton more blushes!

March 2020 - Monthly Empties and Month in Masks

No7 Nourishing Cleansing Balm ~ $14.00 CAN. A nourishing cleansing balm which works to dissolve away make-up, impurities, and pollutants. Enriched with nourishing oils to help gently smooth away dryness, without leaving any residue. Leaves skin feeling perfectly clean, soothed, and silky soft.

If you saw my recent Spring Cleaning post about new cleansers, then you already know that this cleansing balm did not work for me. The fragrance was sooo strong and my skin reacted to this - so, this isn't an "empty" but it needs to leave my collection. It didn't work incredibly well either... sadly...

Repurchase: NO

Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Nail Color in Mint Sorbet ~ $2.77 CAN.

Sally Hansen Xtreme wear was my go-to polish for years - I almost exclusively wore it, until the past couple of years I have been expanding to other brands. This is a really solid formula and it wears well - this particular polish just dried up, but you can see Mint Sorbet in action here if you want to see what the colour looks like on me!
Repurchase: Yes, I would I love this shade

Fresh Lotus Anti- Aging Daily Moisturizer ~ $63.00 CAN. A daily lightweight moisturizer powered by new multiaction Super Lotus to target first signs of aging for radiant, resilient, youthful-looking skin.

I think this moisturizer has rebranded because I won't lie, I have all my products bagged from years because I'm really trying to use older products up! So this one is from 2017, so I think they've changed the name, ect. The moisturizer was fine (it was sealed since I got it) and it was a lovely moisturizer - I thought it was good for day time, but I didn't think it was moisturizing enough for nighttime, but good for day!
Repurchase: Maybe, but I have so many moisturizers to get through!

Oh K! SOS Clear Cover Blemish Patches ~ $6.99 CAN. Cover your spots through the day or night with these cute, shaped and ingredient-impregnated blemish patches.

I love my pimple patches and I have been loyal to the Cosrx ones for years, but they aren't the easiest to find in Canada - I always have to order them. So, I thought I'd try some new brands that are more readily available and this was the first one I tried. These were okay, they worked - I don't think they worked as fast as the Cosrx ones and the shapes were a little weird, I ended up sort ripping a few of them trying to peel them off the backing and they just were a little different to use. They were okay, but not enough to convince me to jump off the Cosrx ship!
Repurchase: Nah... not likely

Joe Fresh Cotton Pads ~ $2.00 CAN.

I always say that these are just good; but, once you use a really crappy cotton pad, you realize that these ones are actually really good! Really good! These ones work well for my face and nails, so they are good!

Repurchase: Yes

March 2020 - Monthly Empties and Month in Masks

The Body Shop Strawberry Clearly Glossing Shampoo ~ $6.00 CAN for 60 ml (full size is $11.00 to $16.00 CAN). Feed dull hair with our Strawberry Clearly Glossing Shampoo. Enriched with mouth-watering Italian strawberries, the silicone-free, 100% vegan formula adds shine and helps detangle for soft, sweet-smelling locks all day long.

The Body Shop Strawberry Clearly Glossing Conditioner ~ $11.00 CAN for 250 ml (travel size shown here). Revive dull hair with our Strawberry Clearly Glossing Conditioner, leaving your locks smoother, shinier and smelling of fresh Italian strawberries.

I got this little set in an advent calendar and I liked them - they smell so good! I really like the banana set, so this one was okay - it didn't quite make it to 2 day without needing dry shampoo but I did really like the way my hair looked with this!
Repurchase: Maybe, but I prefer the banana set

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk - Ultra Gentle ~ $7.49 CAN for travel size (also $15.49 CAN). Dry shampoo with Oat Milk for all hair types. With its gentle formula, it cleans hair without water.

I used to use Klorane dry shampoo exclusively; but, I've been trying other formulas for years and finally decided to go back to this one. And, it was a good choice - this is a good formula. I do think it works well, but it does have a slight white-cast, so I do prefer to use it at night.
Repurchase: Yes

OGX Coconut Miracle Oil Dry Shampoo ~ $9.99 CAN. Infused with coconut oil, essence of tiare and vanilla bean extract. Helps extend your style and revive your locks.

This was a pretty good dry shampoo - I do think it gave a little bit of volume and it worked to control the oil, but it wasn't anything exceptional. I did use it all up so that's a plus, but it's probably not a formula that I'm rushing out for.
Repurchase: Eh, probably not...

Crest ProHealth Advanced Rinse ~ $7.99 CAN.

This is the best mouthwash ever - I hate mouthwashing (is that okay to admit here?!) but this one doesn't taste quite as terrible burning as the rest!

Repurchase: Yes

Mitchum Clinical Soft Solid ~ $8.99 CAN.

Deodorant is nothing special; but, I love the clinical strength formula and this brand is my go-to. I like that it is both an antiperspirant and a deodorant.
Repurchase: Yes

March 2020 - Monthly Empties and Month in Masks

The Body Shop Satsuma Shower Gel ~ $25.00 CAN for 750 ml (also comes in smaller sizes for $6.00 - $10.00 CAN). Wake up your shower and refresh your senses as you lather up with our zesty satsuma shower gel. This soap-free cleanser will leave you feeling soft and refreshed.

This is a huge shower gel that has lasted forever! I also used this as a bubble bath because it smelled so good! Satsuma is a classic and it's such a fresh, uplifting scent! This was good.
Repurchase: Yes probably!

March 2020 - Monthly Empties and Month in Masks

Lush Princess Bomb Bomb ~ $9.95 CAN. Drop in one (or both) of your noble bombs and bathe in verdant waters perfumed with woodsy cedarwood, bergamot and ylang ylang oils. Benzoin resinoid adds a sweet vanilla note as it softens and soothes weary skin, ending your audience with the princess on a regally relaxing note.

How adorable is this little princess bath bomb - she came in a Christmas collection in 2018 I believe (I'm a little slow in tackling my bath bomb collection), but she's so stinkin cute. I used her for two baths and she was lovely and smelled so great!

Repurchase: Maybe, if she's ever available again!

So, I used up 20 products in March and I'm impressed that I used up multiple makeup products in the month!

And here are the masks I used in March:

March 2020 - Monthly Empties and Month in Masks

Peach Slices Calm Mask ~ $2.49 US. A delightful blend of jasmine, known for its healing, moisturizing properties, and relaxing chamomile in this natural cotton sheet mask work to instantly restore skin – and being – into a calm, soothed state.

Peach Slices is a hard-to-find brand in Canada, but I have been wanting to try them, so I picked up a few when I was in the US months ago. I have tried a couple of the brand's masks and I've really liked them. I did think that this was nice and calming on the skin and I enjoyed it.
Repurchase: Yes, I would

Sistine Herbal Collagen x Retinol Cherub Eye Mask ~ $9.95 CAN per set. Key herbal agents— RETINOL and COLLAGEN, along with a natural blend of ingredients, rids the eyes of fatigue, dark circles, crow’s feet, and wrinkles. Hydration is achieved, and puffy eyes are eradicated!

These eye masks are actually in the shape of little cherubs - you can them on my December 2019 Tribe Beauty box post and  they are super cute! They actually worked pretty well - they were cooling and brightening and I really liked them! Nice and refreshing!

Repurchase: Maybe!

So, in March I used up 22 products and I'm going to add up the totals of each category I'm using up to see how much I use up by the end of 2020, so these numbers are from the start of the year:
-Makeup: 20
-Skincare: 22
-Bath and Body: 8
-Haircare: 9
-Nails: 2
-Masks: 10
-Other: 13

  1. I love the Skindinavia formula as well and stocked up on a couple of bottles from years ago. Even though they make the Urban Decay setting sprays, I still prefer the actual Skindinavia branded sprays...they just smell and feel different. Good job with the empties though! I am currently working on that Satsuma shower gel too!

    1. I've heard they are the same formula, but I don't like the Urban Decay one as much! Those shower gels take soooo long to get through!
