Clionadh Cosmetics Stained Glass Collection Eyeshadows - Swatches, Eye Swatches and Makeup Looks!

I started hearing about Clionadh Cosmetics last year - they are a Canadian indie makeup brand and I was pretty impressed with the eyeshadows they were releasing last year. They came out with their Stained Glass multichrome shadow line and I had to get some when I could!

They announced in January that they were doing a restock of the line plus adding some new categories and colours of shadows in the range, plus they were doing a 15% sale of the whole range, so I picked up a few singles to try out the Stained Glass shadows!

I purchased these shadows myself

I ordered from the sale at the end of January and just received my order at the end of March - Clionadh shadows are all handmade and the brand let everyone know that they received more orders during that sale than the whole of 2019, so their production time was a little slower than usual. Also, given the current pandemic as well as their production time, all orders are currently on pre-order status and won't ship for a couple of months.

It feels a little ill-timed to share new makeup (especially products I'm really excited about) as a lot of people aren't shopping right now; but, I was really excited to finally dig in to these as I have been waiting for quite a while to try them!

The Stained Glass Collection was inspired by the beautiful art of stained glass and the vibrant tones used to create these masterpieces. This collection has 92 shadows in the line and includes a range of multichrome shadows ranging from Jewelled to Iridescent to Glitter to Pastel. The shadows are 100% vegan, cruelty free, talc and paraben free.

I picked up one shadow in each line to try out all the different types of multichromes! The shadows range from $10 - $25 Canadian depending on the type of shadow and Clionadh claims to make their shadows with pure, high-grade cosmetic-approved pigments and no fillers (only what is required as a binder), so the shadows are high-quality and pigmented.

Glisten ~ $10.50 CAN. Is an iridescent pressed glitter shadow. It has a nearly invisible base with colour shifting reflects that go from violet-pink-orange-gold.

Rose Line ~ $17.00 CAN. Has a brown base that shifts of pinky-rose to orange and yellow; with medium-sized glitter particles.

Burnt Sienna ~ $20.00 CAN. A red-orange-gold shifter with a tan base.

Kaleidoscope ~ $10.00 CAN. Has a semi-sheer pink base with small glitter particles that shift from lime-turquoise-blue-pink.

Glisten is an Iridescent Glitter Multichrome ~ these shadows look white in the pan; but, they have an intense colour shifting reflect. With a nearly transparent base, they work on all skin tones. This is a combination with the glitter shadows as well.

I found this shadow a little chunky - it was my very first shadow I tried in the line and I was a little worried. It did smooth out when it was applied to the lid and ended up being workable, but it is really pretty!

Rose Line is a Hybrid Multichrome ~ these shadows are a mix between the Jewelled and Glitter formula - they behave like small or medium glitters but have the tones of the jewelled lines. They are a buildable formula, from a wash of glimmer or can be packed on for full saturation.

This is a stunning shadow shade and is so gorgeous and glittery - I like that it could be a glitter eyeshadow colour; but, can be built up for a more intense colour! This is one of my favourite shades! It's so gorgeous.

Burnt Sienna is a Deep Iridescent Multichrome ~ the deep refers to the depth of the base tone of the shadows - these have a tanned base that don't leave a white cast when built up, so they are made to be more inclusive and ideal for medium and deeper skintones.

How many times do you think I can say stunning in this post?! Hint - it's going to be a lot. This shadow is really gorgeous. While it looks quite orange when applied to the lid alone, but when applied in a whole look, the shimmer really showed and it was so beautiful on. This is another shade that would work well in a daily look or built up to a more intense look!

Kaleidoscope is a Glitter Multichrome ~ these are glitter shadows and apply well when patted on with a finger, and would benefit from a primer or glitter glue. These are delicate, so be gentle when using the shadows.

Clearly I love some pink based shadows and this one is very glittery - when applied alone, really only the pink was visible but when used in a full look the blueish tones really came through as well!

Sand Blast ~ $25.00 CAN. Shifts from orange-gold-lime.

Luminaire ~ $10.50 CAN. Has a nearly invisible base with colour shifting reflects that go from red-orange-gold.

Throne ~ $17.00 CAN. Has a bright yellow base with reflects that shift from pink-gold-green.

Cathedral ~ $14.00 CAN. Yellow pastel base, shifts orange-gold-lime.

Sand Blast is a Jewelled Multichrome ~ these are finely milled, ultra rich pigments and they have a black base and intense colour shifting reflects. They’re packed with a very high pigment concentration, so the end result is a saturated, vibrantly shifting shadow.

This shadow is so gorgeous - this is certainly what comes to mind when I picture a multichrome as it's very pigmented and the shifts are very visible. With my use, these are best packed on with fingers, if they are buffed out they tend to lose the shift. But packed on they were stunning!

Luminaire is an Iridescent Multichrome ~ these are the shadows that appear white in the pan, but have an intense shift and a nearly transparent base (unlike the Glitter version they are very finely milled).

This was pretty, but it was actually a little underwhelming for me compared to the swatches online - it just looks a little more like a shimmery pink than the red, orange, gold I was expecting. It was actually better patted on with a brush than patted on with a finger (as seen in the single eye swatch).

Throne is a Vibrant Multichrome ~ these are a very reflective, bright multichrome and they behave a little more like a glitter multichrome that have intense colour shifting reflects and saturated bases.

I absolutely love this bright, glittery yellow shadow - I do think it is really versatile to add a little pop to a look or a bold shadow all over. It was a beautiful shade!

Cathedral is a Pastel Multichrome ~ these are a soft, pastel version of the Jewelled Multichromes - they have a soft, sheer grey base with bright, metallic coloured reflects. They are also glitter-free and are great for those who might not want the full intensity of the Jewelled Multichromes.

These certainly have that more metallic shifting look and was really gorgeous applied - this line seems great for a more toned down look while still having that multichrome shifting effect! But, this shade looked for more goldish online, while on me, it comes off much more grey/purplish on me.

I created a few looks using all the shadows - the only additional shadows I used for this look is a base cream-coloured shadow as well as a light tan shade as a transition shade in the crease. For this look I used Sand Blast in the outer corner, and lightly buffed in the crease, plus I applied Burnt Sienna all over the lid. Then I applied Throne on the inner corner and Rose Line to the lower lash line.

Here is a closer look at the shadows - with this shift, it's a little hard to differentiate between Sand Blast and Burnt Sienna. I love how shimmer these are and they are gorgeous! You can seen the deep green shift on the previous picture!

For the second look, I only used the 4 remaining shadows in the look - the only additional shades I used are a matte cream-coloured shadow and a light grey-lavender transition shade in the crease. I applied Cathedral in the outer corner and lightly in the crease, then I applied Kaleidoscope all over the lid (this is where you can see the blueish shades instead of just pink). Then I applied Glisten in the inner corner and Luminaire to the lower lash line.

This was a much more pink, greyish, blue shimmer look; but, these were gorgeous together and super pretty all together!

I managed to get all the shadows to work; but, did have a harder time making the Iridescent Glitters work for me. While all the shades are pretty, I do think I prefer the deeper shades as they just applied nicer and on the lids and created a better overall look!

Have you tried Clionadh Cosmetics yet?! I was really impressed with these shadows and hopefully later in this year I can try more (also Clionadh was one of the brands I really wanted to try this year, so I'm glad I checked the first one off my list!)
