Shimmery Almay Spring Products - Swatched!

I've been pretty honest on here that I hadn't really tried a lot of  drug store brands prior to blogging - I really stuck in my Sephora bubble. And, blogging has really opened my eyes to drugstore makeup quality and given me the opportunity to try different brands than I normally would!

That being said, I don't think I've ever tried a product from Almay and that made me excited to try this new Spring products out from the brand! Almay's makeup products are designed with sensitive skin in mind - they are hypoallergenic and fragrance free! It's always great to see affordable, accessible makeup products that won't irritate the skin, especially for those that are sensitive!

Almay has been coming out with some fun, shimmery products for Spring and I've got quite a few here swatched! (Unfortunately I'm giving my eyes a little longer to clear up from an infection, so I don't have these products tried on!)

Shimmery Almay Spring Products - Jelly Hi-Lite

Almay Make Them Jelly Hi-Lite ~ $14.99 CAN. Iridescent glitter sheen complements all skin tones. Instantly illuminates and adds moisture to skin.

Jelly products are certainly a trend of 2019, and I'm going to be honest - I kind of like it! Why can't we have a little fun with our makeup?! So far, I've liked the jelly products that I've tried and this is my first time trying a jelly highlighter.

The gold shade is called "24K Dreams" and the pink is "Unicorn Light". These are described as being illuminating, shimmery and buildable. They suggest brushing it on to your cheekbones, collarbone and shoulders or mixing with a moisturizer or body lotion for an all over glow!

I love the jelly texture - they are so fun to dip right in to. I personally prefer applying these with a finger as I think that's the easiest. These do apply as a shimmery highlighter as they've suggested - they are less pigmented with full colour and are more shimmery colour. While I wouldn't like wearing a shimmery highlighter every day, I am actually someone who likes shimmery highlighters! I think they look so pretty on the cheeks and collarbone! I think these are so fun for Spring and Summer!

Shimmery Almay Spring Products - Velvet Foil Cream Eyeshadow

Almay Velvet Foil Cream Shadow ~ $10.49 CAN. High intensity metallic cream eyeshadow. Crease-proof, smudge-proof formula.

I'm also loving all of the versions of liquidy, creamy eyeshadows that are the 2019 thing too - I've had great experiences with the ones I've tried. These are really unique in the squeeze tube and are meant to be a creamy metallic formula.

The product shades I received are "Paradise Found" and "Ruby Glam". These products are described as being pigmented, smudge and crease proof and long wear formula (up to 24 wear!)

I love the formula of these shadows - I applied them here in one swipe and then I smudged the shadows out a little. These are certainly best applied with a finger or brush and applied quickly - they do dry fast! They are very pigmented and from what I can tell on my arm (and other blogger reviews), is that these babies won't move after they are applied!

Shimmery Almay Spring Products - Goddess Gloss Lip Gloss

Almay Goddess Gloss Lip Gloss ~ $10.99 CAN. Gives lips a holographic, iridescent glow. Lips feel moisturized and smooth, never sticky.

These lip glosses are made with pomegranate, grape and raspberry oils and are described as sheer, easy to wear and high shine shades.

The clear shade here is "Halo" and the second shade is "Flame". I've tried a few holographic lip glosses before, and I will say that I like the formula of these ones. The pink shade is pigmented enough that it can be worn on its own and the clear shade needs to be worn over another shade to look nice on me.

These glosses are really smooth and soft on the lips. I thought they applied nicely and weren't sticky; but, a little tacky while on. It has a light, sweet smell as well!

Shimmery Almay Spring Products - Shadow Squad

Almay Shadow Squad Eyeshadow ~ $10.99 CAN. Mix it up in monochrome. Your favourite shades, in each of four finishes: matte, satin, metallic, glitter.

These are cute little monochromatic shadow squads. These are also tested extra to be sensitive eye and contact lens safe. I do like that these are the same shade in different finishes, they are the most practical to me in that I couldn't really use them on their own. But, they might be a nice addition to a palette that is missing a shade for you.

The quad shades I have are "The World is My Oyster", which is a light taupe and "Making A Statement" which is a purple quad. These shadows are soft as described; but, not the most pigmented formula I've tried.

The matte and satin shades were not super pigmented in these quads; but, I did like the shimmer and metallic formulas and thought they were pigmented. I do think the quads are a little small for dipping a brush in a single formula. If you are into a really simple eye look, these may be for you, but I'm not sure I will reach for them often!

Almay Spring Products

Overall, I thought this was a fun little introduction to the brand - I enjoyed most of the products and will have a lot of fun using the velvet foil shadows, jelly highlighters and lip glosses. The only thing that wasn't great for me was the eye shadow quads and it's just not my personal shadow style to have things so one note!

What are your Almay recommendations?
