Project Pan 21 in 2021 Introduction & Makeup Look!

I am still a fairly new project panner, but I just wrapped up my 20 in 2020 Project Pan (one tiny little product short), but I really enjoyed the idea of focusing on some older products in my collection and getting use out of them so they don't get wasted!

I really enjoyed working on the project, so I'm am starting another year long project and I am hoping to use up or hit pan on 21 products in 2021 - I will again be focusing on all makeup products as I am pretty good about working through my skincare products.

I purchased all these products - this post contains affiliate links

Just like last year, I'm starting the project off with the first 10 products and will treat this like a rolling project - once I reach my goal, I will add a new product to the mix! I have a mix of goals between finishing products and hitting pan, so this should be a lot of fun! I also picked a mix of products that I will reach my goals quickly on and some that may take close to the whole project to reach!

I plan on updating the Project every two months (so you will see update 1 in February, update 2 in April, etc.) - it will look a lot similar to 2020, and hopefully I can finish and hit pan on 21 products!

Here are the first 10 products and my goals on them:

Project Pan 20 in 2021 Intro

Too Faced Sweet Peach Eyeshadow Palette ~ $65.00 CAN. An eyeshadow palette with 18 shades in peachy pinks, corals, bronzes, and purples.

This is my oldest palette in my collection right now - it came out in early 2016, so we are pushing 4 years old (you can see my original post back in April 2016 on it here!). The formula is still good and I really liked this palette, and still enjoy it whenever I remember to use it, so I think it's time to get some good use out of it before it's not so good anymore!

My goal for this eyeshadow palette is to hit pan on at least 2 shadows (maybe 3 depending on how I'm doing) and use all the shadows at least a couple of times! (I couldn't weigh this palette as it was too heavy for my little scale).

Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat Blur Face Primer ~ deluxe sample shown (full size is $68.00 CAN). A non-greasy, lightweight makeup primer with light-infused pigments and four nourishing oils that blur imperfections and smooths the look of skin.

This is the oldest primer in my collection right now, so I need to use this up, but I've also been hoping to try this - it seems so luxe with the little shimmery gold bits in it! The only thing I don't love is this paddle applicator - I think the full size has a pump applicator.

My goal is to use this up fully - it is a deluxe sample size, so it's got a good amount of product in it, so it will still take me a little while to use up! The weight of this primer at the start of the project is 22.8 g.

Becca Cosmetics
Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed Highlighter in Champagne Pop ~ $50.00 CAN. An award-winning highlighter with an ultra-creamy formula that melts into skin for a natural, luminous glow.

This is probably the oldest highlighter in my collection - Champagne Pop was huge when it was released in July 2015 and it really is a stunning colour. It made my Monthly Favourites back in that month, so it's an oldie but a goodies. It's described as "soft gold with pinky-peach pearl" and it really is stunning - it's an old favourite and I've made a pretty good dent in it over the years.

My goal with this product is to hit pan on it - this is a big highlighter, so I think this might take me quite a while to do, but it will feel really great to do! The original weight of this product at the start of this project is 62.97 g.

Project Pan 20 in 2021 Intro

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in "Luminous Light" ~ $64.00 CAN. Create the perfect illumination for your face with Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder.

This is another super old product in my collection - it made my Monthly Favourites all the way back in August 2015, so it's time to use it up. I have been using this up, but every time I get a new finishing powder, this one gets pushed to the side - it can be a highlighter or a finishing powder. This is a little dark for me all over right now, but I've made some pretty serious progress on this!

My goal for this product is to use it up - I'm hoping this is an easier goal to finish, but I still do think this will take a few months to finish. The starting weight of this product is 80.60 g.

Project Pan 20 in 2021 Intro

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Paaarty ~ deluxe sample (full size is $38.00 CAN). An award-winning powder blush that contains long-wearing Amazonian clay, so pigment looks freshly applied all day.

This is another old favourite - it was one of my Favourite Makeup Products of 2017. I think this was the Sephora Birthday gift either 2016 or 2017 and Paaarty is described as a "nude". It's a lovely pinky nude that works well for my skintone and it's an easy to use shade for every day!

My goal for this product is to hit pan on this blush - it is a deluxe size, so that should be doable in this year, but I do think that this will take quite a while! The weight for this blush is 19.06 g at the start of the project.

Project Pan 20 in 2021 Intro

Wet n Wild Color Icon Bronzer in Queen's Land ~ $7.29 CAN. Whether you're looking sculpt your cheeckbones with icy, cool undertones or intensify your incandescence with a warm flush of flame, this gel-infused, longwearing formula leaves skin looking luminous with a naturally sun-kissed glow.

This was from the Fire & Ice collection and I picked up the whole collection - this was actually not my favourite of the two bronzers in the collection, but I dropped the other one and it was kinda broken, so I decluttered. It's a good bronzer, I just preferred the other shade more, but I have use this one a lot! I was going to put another bronzer in this, but I hate the Wet n Wild packaging (it ALWAYS breaks) and this one is broken, so I'd like to use it a little and then toss it!

My goal for this bronzer is to hit pan - this could take the whole year to complete, but I have managed to use up almost the whole dragon shape on top, so I'm getting some good use out of this. The weight of this bronzer is 38.92 g at the start of this project.

Project Pan 20 in 2021 Intro

Catrice Slim'Matic Ultra Precise Brow Waterproof Pencil ~ $7.99 CAN. The Catrice Slim'Matic Ultra Precise Brow Pencil with an accurate tip creates precise, hair-like strokes. Dual ended, ultra-slim retractable pencil.

This brow pencil is pretty good - you can see how it looks on me here in my Full Face of Catrice post. It is a pretty creamy pencil formula, but still applied well. I also like that this has a spoolie on the end. This is just the oldest product in my collection right now - I picked this up in January, so it's not super old, but I've really been working my way through brow products over the past year!

My goal on this product is to use it up - this is a pretty easy task to complete, but I need a few little easy goals in here too! The weight of this at the start of the product is 4.19 g.

Project Pan 20 in 2021 Intro

ColourPop Lip Crayon in Z Boys ~ $7.00 US each. When all you need is just a tint. This comfy, hydrating lip tint adds the perfect sheer wash of colour to create healthy, glowy lips.

These lip tint lip crayons were another instant love for me when I picked them up - this made my Favourite Makeup Discoveries of 2019! Z Boys is described as a "sheer peach nude" and the formula is super soft and comfortable on the lips and wear off without smearing everywhere and they leave a pretty tint behind (just a little bit) and reapply really nicely. I have been getting a ton of tinted lip balms lately, so I want to use some of my older ones that I love too!

My goal for this product is to use it up - there is a fair bit of product left in this, so I have a feeling that this will take a while to complete! The starting weight of this is 17.69 g.

Project Pan 20 in 2021 Intro

NYX Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil in Natural Soft Beige ~ $15.99 CAN. Reveal your freshest self with our new Bare With Me Tinted Skin Veil! Simply smooth  this weightless formula onto the complexion for light, breathable coverage with a  seamless and satiny finish.

I love this tinted skin veil - it is the perfect light, medium coverage that wears really nicely. It made my Monthly Favourites in March of this year, so it's certainly a lot newer than most products in this project. (And, spoiler - it's one of my Favourites of the Year too) But, I have quite a few light coverage products that are in line to use and I don't like to have too many foundations open at a time!

My goal for this product is to use it up - I'm about half way there, so as long as I use this whenever I can wear face makeup then I will get this used hopefully quickly! The weight is 23.36 g at the start of the project.

Project Pan 20 in 2021 Intro

Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow in Smoky Storm ~ deluxe sample (full size is $31.00 CAN). A brilliant and long-wearing, liquid glitter eyeshadow.

These are the O.G. glitter eyeshadows - these made my Best of Makeup 2017, so these have been around for awhile. A few of these have dried up on me, so I'd like to use this one before that happens (and it was feeling a little dry as I was using it!) Smoky Storm is described "light pewter & silver" and it's pretty and easy to use!

My goal for this one is to use it up - there isn't a super easy way to tell with this, but I will just use it until I can't get any more product or it dries up! The weight of this at the start of this project is 13.38 g.

Project Pan 20 in 2021 Intro

And, to kick of the Project Pan, I put all the products to work for an initial look! I used the YSL primer, NYX tinted veil, and Hourglass power on the face as a base, then the Wet n Wild bronzer, the Tarte Blush and the Becca Highlighter. I have the Catrice brow pencil on my brows and the eye look was created with the Too Faced palette and the Stila glitter eyeshadow. And, to finish the look, I have the ColourPop lip tint on my lips! I do enjoy all of these products so I'm looking forward to seeing my progress throughout the year!

Are you guys planning any panning this year?

  1. Smoky Storm is actually my FAVOURITE glitter out of the group so I use it a lot, but they dry up so fast so I am also trying to use up some of the other shades I received in PR because they are all so pretty!

I am also trying to use up the NYX Tinted Veil, but I rarely wear blush or foundation anymore so I don't know how this going to go! I figure with the Tinted Veil, I can treat it like a lightweight wash of colour just to even out my skin tone, but most mornings I just do my eyes for work and off I go!

    1. Yes, those Stila shimmers are so pretty and I had another one dry up - this one is pretty dry too, but I will just use it until I can't! I'm not doing a lot of face makeup either, mostly for looks or if I will be outside, but it's just eyes for work and bare faced most of the time. I'm already not sure if I can finish 21 products, but I will try!
