Last year when ColourPop released their original Disney Designer collection, I loved it and the palette and some of the lipsticks were instant favourites! Then, they released the Villains collection, and I really liked the products that I've tried - I still have a couple to review from the line!
And, now they came out with this new Midnight Masquerade collection - it includes a couple new Disney beauties that weren't previously in the first collection (hello, Aurora is there!), plus some other amazing ladies like Esmerelda and Meg! This collection is inspired by dressing what they would be wearing to a masquerade ball! I picked up the eyeshadow palette, and a couple face and lip products - I didn't pick up everything (because I'm being more thoughtful about my purchases this year and I did not need everything!)
ColourPop Disney Designer Midnight Masquerade Shadow Palette ~ $22.00 US. It’s a ball! Our newest collaboration with Disney features a 15 pan shadow palette featuring party ready shades inspired by your favorite Disney princesses! Includes buttery mattes, lux metallics, and sparkling Pressed Glitters!
I know when this palette was released there was a lot of comparison to the original It's a Princess Thing palette, and I think that while the colour family and shades are similar, this palette is much deeper - think of the It's A Princess Thing palette as the day look palette and this Midnight Masquerade palette as the night look palette.
This palette comes with a variety of 8 mattes, 5 shimmers and 2 pressed glitter shadows. As a note, the 3 middle shadows - Floating Lantern, Mrs. Potts, and Royal Ball - are considered not safe for eye use. The pressed glitters are quite big, so you just need to be careful as they could potentially hurt the eyes. (I personally have used the shadows on my eyes and I'm okay with it, but I would never recommend you do it if it's not something you are comfortable with!) I love the shadow colours in here - it's neutral with a slight pink lean and a few pops of colour!
Spinning Wheel ~ opal with a pinky flip
Damsel ~ dusty rose
Pip ~ peachy nude
Enchanted ~ warm coral
Mama Odie ~ soft peach with a green flip with a duo chrome flip
Djali ~ soft copper with a pink flip with a duo chrome flip
Floating Lantern ~ rosey copper with lavender glitter
Mrs. Potts ~ antique yellow gold
Royal Ball ~ white gold with multidimensional glitter
Frog & Wife ~ hunter green
Nutmeg ~ a true terracotta
New Dream ~ warm dusty violet
Gaston ~ a true crimson
Quasimodo ~ muted deep brown
Merryweather ~ deep navy blue
The shadows are really beautiful - the mattes are smooth, apply well and blend really nicely. The shimmers are pigmented and I love what a big pop they bring to any look. The glitters are okay - the ColourPop glitters do adhere without a glitter glue, but these are pretty big chunks so if you wanted a more opaque glitter or a safer use, I would use a little bit of glitter glue!
This is a good palette; but, it's not a great every day palette for me - not that I mind using this for a more night out, evening looks palette and not every palette made needs to be a lighter neutral palette for me to wear every day to work. I just think it's a tad on the darker side and it's great for bolder and deeper looks. I did get a really good variety of look out of this, and have 5 eye looks in this post!
ColourPop Disney Designer Once Upon A Dream Kit ~ $18.00 US. She’s a beauty! Get Aurora’s signature makeup kit including Prince Phillip Lux Liquid Lip and Coronation Highlighter Compact.
Each princess or Disney lady featured in the collection - Aurora, Meg, Tiana, Cinderella, Esmerelda, Belle, Giselle, and Rapunzel - comes with a powder face product (a blush or highlighter) and a lipstick. They either come in these sets together, or they can all be purchased separately.
For, Aurora (since she's my favourite) I picked up the set, so I had the highlighter and the lipstick! Plus, both shades included are gorgeous!
Coronation Pressed Powder Highlighter ~ a champagne pearl highlighter
Prince Phillip Lux Liquid Lip ~ a pink red lipstick
This highlighter is a pressed powder highlighter and I haven't tried much of this formula, but this is a really nice shade for my skin tone. It's got the right amount of sheen and glow without being blinding or glittery.
And, the release of this collection included a new line of lipstick - the Lux Liquid Lipstick. It's supposed to be similar to a liquid lipstick, with a soft, thin velvety formula that leaves a more diffused look.
ColourPop Disney Designer Enchanted Mirror Pressed Powder Blush ~ $10.00 US. Brighten your complexion with the perfect natural flush of colour in a soft and buildable powder blush.
This formula is described as a buildable blush - and I love Belle, so I was so glad that this shade was a good match for me!
I've only tried a few of the ColourPop face products - I think I bought a blush and highlighter duo years ago when they came out. I've also tried the Super Shock cheek products and they didn't really work for me, so I'm happy to say that I really like this formula. It's easy to wear and applies smoothly and lasts all day. Plus, this is a great shade for me!
Enchanted Mirror ~ a warm pink blush
Here is Belle swatches and then smoothed around underneath - it's a really pretty pink shade!
Here is a look with all the Midnight Masquerade products I picked up - the eyeshadow palette is on the eyes, Enchanted Mirror blush and Coronation highlighter on the cheeks and Prince Phillip on the lips!
And, heres a closer look at all of the products on me:
For this eye look, I used Damsel through the crease, New Dream in the outer corner, Spinning Wheel on the lid (and under the brow), with Royal Ball over the lid and Merryweather on the lower lash line.
For this eye look, I used Pip through the crease with Nutmeg and Djali on the outer corner and Frog & Wife on the lid. Then I apply Mama Odie on the inner corner.
For this eye look, I used Enchanted through the crease, then Gaston in the outer corner and buffed through the crease. Then I applied Mrs. Potts to the lid, with a little Djali on the middle lid to blend the pink and gold together.
I went for a really monochromatic look with this eye look! I used Pip through the crease, a little Nutmeg on the outer corner and Djali all over the lid, with a little Spinning Wheel on the inner corner!
For this look, I used Pip and Enchanted through the crease and Quasimodo in the outer corner with a little Nutmeg on the lid, and Mrs. Potts on the inner corner. Then I applied Floating Lantern over the lid.
I'm glad I got to use all the shadows in this palette in these 5 looks - I really enjoyed how they all applied!
And here is a look at the blush - Enchanted Mirror on the cheeks with the highlighter - Coronation on the cheekbones!
And here is a look at the Lux Liquid Lip in Prince Phillip on the lip - I could have cleaned this up, but I like to show how this actually applies. With the doefoot applicator, I found this slightly clung to my lipline and did enhance my dry patches a little. So, of course this would look better with a liner, so I know for next time.
The lipstick is quite bright and it was a very thin formula - it did apply nicely and dry without feeling uncomfortable!
And, here is the whole look with all the products on! Overall, I really enjoyed this collection! I love the Disney collaboration and ColourPop products rarely do me wrong - all the formulas in this collection work well for me and the shades I picked out are complimentary to my skin tone!
Did you guys pick up anything in this collection?!
