I purchased these products myself - this post contains affiliate links
Insert the ColourPop The Scorpio Bundle! I actually checked last week that this was still available and it was, and lo and behold, it's gone at the time of writing! But, there products are still available in other forms, so we're talking about them anyways! And if you didn't guess it - the special time is of course Scorpio season (October 23 to November 21)!
So it's the tail end of Scorpio season and I always have to feature some type of zodiac product (last year it was Bite and Wet n Wild) and I think the zodiac is such a fun inspiration for products, because each sign has an element and colours that are associated with the sign!
ColourPop released a Zodiac collection in collaboration with Kathleen Lights - and I will put it out there that I'm not the biggest Kathleen Lights fan due to some of her comments and I don't watch or follow her any longer (but I did go ahead and purchase a little bit from this collection because I was interested in a couple of products and while I dislike her, she's not quite in the Jeffree Star or Kat Von D realm of people I will not purchase from). So I apologize if you're not a fan! I know ColourPop chose to collaborate with her for this collection because she is very big in to the zodiac.
This collection started with a full 12 pan eyeshadow palette that was pretty, but didn't really call out to me. Then a few months later, they came out with the collection of the loose pigments for each sign, and they released each shadow from the palette as individual pressed shadows. So, this little set was The Scorpio Bundle and was $12.00 for both Scorpio shadows.
ColourPop The Scorpio Pressed Powder Shadow ~ $6.00 US. Share your passion with this rich metallic plum.
Sadly, this whole line of the zodiac pressed powder shadows singles have disappeared and I have no idea why?! The singles must have been limited edition, as this shadow is still available in The Zodiac palette ($20.00 US for the whole palette). This plum shade is really pretty and it's not really something that I have a lot of in my collection!
I thought this packaging was gorgeous and it helped sell me on trying this shadow! I do enjoy the ColourPop pressed powder shadow formula and I think their metallics are nice and smooth in application and are nicely pigmented and have the right amount of metallic sheen to them!
ColourPop The Scorpion Loose Pigment ~ $7.00 US. Add this warm burgundy for a little mystery.
I rarely reach for a loose pigment, but it is a product that I would like to try more of! I have a couple of loose pigments and I guess I tend not to know how to apply them and find them a little trickier to work with, personally. I know some people love them, so it's probably just a matter of me playing with them more!
I do wish that the packaging had a stopper with little holes in the top (like some other pressed pigments that I have), to help control the product a little better - even twisting it gently causes me to get burgundy shadow all over my hands and vanity. But, this is a pretty shade and apparently these apply the best with a wet brush (for the sake of this post, I applied it dry; but, I will certainly give it more tries with a wet brush too).
Here is The Scorpio (pressed shadow) and The Scorpion (pressed pigment) swatched beside each other. I will say, I was surprised by how similar the two shadows were to each other as most other signs had some variations in their shadows (for example, Cancer had a light pink pressed shadow and a light blue pressed pigment) - so it seems like a bit of a missed opportunity to me! Even if the pressed pigment is applied wet, I can't seeing it being too different of a shade overall.
Here are both shadows on the eyes:
Here is The Scorpio pressed powder shadow all over my lid - you can see the metallic formula is nice and this is a really pretty shadow!
And here is The Scorpion loose pigment applied to my lid - you can see that I was slightly messy in my application as I'm still trying to figure out the right brush to use as these can have a little fallout while applying!
Both shadows are pretty, just similar and I know use Scorpios can be a little stubborn and not like change, but we still need a little variety!
Do you guys pick up products for your zodiac sign?!
It's a real bummer that both shades are almost the same because why get both? It's a letdown for people who do purchase it. They are pretty shades though.
ReplyDeleteThey are really pretty, just so silly they are SO similar - the other ones are all so different!
