Beautylish Lucky Bag 2021 Unboxing

Every year on Boxing Day (or December 26 for you non-Canadians), Beautylish releases the pre-order for their Lucky Bags which ships in early January - if you are interested, these sell out quickly on the day of! These boxes are $98.00 CAN + $19.05 shipping to Canada; but, you are guaranteed at least $200.00 CAN worth of makeup and skincare. They are all totally random, so it is a complete surprise what you get, and I love surprises! Some bags are extra lucky and include gift cards, etc.

I picked up the regular lucky bag for fair/medium skin. There was also XL lucky bags, Jeffree Star Lucky Bags, and a Buy One Gift One as other options. I'm a total sucker for these mystery boxes and this is my 3rd year getting one - you can see my past unboxings here! (I was also really happy that Beautylish chose only to include Jeffree Star products in the box, because I gotten products in almost all of my past boxes and it's not a brand I support!)

Here is a look at my 2021 Beautylish Lucky Bag:

I purchased this box myself - this post contains affiliate links

The Lucky Bags are described as "Lucky Bags are a Japanese New Year custom that inspired up to create our own. The Japanese Character on this year's Lucky Bag, which means "dawn" or "daybreak", symbolizes new beginnings after a challenging year. We hope the surprises inside help you welcome 2021 with hope and light".

I received six products in my Lucky Bag from Charlotte Tilbury, VDL, Sonia G, Stila, Good Molecules and Susan Kaufmann. Here is a look at everything that came in my 2021 Lucky Bag:

Beautylish Lucky Bag 2021 Unboxing

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Palette in Copper Charge ~ $72.00 CAN. Serene, gentle and soothing, blue has associations with the calming light of the sky and sea. The blue-eyed bombshell has eyes lit with serenity, logic and loyalty. Opposite on the colour wheel, Copper Charge makes blue eyes look bluer. Easy to morph, easy to magnify, easy to make your eye colour magic!

This is really pretty - I've heard hit and miss things about the Charlotte Tilbury eyeshadow formula. I like the brand and their lipstick and skin products are good, but I think the eyeshadow is meant to be less pigmented and more natural. This is a nice, luxury product that is meant for blue eyes, which is great, but 3 of the 4 shadows, so it's not ideal for a full look, but I will give it a shot and see if I like the formula!

Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eye Shadow Duo Chrome in Enchantress ~ $35.00 CAN. Add multidimensional shimmer to eyes with duochrome shades of Stila’s best-selling liquid eye shadow.

Enchantress is described as "peach with bright gold pearl" and it's beautiful - I wasn't super thrilled about this (just because I have a ton of liquid eyeshadows, but I do love this formula), until I realized that it was a duochrome, so it's a formula I haven't tried and the shade is lovely!

VDL Expert Color Real Fit Velvet Mini Lipstick Kit ~ $61.00 CAN.
Add a sumptuous, seamless pop of color to any look with the Real Fit Velvet Lip Kit from VDL. Formulated with a combination of velvet and matte powders, this four-shade collection of travel-friendly mini lipsticks offers an ultra-smooth matte finish that lasts all day.

These are minis, and I like little lipstick minis, but I wouldn't pay $60 for them, I typically keep it around the $30 mark for a set like this. This is a new formula to me, so I'm excited to give them a try and I do like minis because I'm never going to use up a full size lipstick at this point!

This set contains 4 minis and the colors are:
Claret ~ muted rosy pink with a velvet-matte finish
Modern Coral ~ bright coral with a velvet-matte finish
Barbados ~ deep crimson with a velvet-matte finish
Make Me Rosy ~ soft dusty rose with a velvet-matte finish

These are pretty, I wish there was something a little more nude, but these are fun and pretty. I like the idea of a velvet matte formula, so I will have to see how it wears!

Susanne Kaufmann Hyaluron Serum ~ $229.00 CAN. The highly concentrated, purely plant-based hyaluron serum supports the skin cells in retaining moisture.

Whoa, this serum is $229 - I'm not sure I would ever spend that on a serum, so this thing better be a miracle worker! This is meant to be good at moisturizing and great for lifting and smoothing. This is pretty fancy so of course, I will use this one up!

Good Molecules Pineapple Exfoliating Powder
~ $22.00 CAN. Gently exfoliate away dead skin and dullness with this fruit enzyme-powered powder.

This exfoliating powder uses both chemical and physical exfoliating properties - you mix this with water to creamy a paste that resurfaces, smooths and brightens the skin without being irritating. I'm actually really excited about this - I have been interested in the Good Molecules skincare line and this is a new product they released this year!

Sonia G. Worker Pro Brush ~ $41.00 CAN. Meet the eye shadow brush that does it all. Designed to do the work of five brushes in one, the versatile Worker Pro from Sonia G. flexes and conforms to your eye shape as you work for seamless application of creams and powders.

This is a goat bristle brush that is meant for a variety of application techniques: packing on color, defining the crease, blending and diffusing edges, smoking out the lashline, and highlighting the brow bone. These are nice quality brushes and it's a great size, so I'm happy to use this!

So, I spent around $120 Canadian on this Lucky Bag, and I received $460 worth of products - it's a pretty impressive value for what I paid, and not a value I was expecting based on the products. I guess overall, the products just didn't thrill me, but I guess that's what happens with a mystery box. I certainly saw some boxes that were amazing, but I will  use everything I received, so it's not bad!

Did you get a Lucky Bag this year? What did you get?

  1. Wow, that's quite the value you got! And wowza on the price for that Hyaluron Serum. Like you said, it better be a miracle worker, lol! Also agree that $60 for those mini lipsticks is a lot.
Overall this looks like a good selection of products; a little bit of everything.
