ColourPop Take Me Home Pressed Powder Shadow Palette - Review, Swatches and Makeup Look!

I have made no secret of the fact that I love mini palettes! If it comes in mini size, chances are that I will pick it up! There is just something so convenient about the little sizes - the shades all go together, making eye looks really easy. They are perfect when you don't have a lot of time to think about what shadows you should use, they travel well and are really handy!

I picked up ColourPop single shadows when they were released; but, I haven't yet picked up any of the full sized shadow palettes yet so I was excited to see the mini palette on the Sephora website when ColourPop came to Sephora. I scooped it up immediately!

So, it's not currently available on the Sephora website; but, ColourPop is kind of notorious for restocking products and having them in and out of stock. It is currently available on the ColourPop website and they have decent shipping to Canada (usually you spend $50 and get free shipping; but, you can encounter customs fees sometimes!)

ColourPop Take Me Home Pressed Powder Shadow Palette - Review, Swatches and Makeup Look!

ColourPop Take Me Home Pressed Powder Shadow Palette ~ $12.00 US/$15.00 CAN. Your right hand, your go-to. This mini 6 pan palette has you covered for your everyday necessities. Includes the perfect, best-selling warm-toned shades, a mix of matte and metallic finishes, and a mirror, this baby is a keeper. Keep one in your purse for touch ups or keep it displayed on your vanity, it’ll be a staple in your collection.

I happen to have a lot of mini palettes; but, if you can believe it, I don't actually have a light, neutral palette - this ones leans slightly warm, but it's exactly what my collection is missing!

I have had really liked the ColourPop single shadows that I have tried before (you can check out my thoughts here). The formulas were great and the applied and blended really well on the eyes. So, I am hopeful that this mini palette of pressed powders will perform the same way!

Issues ~ matte pastel peach
Side Tracked ~ matte terracotta with gold flecks
French Kiss ~ matte medium chocolate brown
Salt Water ~ metallic golden peach
Popular Demand matte red brown
Bitter Better metallic soft gold

I like the size of this palette - it's easy to hold in the hand and I love that it has a good size mirror in it as well! Makes it perfect for taking with you anywhere.

Overall, I was happy with how this palette swatched - I thought that all the shadows were fairly soft and pigmented. I wouldn't go so far to call them the softest or most buttery shadows I have used; but, I do think they preform well.

I did find that on application with brushes they were fairly powdery - especially the matte shadows. Now, this isn't a deal breaker for me at all - because, the shadows still applied really nicely on the eyes and blended out well. So, I can put up with a slightly powdery formula when the shadows look really nice (all you need to do is lightly tap the brush gently to get the excess off before applying the shadows!)

I was really happy with this eye look and I used every shadow in the palette! ! I used Issues as a whole base all over the lid and under the brows, Side Tracked in the crease and Salt Water in the high crease to really brighten up the crease (and under the eye as well). Then I used French Kiss to deepen the crease, and Popular Demand on the outer corner and Bitter Better all over the lid.

I honestly think that this is such an easy palette to use and throw together some great looks. I think I went with a medium toned look; but, with the shades in the palette you can easily lighten or darken up this look!

The other products I used to complete the look are:
-primer: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer
-foundation: Estee Lauder Double Wear foundation in Fresco
-powder: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Luminous Light
-blush: Too Faced Papa Don't Peach Blush
-highlighter: Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey
-brows: MAC Cosmetics Eye Brows in Spiked
-mascara: Benefit Rollerlash
-lips: Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Liquified Lip in Whip
-setting spray: Mac Fix+

Overall, I'm really happy with this palette! This is the perfect every day on the go palette! I took this with me to California and used it every day! If you are looking for major inspiration, this mini neutral palette won't really give you a huge variety, but for me, when I go back to work I could pick this up and come up with a very quick every day look!

What do you think? Is this a palette that you would reach for?

  10. The colors look a lot prettier swatched than in the pan! I thought it looked a bit boring but Salt Water would be beautiful all over the lid! I don't own any Colourpop yet which is kind of crazy!
