Skincare Sunday - APTO Healing Turmeric Mask

Happy Sunday everyone! I have raved about turmeric in masks before - it is a strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory making it great for targeting acne and blemishes. It is also great for targeting discolouration and brightening the skin!

APTO is a new brand to me - I just received this in my last Ipsy bag, and love discovering new brands! There isn't much online about the brand; but, their products are vegan, cruelty free and plant based.

Apto Healing Turmeric Mask ~ $16.00 US (deluxe sample shown here). Detoxify and clear pores with this effective yet lightweight mask. Suitable for any skin type to treat blemishes, breakouts and rosacea flare ups.

This products uses turmeric and neem (a type of tree) as natural ingredients to target bacteria and get to the root of blemishes to reduce flare ups. It also uses azelaic acid to prevent future breakouts while gently removing dead skin cells and colloidal sulfur to target blackheads and absorb oil.

This mask is pretty straightforward to use - wash face, dry skin, apply a thin layer to either the full face or spot apply to problematic areas, wear for 10-15 minutes, and remove with a moist cotton pad or wipe.

There is a note on the website that explains that "slight redness or tingling due to increased circulation is possible and normal." So be warned using this mask and don't be worried!

I used the mask in both ways - as a full face mask and as a spot treatment mask!

As a full face mask, this was good. I found this mask a little warming and tingly on the skin -  wasn't worried about it and it wasn't uncomfortable at all. It dried down slightly; but, didn't get tight or uncomfortable at all. It rinsed off well.

My face was red after using this and it probably lasted for an hour - so, I would say this mask is probably better to use at nighttime or not before you have to get ready! My skin felt fine after - this isn't really a hydrating mask, so my skin felt about the same in terms of moisture and hydration levels. The next morning, my skin looked better. It looked a little smoother and more even, with less red or uneven spots.

And, I used this as a spot treatment mask too - I wanted to target active blemishes or spots and redness from past blemishes. Again, this was fine and comfortable to wear. The next morning, the spots were certainly more healed. The redness was reduced and the blemishes had reduced in size.

I was happy with this mask - I continue to love the benefits of turmeric on my skin! If you are looking for something healing and brightening; but, is gentle on the skin, I would recommend a mask with turmeric in it!
