This subscription focuses heavily on make-up items - so that is something to keep in mind! While it is a little pricier than the more inexpensive beauty boxes, the majority of the products are full size, with a deluxe product every once in a while.
I have mentioned before that Boxycharm used to send out identical boxes to everyone (or perhaps a lipstick variation here or there); but, they are starting to expand and are now introducing bigger variations to their boxes - for example, this month you will receive a mascara, lashes or a primer. Boxycharm is also adding a LuxeBox add-on every 3 month for more products.
The theme of this month's box is "Live It Up". Here is a closer look at the products I received:
Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks ~ 3 pairs for $15.00 CAN (6 pairs for $30.00 CAN). A set of individually-packaged gold foil eye masks to brighten, hydrate, and reduce the appearance of dark circles.
This is a newer brand to me - we just received the Wander Beauty mascara in last month's box. It's a newer brand to Sephora as well! I like eye masks, so I'm happy to see these!
Adesse New York - Sweet Almond Cuticle Oil ~ $18.00 US. Vitamin E, shea oil, sweet almond, and jojoba oils are blended together to create a luxurious treatment that softens the cuticles and moisturizes the nails.
This was a variable product - you could either receive this or another cuticle oil from NCLA. I'm good with either. This one smells delicious and it worked fine.
House of Lashes in Hearbreaker ~ $9.00 US approx (this style is no longer available).
We usually receive really new products in Boxycharm, so it's a little weird to receive a product that's not available any longer. Anyways, these are really big lashes and they didn't work with my lashes. I actually have quite curly eyelashes and my natural lashes were too curly for these - they are really full and not very curly so they just didn't rest well on my lashes. I will keep trying to make these works; but, I don't think they will work for me.
Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick Matte in "Warrior Pose" ~ $25.00 CAN. A pigment-loaded lipstick in matte and cream finishes that glide on brilliant color in just one swipe.
I have heard amazing reviews about this lipstick; but, this is a really dark brown lipstick and it is just not a colour I will wear at all. The variations for this product were all different types of Smashbox lipsticks. I really wish I received something more wearable for me!
Bang Beauty Chocolate Gel Eyeliner ~ $22.00 US. Highly Pigmented, long wearing liner that glides on easily because of the gel based formula. Get up to 10 hours of waterproof, swear proof, and humidity proof wear.
This is basically the same colour as the lipstick - everyone received this product in their box. I read a lot of reviews that this was really dry; but, mine wasn't. Mine was actually really squishy. I'm not sure the texture is great for an eyeliner and it's too soft I think. Alternatively, you can use this as an eyeshadow base or an eyebrow gel.
The lipstick is swatched on the top and the eyeliner is swatched on the bottom.
Laura Lee Los Angeles Party Animal Pressed Pigment Palette ~ $19.00 US. These bold and versatile shades are formulated in a creamy easy blendable formula and designed in a travel friendly sized palette.
This is a brand new sold out palette and I really like getting these products in Boxycharm. I will say I'm not a Laura Lee follower - I have watched a few videos and I just didn't subscribe or watch anymore. Now, I tried this palette and as I was googling the brand to write this post, I saw all this recent drama and apparently Laura is under fire for some racist posts. I don't like supporting brands like this; but, I have already tried this palette and liked it; but, I won't be supporting this brand any further.
I was happy to see a bright palette in Boxycharm! We usually see neutral palettes, so it's great to see something bold in the subscription!
Issa Party ~ matte bright yellow
Damage Control ~ matte bright turquoise blue
Karaoke ~ matte cobalt blue
Dranks ~ matte bright orange
Bottoms Up ~ matte hot pink with sparkle
Hungover ~ iridescent deep violet
The mattes in this palette are a little on the chalky side; but, the shimmer shadow was super soft. The shadows did blend well.
Here is a look at the eye look with the Party Animal palette - I only used the orange Dranks and the purple Hungover. They blended really nicely together and made a really nice look! I love the combination of orange and purple!
Here is a look at the full face - unfortunately, I didn't use anything else from this month's Boxycharm as it just didn't work for me!
Boxycharm came with 6 products (actually 8 with each masks) and a total value of $108.00. There was a good variety of products in this box; but, this box didn't really work for me. I like the eye masks and the palette, and the lashes and cuticle oil are good, but the lipstick and liner didn't work well for me.
This will be my last Boxycharm for a while (I never say forever because I love my subscriptions); but, I thought the quality of the last few boxes has gone down. I'm not a fan of the expanded variations and didn't like any of the spoilers for September or the BoxyLuxe box.
What did you guys think about this month's box?
Eye massssksss! Those looks super pretty! It's always a bonus when skincare looks kind of sexy too lol!
ReplyDeleteI agree - this gold is super nice for a mask!
