I actually did really similar Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles nail art back in 2012, well before I was blogging; but, I still did my nails every week before blogging about them - Manicure Monday has been going on here forever! These have certainly been my most commented and loved nail art in the past and some friends and family still talk about how much they liked those nails!
So, this week when the #CBBxManiMonday group picked up "Inspired By Childhood", I jumped at the chance to recreate my Ninja Turtle nails! I'm so excited to get a chance to do these again and share them! I really loved the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon television show as a little kid (so much so that when the first movie came out, I cried in the theatre because I didn't think the Ninja Turtles in the movie were "real" and they were only people dressed up as the Ninja Turtles!) Yes, I still remember this rather vividly! Also, I used to have a huge Raphael stuffie and I would take his mask and wear it around the house!
The products I used for this week's Mani are:
-Ciate polish in "talent scout", or similar purple for Donatello
-Kiss orange nail art polish, or similar orange for Michelangelo
-BMC red nail art polish, or similar red for Raphael
-Charlotte Russe blue nail art polish, or similar blue for Leonardo
-Color Club green polish
-Formula X nail cleanser, base coat, and top coat
-Wet n Wild black creme polish
-Sally Hansen White On nail polish
-nail art brushes and dotting tool
I kept my Ninja Turtle nail art really simple - you can look up other ways to make them look more elaborate; but, I kinda like the simple, easy look!
Here's the steps I followed to completed the Ninja turtles:
1. Nail cleanser and base coat
2. 2 coats of green base polish
3. Using a nail art brush and red polish, create 2 straight lines near the top of the nail and fill in for the mask.
4. Repeat on other nails using orange, blue and purple
5. Using a dotting tool and white polish create 2 big white circles for eyes
6. Then, using a smaller dotting tool and black polish, dot in the center for pupils
7. Then, with the black polish and a nail art brush, create a little mouth with a couple of dashes. They look really cute with a full mouth smile as well.
8. Let dry well and finish with top coat
