Reflections of 2022 ~ Yearly Recap

Happy 2023 Everyone! 2022 was another year to remember - it's been full of highlights and a few ups and downs; but, we always make the best of it. I finally got my trip to Italy in that was postponed and all restrictions were lifted, so it was nice to see things get back to normal!

I'm a super nostalgic person and I love looking back a moments in time and remembering how it was and picturing myself back there (this is why I'm a big scrapbooker too!), and despite dealing with a pandemic, there was some really amazing moments from this year!

Damian Turned 17

There was still restrictions going on during Damian's birthday, so we kept it pretty quiet! But, he did turn 17 and I made him a delicious cake! It was a peanut butter chocolate cake and it was a quiet night, but he's one year away from being an adult here!

We Got Covid

Right after Damian's birthday, we all started feeling sick after being exposed to Covid at a family party - Elliott and I ended up getting sick, but we were okay and got through it! Almost 2 years in to the pandemic and we did finally get it. The vaccines helped and were were only sick for a couple of days.

Restrictions Were Lifted And We Got More Time With Friends In

By February restrictions were starting to be lifted and I was really missing group friend time - we had brunch and I finally had a Girls Night Out again. This felt really refreshing and was the start of things feeling like they were going back to normal!

Hosted A Wine Night

We have been missing the wine nights that have been cancelled due to covid, so we decided to host one at our house instead! We spruced up the wine room, had our family over and had a bunch of snacks and wine! It was a really great night!

Opened The Cabin For Easter

We were ready for a long weekend away and Easter was the perfect time to go open the cabin - we enjoyed an egg hunt and a long weekend with the family on the river! It's been a bit of a tradition now to enjoy this weekend out in Fairmont!

Elliott Turned 5

And, while Damian's birthday had to be quiet, we were allowed a few more people over so we able to celebrate with some friends and family - we had a Plants vs. Zombies theme and it was a lot of fun!

We Travelled To Italy

Finally, two years later we made it to Italy and it was absolutely amazing! We went to Rome, Fossacesia, Alberobello, Positano and Naples. My sister, Mom and and I enjoyed two weeks visiting sites, seeing family and enjoying some relaxing time. I can't even put in to words how amazing it was there! Trip of a lifetime!

A Family Filled Summer

This Summer was a great and difficult for me - I saw lots of family that we haven't seen in years (my sister and brother in law and my niece and nephew haven't been to Canada for 2.5 years because of the pandemic and it was amazing to have a few weeks with them!) Also, we all had a week with my family in Penticton. Shortly after, I lost my Grandpa and it was a hard loss to the family, but we were just able to see him a few weeks before. It was still wonderful to see and spend time with the whole family this Summer.

We Saw A Raptors Game

The Raptors played a pre-season game in Edmonton so we made a family trip there to see them and it was fantastic! We stayed in a really cool room in the Fantasyland Hotel, went to the waterpark, saw our family up there and then watched the game. The game was so good - we won and we all had a blast! I've never seen a NBA game before and it was amazing!

We Had A Halloween Party Again

Again, with the pandemic this was something we hadn't been able to do for a while - we were able to finally host one again this year and we had a blast! We love family costumes and dressing up, so it was great. Lots of friends and family came and it was great!

I Turned 36

I turned 36 at the end of the year - I'm trying to reflect on all the positives and embrace getting older (and I know, it's not that old). The rest of the year was nice and quiet - we enjoyed family time, friend time and just enjoyed the rest of the year!

I hope you all enjoyed 2022, and I'm looking forward to 2023!

  1. Your 36th Birthday Cake was the cutest! I loved it! I kind of group 35-39 as feeling somewhat the same and I am kind of in awe that my 40th is this year. I still haven't decided if I want to do something super special or keep it chill, but we are going to Paris in the spring so mayyybe I can pick up something special there?!
