I'm always so excited to try a local brand and share my thoughts - Adrienne Furrie is a Calgary makeup artist who also created a makeup line from her years of professional makeup artistry in studio, on sets, and working with everyday modern women!
I purchased these products on my own
I discovered Adrienne Furrie through a friend - she also runs a subscription box, Lovely and Local and includes the AF makeup products, plus local Calgary products in the box as well. So, as soon as I heard there was a local Calgary makeup brand, I knew I had to try out a few of their products!
As per the brand, all the AF products "are of superior quality, insanely simple to use, classic, sophisticated and chic - just like the new you." Also spoiler alert, I've had these for quite a while, so one of these have already made an appearance in my Monthly Favourites!
Adrienne Furrie Cream Blusher in Color Jam ~ $31.00 CAN. The AF makeup artist secret for a natural, subtle flush of healthy colour on your cheek or a subtly sculpted cheek bone is cream blush. Don’t be intimidated, these blushes are simple to apply with your Foundation Brush (or your fingers!) and unlike powder blush they melt right into your skin.
The shade Color Jam is described as a Reddish Plum and it's super unique - I wanted to try something different and this give a beautiful flush to the cheeks. This line also includes a bright pink, coral, and a peachy nude. All the blushes are paraben free, allergy tested, non-comedogenic, fragrance free, and not tested on animals.
It's a nice creamy texture and it applies really nicely - I prefer to apply these with a duo fibre brush same as any cream product, but also just patting it in with the fingers gives a nice finish on the cheeks!
Here is a look at Color Jam swatched on the arm - the top is it swiped on the arm and then underneath it's blended in! Again, the shade is super pretty and unlike anything I have in my collection.
Here is a look at Adrienne Furrie Cream Blush in Color Jam on the cheeks - I love how the shade blends out and gives this beautiful flush to the cheeks!
This is the product that has made my Monthly Favourites in February, so it's lovely!
Adrienne Furrie Colour Correcting Liquid Concealer in Peach ~ $29.50 CAN. Liquid colour correcting concealers are best used as an add-on to your favourite foundation or concealer.
The Peach Colour Corrector is great for the under eyes to cover up dark, bluish undereye area, bruising, or dark sun spots. The best way to use it is to layer your peach colour corrector down first just on the darker areas, then apply a thin layer of your foundation or regular concealer over top. Keep your layers thin to avoid it looking too heavy.
I've used colour correctors before - this is certainly the darkest of them, so it is important to use a small amount when using these. This does work to cover up those dark circles!
Here is a look at the peach colour corrector swatched - the top is of course swiped and then below it is smudged in. So this is a deep peach, but it's great because it will work on a variety of skin tones!
And, here is a look at the Adrienne Furrie Peach Color Correcting Concealer on - the first one is just applied (I probably could have applied a little less), then it's blended under the eye, and the third picture is with my concealer over top. I think it covers up my under eye circle and then it blends really nicely under my regular concealer.
I do really like this, but it's not something I reach for every day - I will use these on big makeup nights!
Adrienne Furrie Liquid Shimmer Sparkles Eyeshadow in Tuxedo ~ $31.00 CAN. Say goodbye to eye shadow that creases or feels like it disappears halfway through the day. This creamy liquid eyeshadow is a game changer.
The shade Tuxedo is described as charcoal black with silver glitter - I love a liquid eyeshadow, so I knew I had to try this! This shade is described as " a chunkier sparkle texture suspended in a gel, ideal for a fun pop of high sparkle shimmer on their own or layered over top of eyeshadows."
This is a glittery formula, so the charcoal shade is on the sheer side - this does wear well, and lasts the whole day/night on the eyes. I prefer it over a shadow just to add the opaqueness!
Here is a look at Tuxedo swatched - the top swatch is just swiped on the arm and then underneath is it blended in.
Here is a look at the Adrienne Furrie liquid shadow in Tuxedo applied on the eye - I do have this applied over a grey eyeshadow. I love the glitter and this applies nicely and wears well on the eyes.
Overall I like this - I think it's versatile and buildable and is a good formula!
Here is a the final look using the Adrienne Furrie cream blush, peach color correcting concealer and liquid shadow. I really enjoy the look overall - love the blush shade so much, my under eyes look nice and bright and the shimmer shadow is gorgeous!
Here is another look at all the products on! So happy to find a local, made in Canada brand and I'm excited to try more from the brand (they do have a full range of products if you are interested in trying them out!)
What's your favourite local brand?
Great read. By reading the review on adrienne furrie cosmetics I think that it's worth to try out it's products.
