Best of 2019 - Skincare Discoveries!

Happy Skincare Sunday! If you've been watching my Yearly Favourites, you know I haven't done my skincare favourites yet, so it's time now! Staying on the same track as these yearly favourites, these will be my best discoveries of the year, so not all of them were released this year, it's just the best of what I've tried!

For me, 2019 was really about my skin coming in to it's own - which sounds silly, but 2018 it was all over the place and changed to much more combo/oily. So, while last year was about me trying to get in under control, 2019 was all about trying to find products that worked for me!

I did have stand-out products in all categories - in fact, only in a couple categories (especially serums and exfoliants!) While, I started with chemical exfoliants last year, 2019 was the year I really felt comfortable with them in my routine fully! Also, I don't have any masks to share, as I already posted my Favourite Masks earlier this week!

Best of 2019 - Skincare Discoveries!

Glow Recipe Pineapple-C Brightening Serum ~ $68.00 CAN. A potent, lightweight Vitamin C and AHA serum concentrated with smoothing pineapple juice and hyaluronic acid to brighten and even tone.

Glow Recipe is hands down one of my favourite brands - I love what they have been releasing! And, this serum was released this year and it is fantastic! It uses pineapple juice, vitamin c, and chamomile to brighten and even skintone and it truly delivers on these claims! My skin has looked really great since I've started using this! This smells lightly like pineapple juice and it's so effective! It absorbs quickly and just works so well for my skin!

Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop ~ $23.00 US. The Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop is a serum to rejuvenate the skin. It contains concentrated pure vitamin C and key ingredients directly from nature. Its innovative multi-solution and non-irritating formula is to revitalize, maintain, and transform the skin.

I was initially really hesitant to use a vitamin c serum as I have used one other in the past and it made me break out! But, this one is really gentle, yet effective on the skin. This really helped with my hormonal breakouts and it's really helped them disappear before surfacing or surfacing but going away quickly. I thought this was really solid and brightened and refreshed my skin and approved the overall appearance. You can see my review on this serum here

Graydon Skincare Fullmoon Serum ~ $87.00 CAN from Graydon or $86.99 CAN from Well. Loaded with all your favourite actives that help visibly reduce signs of aging, Fullmoon Serum is what skin dreams are made of.

This serum is formulated with a ton of good ingredients - blue tansy, hyaluronic acid, vitamin c and more to improve your skin. This is lovely and has a very soothing scent, so it's really nice to use at night time. This worked really well to calm and sooth my skin while smoothing and refreshing! I really liked this one too!

Best of 2019 - Skincare Discoveries!

Paula's Choice 2% BHA Exfoliant ~ $29.50 US. Our #1 product worldwide + cult favorite, this gentle leave-on exfoliant quickly unclogs pores, smooths wrinkles, and brightens and evens out skin tone.

This product is basically amazing!
I always get some hormonal acne on my chin; but, earlier this year, it was really deep and painful and this was the only thing that really worked to clear it out! I keep this up every couple of days in the my nighttime routine (I alternate this on other evenings than my vitamin c serum). I'm so impressed with this and love that it is a super gentle formula with a lower amount of BHA, so it's easy to keep up with using a couple of times a week without being drying or harsh on the skin. If you want to see my full thoughts on a few goodies from Paula's Choice, you can see my review here

Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial ~ $80.00 US. Babyfacial is a pro-quality AHA/BHA “facial” that resurfaces to reveal greater clarity, improved skin texture and tone, and a more youthful radiance. Think of it as an extra nudge for stubborn, dull skin (in other words, it’ll knock your cells off).

This is a product that I pulled out the "game-changer" word for because it is that fantastic!!! This is actually too strong of an AHA to be sold in Canada, so you have to pick it up in the States; but, I use this as a weekly resurfacing mask - it's light and gentle and tingles a little for the first few minutes, then boom wear for 20 minutes and skin looks fantastic - it just looks bright and smooth and refreshed! My skin overall has not looked this good in a while!

Best of 2019 - Skincare Discoveries!

Glow Recipe Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturizer ~ $28.00 CAN for mini (pictured), or $50.00 CAN full size. A lightweight moisturizer, ideal for oily to combination skin, that is formulated with vitamin-rich watermelon extract, hydrating hyaluronic acid, and soothing botanicals to boost radiance and glow—which also layers perfectly as a soothing serum for dry skin.

I started using this at the end of 2018 and it was pretty new in my collection when I reviewed this in January. I think this is perfect for combo and oily skin
 - it is a light weight gel texture moisturizer that smells lightly of artificial watermelon! It's smoothing and absorbs well in to the skin quickly - it has easily become my everyday moisturizer, and I think it in the Summer on my combo skin that this will still be the perfect moisturizer. (I would think it would not be enough for dry skin; but, I love that you can use it as a serum on dry skin instead).

Biotherm Blue Therapy Red Algae Lift Up Cream ~ $89.00 CAN. Firming velvety rosy cream to HEAL VISIBLE SIGNS OF TIME Uplifting power with the precious Red Algae. With age, fundamental collagen and elastin fibers decline significantly. Biotherm biologists captured the healing power of nature with Red Algae, in Blue Therapy Red Algae Uplift. It visibly helps reinforce the skin’s youthful structure: contours appear re-defined, skin feels firm, smooth and looks radiant.

I don't think I've used a moisturizer this quickly in years - I used it non-stop day and night since I received it it and I typically don't use the same moisturizer for day and night; but, this is one is just so good for both. It's got this illuminating sheen to it and it's comfortable to wear all day and isn't heavy on the skin, plus it's hydrating enough as a night lotion too (and this was used during the coldest spell of Winter). My skin loves rose based products and has just looked healthy and smooth with this!

So, even though I only have products from a few categories, they are all real stand-outs!
