Five on Friday - April 14, 2017

Happy Friday everyone! Well - I have officially been off work for 4 weeks pre-baby and I have to say this week really feels like I got in to a routine. My first few weeks were a little relaxed and I just sort of procrastinated everything. This week, I made a task to get done every day and met all of them so it feels pretty good! I'm certainly not overdoing it though and enjoying my time to relax, read and watch netflix!

Also, happy Easter weekend - hopefully the bunny comes along and gives you a lovely egg hunt. I have eaten my fair share of mini eggs already, but hopefully more come on Sunday!

ONE

I always have to start with my pretty mail! I just received my April Scratch Monthly Mani Kit, which is a nice, affordable subscription that includes 1 set of nail wraps from GoScrachIt that are exclusive to the kit and designed by NinaNailedIt.
The Scratch Monthly Mani Kit is $10.00 US + $4.95 for international shipping! Each month you get an exclusive set of wraps that aren't available for purchase and a few extra little mani goodies!

This month's subscription came with:

  • Flamingo and Pineapple Nail Wraps
  • cleanup brush
  • pineapple nail charms
This isn't a subscription I will get every month - I just subscribe when I like the wraps that are in it! And seriously, my nail wrap collection is getting slightly out of hand!

I have to say, these wraps are hands down my favorite - I have tried quite a few wraps and nothing compares! You can see past reviews and nail looks on Scratch wraps here if you are interested!

TWO

I can't resist cute things!!! Eeeek!!! Look at these Panda macarons! This past weekend, Filigree Pastries had a little pop-up shop in a cute tea shop in Kensington, The Naked Leaf. The macarons were made with tea from The Naked Leaf - Lychee, Lotus & Jasmine! They were delicious and I actually can't believe how cute these are! While I was there, I obviously had to try out some tea as well! My options are still limited being pregnant, but I was so excited to see an Earl Grey Rooibos and it is delicious! I will come back to try new flavours when I can have more!

I love going finding cute shops like this - I live in the suburbs of Calgary and sometimes I forget to go explore these cute little areas of the city! My son really enjoyed the day out too and it was fun to find a little lunch spot and enjoy the day together out and about exploring our city! I'm am just as excited to have a year off to enjoy my time with Damian as I am the baby - my plan is to make sure we try and do as many new things together as we can!

THREE

Yesterday marked the start of Week 37 in my pregnancy! That means little Elliott is full term and can come at any time! (Which is good now, because I am feeling fully ready!) Of course, I'm nervous to have a baby around again - it's been 12 years since I have had to deal with that phase!

We went for an ultrasound last week (just to make sure everything is okay because I have had so many issues with my blood pressure/blood work/etc.) and we were told we have a nice, fat baby in the 80th percentile, so he can come a little early too and that would be fine by me! Plus, I'm pretty done feeling pregnant - the end and feeling like a monster is not fun!

FOUR

Okay, we went a little crazy this week - but we spent 5 hours on Wednesday meal prepping! I have meal prepped before, but not to this extreme! We really wanted to have lots of stuff ready for when the baby arrives, so when we are tired and busy, we still have lots of healthy meals and snacks to have!

First, we made 24 bacon, egg and cheese english muffin breakfast sandwiches. Love making these, pop them in the microwave in the morning for a minute or two and you are good to go!

Then, came the snacks - Banana Zucchini Muffins, No Bake Energy Bites, and Mixed Nuts and Trail Mix (we pick everything up in bulk and mix it ourselves).

Then came the dinners! We did 3 casseroles - 2 turkey and sweet potato Shepard's Pie and a ham, potato and broccoli casserole.

We made 7 frozen crockpot meals (which I have never done, but am pretty excited about trying these!) - cranberry chicken, maple chicken and sweet potatoes, ginger peach chicken, teriyaki chicken, beef roast and veggies, garlic mint pork loin, and apricot glazed pork tenderloin. We followed recipes for the most part, but filled up the bags with all the veggies we could as well!

All these recipes + waaay more good stuff can be found on my Pinterest page - find me here

FIVE

I can finally say we are fully ready - it took a little longer than I thought, but both boys rooms are done and totally organized! Damian moved down to the basement and got a nice big Starwars room with a walk-in closet and his own bathroom down there. And, Elliott's room is a cute little Animals of the World theme and is all set up and ready for him!

I hope you all enjoy your Easter weekend!
