Five on Friday - October 6, 2023 ~ Not-So-Spooky Reads, October Most Anticipated Reads, September Month of Vegetarian and Pescatarian Food, Trip To Drumheller, and The Little Mermaid

Happy Five on Friday - I hope you all had a great week!

ONE

I purchased everything in this post - this post contains affiliate links

It's spooky season and while I haven't shared any themed TBR's in a while, I especially love spooky season books! Also, I'm a little bit of a wimp, so I can handle a little creep and thrill but not full gore or horror, so I wrapped up some not-so-scary books i'm reading this month!

Here's a look:
  • Hocus Pocus: The Illustrated Novelization by A. W. Jantha and Illustrated by Gris Grimly ~ I love Hocus Pocus and I haven't actually read the original novel, so it's time! Plus, I love Gris Grimly so I was really excited to pick this one up!
  • She Is A Haunting by Trang Tranh Tran ~ This is giving haunted house vibes described as a "terrifying appetite haunts a broken family in this atmospheric horror" - this is perfect for this time of year!
  • The Skull by Jon Klassen ~ This is a children's illustrated chapter book about an old legend where a little boy finds a talking skull - it's cute and weird and I'm excited to read it with Elliott!
  • Never Whistle At Night: An Indigenous Dark Fiction Anthology: Are You Ready to Be Un-Settled? ~ This is a set of dark fiction tales al by indigenous authors and there is a few authors I love in here - so I'm excited to read some creepy tales!
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas by Megan Shepard ~ This is a retelling of the movie to celebrate it's 30th Birthday this year! I'm excited to read this during this month because it's one of my favourites!
What do you like to read for spooky season?

TWO

I thought I would try something new this month and I am sharing my most anticipated reads of the month - October has some amazing books being released so I can't wait for some of these! What are you most excited for this month?

THREE

It's been almost two years I went vegetarian and I've been enjoying sharing my veggie meals. I hope that you guys have been enjoying seeing all the recipes and veggie meal ideas! I'm not preachy about going vegetarian, but I do think everyone should reduce their meat consumption, so even if one day a week you want to do meatless Monday, hoping you will find some good suggestions! Also, I'm also going to include some of my eating out meals instead of just cooked for a little more inspiration if you are looking to eat vegetarian while out!

(Also, this month there are a few pescatarian meals in here as I eat fish and seafood once in a while!)

I also have codes for $90 off a GoodFood box so leave me your email if you are interested!

FOUR

This past weekend we took a day trip to Drumheller to see the Dinosaurs and we do it every year - it's our favourite. Both my kids are big dinosaur guys and we love the museum - there is some great badlands walks around and we had a great day!

FIVE

I finally watched The Little Mermaid this past weekend and enjoyed it! The cartoon will always be a classic, but I liked the movie - I didn't quite agree with all the criticism and I thought it was good!

I hope you all have a good weekend - we are off to the cabin for the weekend!
