Monthly Beauty and Book Haul ~ September 2023

Last year I set a monthly beauty and books budget at $200 per month and I really stuck to it! I am trying to be thoughtful in my purchases, so this has been holding me accountable for being reasonable with my spending. Since it worked so well last year, I'm really trying to do the same thing this year!

I do always love my Monthly Haul posts - it's a good way to keep track of everything that I picked up each month. I don't always blog about everything I pick up (I try to), but if you ever spot anything in here that you really want me to talk about, let me know!

I purchased everything in this post

XO Treatment Room Pick ~ $18.90 CAN. I went for a facial at XO Treatment Room at the start of the month, and I loooove all their skin and makeup products, so when they announced they released a lip oil gloss with come shimmer, I had to pick it up! Naturally, I love it! It is called Kiss This by XO and yhey released two shades - I picked up Bronze Coral. You can see the full review on this here

Indigo Pre-order ~ $21.31 CAN. The Mammoths At the Gates is the fourth book in Singing Hills novella series - these are a series of stories being told to a cleric as they document everything and travelling set in an imperial Chinese fantasy world! I love them and I love the cover art!

Indigo Preorder #2 ~ $18.22 CAN. September and October are the months for releases so expect a lot of these pre-orders coming in! I will read anything by Cherie Dimaline and this, Into The Bright Open is a Secret Garden retelling set in Canada with indigenous characters! This will be in my September wrap-up!

Indigo Pre-order #3 ~ $18.06 CAN. Whoops I forgot to take a picture, but I'm talking about The Circle by Katherena Vermette - this is the third book to The Break trilogy and it was lovely. These are powerful and often difficult, but worth the read!

Facebook Makeup Finds ~ $18.00 CAN. I got these for a good deal on an auction so I couldn't resist. The blush is the Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blush and I'm enjoying it. And the foundation is the SurrealSkin Liquid Foundation by Makeup by Mario and I think it is a touch too light for me right now, but might be good in the winter!

October Lush Subscription ~ $58.75 CAN. I ordered the October Lush Kitchen Subscription box because I love Lush's Halloween range and the box always comes with great Halloween goodies! It ships at the end of the month, so I should be seeing it and sharing it soon!

Value Village Finds ~ $13.10 CAN. I often find the books at Value Village a little expensive for thrifted books, but these both were on my wishlist so I did scoop them up - Anxious People by Fredrik Backman and Under A Painted Sky by Stacey Lee. Both are authors I've enjoyed other books from and looking to catch up on their other books.

Amazon Nail Haul ~ $40.75 CAN. There were a few things I wanted to pick up, the first being the MoYou London Gel Nail Strips - this brand was mostly nail stamping and now they've expanded in to nail strips, so I'm excited to give them a try. Then I picked up two Sesame Street x Sally Hansen - you've seen Up To Snuff on a Manicure Monday here, and the second shade is Turquesa Brillante. I also picked up a fun pack of Halloween stickers!

E-book purchase ~ $2.99 CAN. I really enjoy Adrienne Young's Fable series, and this is the second mini book she has released in e-book form. I like the side stories, so this on is Drift and focuses on Willa & Koy and I'm happy to give this a read soon!

Little Free Library Find ~ $0.00 CAN. I'm always so excited when one of my most anticipated books is in a little free library (I happen to always drive around with an extra book or two just in case I happen across one!) and this is The True Love Experiment by Christina Lauren. They are a romance author duology aI think this will be great!

This past month I spent $210.08 CAN on books and beauty - so very close to my budget. This month was pretty book heavy as the next couple might as well, but I'm always looking for balance and happy to be sticking to a budget!
