Time for another book review and I wanted this one to line up with the start of a new Bachelorette season this week, because it's an adult romance set around a reality t.v. dating show, and I loved it! If The Shoe Fits by Julie Murphy is a body positive twist on Cinderella - Cindy decides last minute to be a contestant on a dating show, very similar to The Bachelor and quickly becomes a favorite! The characters in the book were so enjoyable and Julie's writing style always has my hooked to keep seeing what would happen next - this was the first book in a while I stayed up late reading!
I loved the love story; but, I also loved the addition of the juicy "behind the scenes" clips of a reality dating show - it felt a little over the top, but very fun! Also, loved the focus of shows and fashion in there. This had more glimmers of the Cinderella story, as opposed to being a full on re-telling and I enjoyed that. This is the first book in the Meant To Be series that Disney Books is doing - they will be adult romances, and the next one is By The Book be Jasmine Guillory; it will be a Beauty and Beast retelling and it comes out in May! If The Shoe Fits is a 4.5/5 stars for me!

This week, Calgary had it's municipal election and we have finally elected our first female Mayor, Jyoti Gondek - I was quite worried as we had a pretty extreme candidate running against her and Alberta can be a little predictable, but it is lovely to see a progressive vote and I'm ready for some woman power running our city!

I was so excited when Jillian Harris announced another collection with Joe Fresh - I have the Jilly Jacket from last year and love it! So for this collection, a whole line was announced and I picked up a few things and love them - got the Marjorie top and the Karissa sleep set in the heart print! They are so cute! These particular styles are sold out, but there is still lots left in the collection online!

Have you guys ever subscribed to Scribd? It's an audiobook site that offers unlimited access. I'm currently on the 30 days free trial as my library get lots of audiobooks, but not everything. I thought it'd be worth checking out as there is rarely a wait for books (with the exception of some titles) and I can listen at work - got through my first book this week at work, so I might subscribe for a few months. The only thing that is a little frustrating is that there is of course some books not available to Canadians, but the same price for a subscription!
I hope you all have a good weekend!
