Happy Saturday everyone! I Hope you all had a good week - I took yesterday off for a little Halloween prep. I was really hoping to have a Halloween party this year and unfortunately, that is just not going to happen! But, I'm still enjoyed the day baking!

I purchased everything in this post - this post contains affiliate links
I always track my books on GoodReads, so if you have GoodReads and want to connect - you can find me here! I really love seeing what everyone is reading and I always find recommendations for myself from your reading lists! Here's what I'm planning on reading soon:
- The Lighthouse Witches by C.J. Cooke ~ This is described as a gothic thriller and I love that, because a lot of the witchy reads are on the light side! This is a lighthouse setting where mysterious and terrible events have happened on this island - it all started with a witch hunt and now, centuries later, islanders are vanishing without explanation. Coincidence?! I'm excited to dive in to this one!
- Sweet & Bitter Magic by Adrienne Tooley ~ This is a witchy book about "a witch cursed to never love meets a girl hiding her own dangerous magic, and the two strike a dangerous bargain to save their queendom". I'm very excited for this one - this came in an Owlcrate box earlier this year and it's gorgeous!
- The Witch Haven by Sasha Peyton Smith ~ This is a new young adult witchy dark academia book - the main character's brother is killed, and she is whisked away to a magical school under the guise of a sanitarium. I love the magical school setting and can't wait to read this one!
- Witches Steeped in Gold by Ciannon Smart ~ Another Owlcrate book - this was one of my anticipated books of the year! It is about rival witches who end up working together and it sounds and looks so good!
- The Book of Magic by Alice Hoffman ~ My current read - I love the Practical Magic series, and this is the conclusion to the series. I have loved the two prequels that were recently released, so it's a little bittersweet to see if come to an end, but we all want to know if the curse on the Owen's women can be broken!
What are you ready this time of year?!
TWO
Speaking of spooky season, it's timmmmeee. Okay, I did focaccia art in the Spring and it was a hit, so I knew I wanted to do something for Halloween and I love how this turned out! I use the Fraiche Living Focaccia recipe and it's good - for this I added on rosemary, and pumpkin seeds. The pumpkins are thinly sliced sweet potatoes - I used a pumpkin cookie cutter, and then freehanded the faces, and the spiders are olives!
THREE
My Halloween focaccia was not my only baking - yesterday's day off was a baking success! My biggest focus was the Oogie Boogie macarons! I use the Tasty macaron recipe and then I filled them with chocolate ganache and added a few gummy worms in to each! I also made jack-o-lantern cupcakes, pumpkin marshmallow rice krispies, Halloween chex mix, and Jack Skellington and mummies hot chocolate bomb! I love how these all turned out!
FOUR
Oooh - I had so much fun last weekend, and there was a little private event with a friend at the Kate Hewko story in Calgary, in partnership with Adrienne Furrie makeup - they are both Calgarians and I hadn't heard of either! I picked up an amazing t-shirt, herringbone duster, and a belt (that they styled during the runway show as a necklace and it was amazing!) I also picked up a few Adrienne Furrie makeup pieces and can't wait to try them out!
FIVE
Also, fellow Calgarians, I found my absolute favourite used bookstore - Books Between Friends! The prices are fantastic and it's actually huge! I found a ton of new releases and they donate all their profits to charities and I love that! I need to plan a visit again right away!
I hope you all have a good weekend - Happy Halloween!
