Covergirl Exhibitionist Mascara - Tryon and Review

I always get excited when a new mascara launches that promises full, thick, volumized lashes, especially when they are drugstore brands! Covergirl recently made a big splash in the beauty world by announcing that they have gone cruelty free and are leaping bunny certified, so that is very exciting for a drugstore brand!

I can be rather picky about my mascara formula - I happen to have long and curled lashes, so really all I want from a mascara is a full, volumized look. And, not just a little volumized, I'm talking full, thick lashes - but, not clumpy looking!

Maybe, that doesn't sound overly picky; but, there isn't a ton of mascara formulas that I really love on their own, I generally have to mix my mascara formulas!

Covergirl Exhibitionist Mascara

Covergirl Exhibitionist Mascara ~ $13.99 CAN. With Covergirl's Exhibitionist volumizing mascara, lashes are full and defined after only one coat. Our volumizing mascara formula glides smoothly onto lashes. Get lashes with showstopping volume, with no flaking or smudging.

I picked up this mascara in 800 - Very Black; but, it also comes in Black Brown, Black, and Waterproof Very Black. The description, pretty much sums up everything I want in a mascara, so I needed to try it! And, overall I really think that this mascara delivered on the promised results!

I was very excited when I saw the applicator of this mascara! I love myself a wand that is thick, with natural bristles (I hate the pokey plastic ones), and I love the shape of this one! This certainly is right up my alley!

You can also tell by looking at the wand, that this is not a super wet mascara formula and I really like that. I don't like when mascaras are too wet as I find they tend to clump or transfer on to my skin. It isn't a super dry formula either which I tend to prefer to build up, it's somewhere is the middle. I hope that makes sense - not too wet and not too dry. It can be layered without clumping or transferring. I think I will like the formula the drier it gets personally.

My test for a mascara is always the 3 Coat Test - for some crazy reason, I have to layer 3 coats of mascara on my lashes! I don't care if it looks great after one coat, I wasn't kidding when I said that I need major volume in my lashes!

Here is another look at my lashes starting with bare lashes, one coat of the Covergirl Exhibitionist Mascara, and then three coats of mascara.

I love the way this mascara made my lashes look - at the end of three coats, I didn't need to separate my lashes or fix up the layers of mascara at all. I thought this looked okay after one coat; but, it looked amazing after three coats! I really thought it delivered on the full, thick, and volumized claims! I thought it separated my lashes well and it didn't clump! It also claimed that there was no flaking or smudging and I think it lived it up to that as well!

Overall, I really liked this mascara - it's really everything I'm looking for in a mascara. I found it to be very comparable to the L'Oreal Lash Paradise mascara, which has been an easy favorite of mine. Both mascaras are the same price, so if you have a brand preference, they are quite similar on the lashes!

So, if you loved the idea of the mascara; but, are also looking for a fully cruelty free formula (because L'Oreal still sells in China, making them not full cruelty free. A lot of brands do this and it's not a make or break for me; but, less animal testing in the world is certainly the right step for the beauty world!)

I have been intrigued by Covergirl's new releases lately and I loved their announcement about being totally cruelty free! I think they are doing great things, and I will certainly be trying more soon! What do you think of Covergirl? And, have you tried this Mascara?

  1. It did clump on me, but I did like the volume! Since you already have curl, you're lucky. This did nothing for me in the curl department. Looks so much better on you! :)

    1. Oh bummer - it clumped on you. I do think it's a heavy department so I can't imagine it's great for curling!
