March 2015 Beauty Box 5 Review

Beauty Box 5 is a monthly subscription box that costs $12 US per month + $3 shipping to Canada. If you sign up for a longer subscription, you get a lower price per box: $30 quarterly, and $99 a year ( plus $3 shipping per month).

Beauty Box 5 has been referred to as the"starter beauty box" - it does not send many high end products and the value tends to be lower than other boxes, but they have sent out really good products!

*As of late, Beauty Box 5's boxes have been very up and down - they have had some great products; however, there have been very low box values and not so good products. I would suggest that you read reviews and see if it is products you like!*

Here is my March 2015 Beauty Box 5:

The theme for this month's box is "Hustle" - Forget taking a spring break - spring into high gear through your lazy days this season! Bold liner and lashes mean that even in your downtime, you still look like a million bucks. Getting ready doesn't have to add stress - just prep your skin and gloss on, because even if you're still working hard to get exactly where you want to be, you're always the boss of your makeup bag."

The product card always explains the products and why they were included:

Here is a closer look at the products included:

Eslor Introductory Collection Calming Kit ~ foil sample size 4 products at 20ml for $15 (full size is $45 for 4 products 60ml combined). Your skin is about to seriously thank you! This lavish line is completely paraben free and gently pampers and hydrates your face without stripping away natural oils.
Most people value foil samples at $0, I am including the price as I simply base it on weight and there is 4 products in here. This is not the first time I received this set from Beauty Box 5, they also included it back in their June 2014 box. I'm not totally bothered by this, while I don't like foil samples, I have actually really liked all these products and will use them!

Styli-Style Line & Seal Twist Mechanical Eyeliner in "Raisin" ~ full size $4.99. These creamy, pigmented pencils go on super smooth to give a perfect line or wing and their fun twist-up design means you never need to use a sharpener!
I have never heard of this brand before - but I am happy with the color I received. It isn't a color I already have and I will wear it. I am happy to see Beauty Box 5 include a full size product that is not old and discontinued! The product card did say assorted colors so other subscribers may have received different variations.

Scandalous by Nanacoco - Thickening Mascara in Black ~ full size $4.99. Embrace va-va-voom volume with this new favorite! The flexible silicon ball brush gets up close and personal to majorly magnify your lashes!
This product also say various colors, again I am happy with the color I received. I don't wear any mascara other than black! Here is a closer look at the wand:

This plastic-y bristles are not my favorite for my lashes, but I have been running a little low on mascaras so I am happy to receive a full size product! I will probably start this next month!

Elite Therapeutics Rosemary Eucalptus Body Cream ~ sample size 0.5 oz for $1.19 (full size is 8 oz for $19). Smooth on natural goodness for your whole body! Never greasy, this luxe lotion replenishes your skin with an organic blend of oils and healing Aloe Vera - plus, it smells divine, too.
This is a small sample for a body cream - if you were going to use it on your whole body, it would probably only last you 2 uses! The smell is quite strong as well - but it reminds my of a spa!

Laugh out Loud by Nanacoco Lip Gloss in "Call Me Babe" ~ full size $3.99. Warning: the gloss addiction starts now. Pretty pigments, seriously sweet smell factor and non-sticky formula all make this our latest lip crush!
Beauty Box 5 includes a lot of Nanacoco products, but as long as they continue to be full size and not discontinued, I am okay with it. I'm not happy with the color I received in the lipgloss - it is a lighter shimmery purple shade. I am going to pass it on!

So altogether, I received 5 products (3 full size) with a total value of $30.16 - which is a good value. I also like that most of the products are full size.

I have to say that this month's box is a much needed improvement - none of the items included were discontinued products! Yes, no one likes getting foil samples, but the product inside are actually really good! The only product I am not happy with, is the lipgloss just because I'm not a fan of the color I received!

I would still strongly caution you to do your homework before signing up for Beauty Box 5 - if you like what you see then sign up. This box has been up and down since I have started subscribing, but this months is good!

    1. No this subscription isn't the most impressive - this month was an improvement because nothing was old or discontinued! There are much better subscriptions out there!
