So, on that note, I'm always excited to try and find my perfect sunscreen - I've got a few that I love, but as more brands are upping their skincare game and focusing on SPF, I'm always happy to try all different sunscreens!
Skoah has had sunscreens previously, however, they've spent the last 12 months reformulating their sunscreens to be 100% mineral sunscreens - this was due to chemical sunscreen bans, making sure all their formulas are 100% non-toxic to the environment by using zinc oxide to not damage the ecosystems in oceans, lakes and rivers.
Skoah Zinc Lotion 30 ~ $58.00 CAN. This zinc oxide based facial topper is the perfect finishing layer to your daytime routine. Use on top of your daytime moisturizer and reapply as needed. Contains sun protection.
This is a 100% mineral sunscreen - they contain a natural “shield” against the sun's UVA and UVB rays that instantly and effectively reflect the sun's rays. Mineral sunscreens also start protecting your skin immediately after application, are well tolerated by most sensitive skin, and last longer on the skin.
I'm always a little weary of mineral sunscreens personally because I find the amount needed to actually provide sun protection typically comes with a whitecast (not always), so they aren't my preferred formula.
This formula is actually nice and light and applies well - I used my typical three finger application for my face, and it actually worked quite well. It smoothed nicely over the face and absorbed in to the face quickly. It didn't leave a white cast (quite impressed by that), but it does have a bit of a sheen, so as someone with oily skin this might be too shiny for me in the Summer when I get a little sweaty too.
Overall, this was easy to apply - it smoothed on really nicely, absorbed well and didn't leave a white cast. So if you are look for a 100% mineral face sunscreen, this would be great for you. For me, I have found formulas I still prefer with a more matte finish and a more affordable price point.
