Five on Friday - May 19, 2023 ~ May 2023 Owlcrate, Mother's Day, Getting My Garden Prepped, Italy Trip Reminiscing, and Alberta Wildfires

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have had a good week! It's the long weekend here, so hoping everyone enjoys - we have family coming in to town and are celebrating Damian's grad this weekend!

ONE

I purchased everything in this post

I just received my May Owlcrate subscription and this month's theme is "Against All Odds" - each month the book Owlcrate includes is signed by the author and comes with a note from the author as well. They often have special edition covers just for the box, and they seem to include a lot of exclusive items just for Owlcrate, which is so fun! As a bookworm, I have been loving this subscription! (Also, I put everything away and didn't take a picture, so check out my instagram or youtube for the video!)

The item's included in this month's box are:
  • Book - Divine Rivals by Rebecca Ross ~ This is a gorgeous book about rival writers with magical typewriters, and they go off to the front lines of a magical war. I enjoyed this book - this one comes with a redesigned covered, stencilled edges, and gorgeous art and foiling!
  • Book Mark Holder ~ This came with a gorgeous bookmark case inspired by The Girl Who Fell Beneath The Sea - the art is gorgeous and this is a great little addition!
  • Wax Stamp Set ~ I love wax stamps and I used them all the time for my blind date books, so I'm glad to have another stamp to use and it's a pretty little book. It was inspired by a book I haven't read, but still something I can enjoy!
  • Transparent Book Mark Set ~ This is a gorgeous trio of transparent book marks with gorgeous art - inspired by Six Crimson Cranes, A Magic Steeped in Poison, and Daughter of the Moon Goddess.
  • Collectable Bowl ~ This is the 5th bowl in the The Lord of the Rings set - I didn't get many boxes last year, so I didn't get any more of these. This one is inspired by Rohan.
  • Enamel Pin ~ The pins this year are all a gorgeous treasured tomes collection so they open like a book - this one is inspired by We Hunt The Flame, which sadly I haven't read!
If you are interested in signing up, Owlcrate is $35.99 US per month, plus shipping is $19.99 to Canada, so this worked out to just over $80 for me. I am planning on not receiving this box as often in 2023, as much as I love it, I'd rather just buy books I love and not have as much unnecessary things!

TWO

Last weekend was Mother's Day and I had a great day - had lunch and dinner with family, got some lovely flowers and wine and it was a perfect day!

THREE

Last weekend, I also had a whole day to myself to prep the garden - I did all the weeding and got everything ready and finally things are starting to bloom, it's my favourite time!

FOUR

Alright, I had to share because it's the long weekend - this weekend last year we were jetting off to Italy for two weeks and it was amazing! I hope to get back there one day - this is a Traocchi on the Adriatic Coast in the town my Grandpa was born in. It's so stunning everywhere there!

FIVE

It's not even Summer yet and already the province is in rough shape - honestly the snow all just melted a few weeks ago but it got so hot that the Northern part of the province has at least 90 fires, and the we've been covered in smoke. Soccer cancelled and everything because the air quality was off the charts. It's pretty scary for everyone evacuated right now - it's not by us, but could make for a really long season if this keeps up!

I hope you all have a good weekend!
