Five on Sunday - April 9, 2023 ~ XOA Facial at XO Treatment Room, Month of Vegetarian Meals, The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches, Old Navy & H and M Haul

(I had this prepped for Friday and forgot to post it!)

Happy Friday everyone - phew, it's been a long week here! I had to pick up my little guy on Tuesday because he was sick and it turns out he has hand, foot and mouth so we've been home together all week! It's been long, but Hoppy Easter weekend to everyone!

ONE

The Facial was received complimentary, everything else was purchased - this post contains affiliate links

I was lucky enough to get a gorgeous facial this week at XO Treatment Room here in Calgary. I was treated to an XOA facial with Maliyah and it was truly amazing! The company is expanding and so Annie is adding to her team and my experience was fantastic! The XOA Facial is totally customizable based on your skincare needs and concerns - you sit for a skin consultation beforehand and my concerns are always redness, uneven tone, and breakouts.

For the facial, we started with a laser treatment (which I was slightly nervous about but it just feels like warm rain), followed by two different peels based on different areas needs, there was some derma-planing, a mask with this lovely steamer, followed by some radio frequency and finished with some serum, moisturizer and a little massage! A few product samples and discussion at the end and voila - truly a full hour experience with all my concerns targeted. We focused on evening my skin tone and decongesting! My skin is feeling so smooth soft and you can see it's glowing! Amazing experience - but if you guys have been around for a while, you know I've been using xofacecare for years!

TWO

It's been over a year since I went vegetarian and I've been enjoying sharing my veggie meals on here - I hope that you guys have been enjoying seeing all the recipes and veggie meal ideas! I'm not preachy about going vegetarian, but I do think everyone should reduce their meat consumption, so even if one day a week you want to do meatless Monday, hoping you will find some good suggestions! Also, I'm also going to include some of my eating out meals instead of just cooked for a little more inspiration if you are looking to eat vegetarian while out!

Here's a look at some of my meals this month:
-fried tempeh, greek salad and naan
-homemade veggie pizza
-orange chick'n, veggies and rice
-plant based incredible shawarma wraps
-peanut butter toast with Dutch hagelslag
-breakfast bowl with potatoes, sweet potatoes, eggs and guacamole
-pulled jackfruit sandwhiches and coleslaw
-butter tofu and salad
-crunchwraps

THREE

Last year i really got in to the genre of "cozy" novels and this was consistently popping up on cozy reads list and I can see why - The Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna is the cutest, loveliest little magical realism witchy story!
We meet Mika Moon who has grown up alone, she is a witch and witches are too powerful if they are together for too long. She has used coping mechanisms of not getting too close to anyone and move around often. But, she gets a job offer she can't refuse - she is helping three young witches control their power. As she gets to know the girls and the other staff that work in the manner, there is of course this lovely found family element that is just totally heart-warming. The extra characters are fabulous - and of course, the love interest is a broody librarian with a grumpy/sunshine feel. There is good buildup and tension, the fallout was unexpected (just a different way), but it all wrapped up so nicely. Like a lovely, warm witchy hug! 4.5 stars.

FOUR

I did a big closet clear-out so I did a few new hauls - first up is my Old Navy haul! I picked up a couple of
Fitted Short-Sleeve V-Neck Bodysuit for Women (on sale for $7 each) that are super soft and comfortable, a couple of tank tops - Luxe Rib-Knit Swing Tank Top for Women in pink and Sleeveless Luxe V-Neck Swing T-Shirt for Women in white, and a couple of sandals - Faux-Leather Puffy Braided Sandals for Women in wishbone and Faux-Leather Cross-Strap Sandals for Women in black. The standouts from this order were the Matching Printed One-Piece Swimsuit for Women in Palm of Paradise and the Fit & Flare Twist-Front Cutout Midi Dress for Women in Raspberry Tart (on sale for $17). I've already worn the dress out already and I love it!

FIVE

And, a little look at my H&M haul - I love these Pull On Jersey Pants, I picked up a similar style last year in Italy, but shorter and I love a full leg, and the Knot-detail Cut-out Dress and it's gorgeous - I might have to get the top fit a little bit, and then these Jersey Pajamas were just too cute to pass up!

I hope you all have a great Easter weekend!
