Monthly Empties posts were getting a little overwhelming - they were a lot to write and keep notes about. I've decided to still talk about empties, but only makeup products and skincare products (no more body, hair, nail or personal care products!) It was just getting too much, but I still want to share my thoughts on products I've used up!
Some of these products were received as PR samples - this post contains affiliate links
Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel in Dark Brown ~ $12.00 CAN for mini size shown here (full size is $24.00 CAN). A highly-pigmented brow gel with a long-lasting, waterproof formula for creating fuller-looking, defined brows—like Dipbrow Pomade in a gel form.
I had a pretty instant love affair with this brow gel - it just adds so much colour and hold to my brows. It's a product that you actually only need to use the tiniest amount of product to use properly! It's a super long wearing formula and pretty weather proof! This has been such a game-changer for my brows so it's my go to!
Repurchase: Yes!
Paula's Choice Hyaluronic Acid + Peptide Lip Booster ~ $29.00 US. An advanced anti-aging lip treatment that smooths away fine lines and keeps lips looking youthfully full with a powerful blend of moisture-attracting hyaluronic acid, firming peptides and hydrating squalane.
This was perfect for dry lips - this one has been great. This quickly become my daily work lip balm and it's so lovely because it adds a hint of gloss while hydrating and moisturizing!
Repurchase: Maybe
L.A. Girl Shimmer Spray in Gold ~ $10.00 US/$11.99 CAN. Lock in your look with new Shimmer Setting spray, specially formuL.A.ted to have your makeup looking fresh all day long.
This was a pretty good setting spray - I enjoyed the shimmery finish of this and thought it worked well to set my makeup and give a pretty shimmer to the skin!
Repurchase: This is hard to find...
L'Oreal Voluminous Lash Paradise Mascara ~ $16.99 CAN. Voluptuous volume. Intense length. Full lash fringe. Feathery soft.
This was one of my most favourite mascara formulas (but that was back in November 2017) and it was still good this time using it - it is a great voluminous formula.
Repurchase: Yes!
ColourPop No Filter Matte Concealer in Light 14 ~ $10.80 CAN. Our lightweight, full coverage concealer was formulated with soft blurring pigments to give you a crease-proof, natural matte finish.
This is a matte concealer - it was too light and thick for my undereyes, but I used this for cutting the crease for my eye looks and it worked well.
Repurchase: No
NYX Epic Ink Liner ~ $13.49 CAN. Featuring a slender and supple brush tip, this intensely pigmented, waterproof eyeliner lets you achieve black liquid lines effortlessly.
This is one of my favourite eyeliner formula - I love how pigmented it is and the flexible felt tip is perfect; but, this one started to fray and my second one is doing the same thing, so I just can't have that. I'm going to have to find a different one as a frayed tip is too hard to use.
Repurchase: Disappointingly no...
Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence ~ $21.97 CAN. Like a multivitamin for your skin, this highly concentrated essence contains 96% snail mucin, providing nutrients that support repair and maintain skin moisture.
This is a lovely, incredibly hydrating serum - it made my favourite skincare products in 2021. It is nice and thick and you can glob it on, I use this most nice, either on it's own of mixed with other serums and it's great for just maintaining a healthy looking glow. My skin feels brighter, smoother and this has improved the appearance of my skin overall!
Repurchase: Yes!
Paula's Choice C15 Super Booster ~ $52.00 US. This concentrated booster with 15% pure vitamin C dramatically brightens uneven skin while improving the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
I'm finally feeling comfortable with using vitamin C in my skincare routine, and this was one the serums that helped with that. I enjoyed this formula and I really like the Paula's Choice boosters - I thought this one was good, but I do have vitamin c that I prefer a little more.
Repurchase: Maybe, I'm not opposed to using it again!
Sephora Collection Triple Action Cleansing Water - Cleanse + Purify ~ sample size show (full size is $16.00 CAN). A cleansing water, formulated with zinc and aloe vera, that efficiently removes makeup from the face and eyes while purifying the skin.
This was something I brought along for short family trips this Summer and it worked fine - it was nice and gentle, but I prefer the Bioderma one overall.
Repurchase: Not likely
Barr Centella Calming Ampoule Toner ~ $34.00 CAN. An ampoule toner packed with 80% Centella Asiatica to calm and soothe sensitive skin and 0.5% Panthenol to offer deep hydration.
I don't always save these small samples, but I was excited for this brand - the ingredients sounded great and this was a nice and gentle toner. This is a brand I'd love to try more from.
Repurchase: Perhaps!
Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch x 2 ~ $5.97 CAN. Acne Pimple Master Patch heals acne, blemishes and prevents future breakouts quickly.
(There is another below too!) These are a holy grail in my collection - these made my favourites all the way back in September 2015 and I still repurchase consistently, and repurchase them in bulk. These clear up acne so well and so quickly!
Repurchase: Yes - I have plenty of backups

Burt’s Bees Sensitive Facial Cleansing Towelettes with Aloe ~ $9.97 CAN. These cleansing cloths are gentle on sensitive skin and removes makeup quickly and easily without rinsing.
I've been relying on wipes less and less - I do not use them on my face, only when I'm cleaning swatches, cleaning up little things so I try and use one more than once if I can. On that note, these ones weren't very saturated and I didn't think overall they did much. If I used wipes on my face, these would not have removed my makeup well.
Repurchase: No
Pixi Glow Tonic ~ sample shown (full size is $20.00 CAN). This bestselling cult favourite toner gently accelerates cell renewal to reveal a brighter, glowing complexion.
This is a pretty classic resurfacing toner - it's a great little AHA toner and it's something that I use every couple of days for a brighter complexion. I brought this on my trip and it worked and travelled well.
Repurchase: Yes
Eyenlip Easy Herb Cleansing Oil ~ $2.00 for travel pack. Hydrophilic oil provides deep cleansing of the skin, helps remove makeup, effectively in the fight against black spots.
This was actually a great little pack and a good cleansing oil - this lasted me the whole 2 weeks in Italy and I used the last of it on the last day so it was the perfect amount for a trip, plus this was great in the travel bag. The formula itself was good as well and it took off all my makeup!
Repurchase: Yes, I would try and pick this up for another trip!
Alright, so for the second quarter of the year I used up 6 makeup products and 9 skincare products - I've used a bunch more body and bath products, but it's better just to chat about these ones! Decent quarter I think!
