Okay, I raved a little about XO Treatment Room's skincare line, XO Face Care here before - it is a Calgary Facialist brand, run by Annie who proudly whips up formulas full of chemicals good for your skin!
I have been following XO Treatment Room for a long time and I have been using their products for the last year or so and loving them! (It's my goal this year to get my butt in their place for an in person facial this year, but in the mean time, I will keep using all their products!)

I haven't tried everything from the the brand; however, everything I have tried from them has been really good - I know at this point in time, if I pick something else up, I'm going to love it! (I'm actually using a Facial Oil by them that is amazing - I haven't shared because it was a limited edition product for Mother's Day last year. Annie always has fun Thursday special, seasonal products and lots to choose from!
You've actually seen me rave about these products before, but I haven't done a full review on either - both of these were on my Best Skincare Discoveries of 2021! Here's a closer look at a couple of my favourite serums:
XO Treatment Room Heavy C ~ $89.00 CAN. Heavy C is unique in chemical structure due to the ethyl group forming an ether with the 3-hydroxy group of the ascorbic acid, which results in much higher stability. Proven for collagen synthesis (skin firming/anti-aging), skin brightening, and direct inhibition of melanogenesis (production of melanin pigments). Vitamin C has more data on it than any other topical antioxidant in skin care. However, the molecule can be quite unstable and degrade quickly.
Alright, that description is very scientificy, but that's what I love about Annie and her brand - she embraces the science behind skincare and shows you that chemical formulations an be safe and not scary! I've talked a little bit about trying Vitamin C serums before, and I had a year or two of trying formulas, and I would break out or react weird, and I was about to give up until I tried this formula! When it's described as the "most stable" Vitamin C, I can attest that my skin loves this formula, where it's been sensitive to others! This formula in particular will help target anti-aging by boosting collagen production and repairing uv damage, but it's also added to a much more even skin tone as well as less breakouts and a healthier skin appearance overall!
This has easily become my go-to morning serum - I have used a full travel size and am on my second full size bottle, so needless to say that I won't ever use another Vitamin C serum! This is a nice gentle serum and one pump is perfect for my morning routine (it's where I prefer to use this type of serum, but if you preferred you could use it at night as well too). Another important note with this, is that Vitamin C adds some light sensitivity, so you should use an SPF every day with this (I mean every day anyways!)
XO Treatment Room Face Care Intergalactic Lactic Acid Serum ~ $89.00 CAN. Intergalactic Lactic Acid is a gentle exfoliating and hydrating peel serum. The combination of acids and enzymes work to even tone and texture on the surface of the skin without the harshness of other AHA’s. With the exfoliation of dull skin cells a brighter complexion is achieved. With the added benefits of Alpha Bisbablol to aid in reducing fine lines, dry skin and stubborn sunspots.
This is a stronger peel, meant for weekly or monthly use, as opposed to every couple of days - it is still a gentle and hydrating formula and does not feel harsh on the skin. I've had some pretty strong exfoliants that have made my eyes water up while wearing, and this one doesn't do that for me. Lactic Acid is an AHA and it's great for exfoliating and anti-aging properties. This totally makes my skin clearer and brighter when I use it!
This can be used as intensive weekly serum by applying once per week, but the owner uses this every 3 weeks for 3 nights in a row, so I've adapted that application a little - I personally use this every 4 weeks for 3 nights in a row. I actually coordinate with the week leading up to my period so I can help ward off or minimize hormonal acne, and this is a game changer with that. For the past few months using it during this time, it's helped reduce the really deep hormonal acne and minimize how long any pimples last for if they had popped up during that time (pun not intended, but was great so I had to leave it!)
I've been so impressed with XO Face Care's products - I'm also using their lip oils, body lotion and facial oil right now and all are great! They offer lots of travel sizes, so if you're interested in trying a formula first, you can do it that way. They are on the pricier side for some skincare products, however, with the formulations so good and they are all made by Annie right in her Calgary lab, I think they are worth the investment! I know I'm going to try the Lunar Veil the next time a travel size is available in that formula!
