Five on Friday - June 4, 2021 ~ Monthly Makeup Basket, The Nature of Witches Book Review, Rollerblading and Declutter!

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all had a great week - it was so crazy hot in Calgary this week, and it was so warm and beautiful!

ONE

Monthly Makeup Basket
I purchased everything in this post

I have been keeping up my Monthly Makeup Baskets throughout this pandemic; but, I am finding it a little hard to use everything in a single month as I am wearing masks all the time. So, for now, I am going to do bi-monthly baskets just so I can get a little more use out of the products that I'm using!

Here's a look at the products I'm focusing on for June and July:
I'm really excited to use all these products for the next couple of months!

TWO

The Nature of Witches

I'm so excited to share another book review (and another gorgeous book to boot!) This book, The Nature of Witches, was just released on June 1 and I read an arc from Netgalley and had to pre-order this book right away! This was a 4.5/5 stars rating for me - I really enjoyed this book! I like that a main element is human caused climate change, but in an approachable way, with magic. To start, the world is the same but plagued with serious off-season weather events - humans are careless with the planet because they know that witches weather magic can reverse and change these events. Each witch's magic is seasonal; but, because off-season weather is occurring, witches are being depleted of their magic and dying while trying to reverse the problems.

Clara is the first "ever" born in 100 years, meaning she has the magic of all seasons. But, she does not like to use her magic as it has harmed many people she loves. She is still in school, trying to harness her powers or decide to get rid of them and risk her life. It's a book about finding and coming in to yourself and harnessing your power. It also touches on the power of friendship and love. I wont spoil much, but my favourite scene is when Clara and Sang speak to each other in flowers - it was gorgeous! It has enough teenage angst and growth, that I really enjoyed it!

THREE

Alright, last week I picked up a new hobby for the first time - I tried rollerblading! My little guy is super fast on his bike and I don't bicycle, so I need to find a way to keep up with my kid! I found a pair for $30 on Marketplace, and I went out with a friend to give them a try! I didn't fall, so that's a good thing, but I need to practice more!

FOUR

Since I just introduced a new Monthly Makeup Basket, here is a look at the products I used for the past two months:
  • Jaclyn Cosmetics Accent Light Palette in "The Flash" ~ This was a limited edition product and this is a lovely palette. I used this a fair bit over the past two months and enjoyed it!
  • Physicians Formula Rose All Day Petal Glow in Petal Pink ~ This is a pretty glowy blush on me and I love this shade so much!
  • ColourPop Disney Designer Enchanted Mirror Pressed Powder Blush ~ This is a light pink, pretty blush and it's a perfect every day blush for me!
  • Pixi On-the-Glow Blush in Juicy ~ This is a new blush in my collection and I absolutely love this formula - the best cream blush I've tried!
  • Auric Glow Lust Radiant Luminizer in Selenite ~ This is a newer product in my collection, and I haven't reached for it a ton, because it's not a formula I typically use, so it's pretty, just have to reach for it more!
I enjoyed all of these!

FIVE

The end of the month always means a little declutter -nothing crazy this time, just a really old Tarte oil and a dried up Konjac sponge. So, these are just old, nothing wrong with them!

I hope you all have a good weekend!
