Happy Manicure Monday everyone - I hope you all had a great weekend!
This month the #CBBxManiMonday group is switching it up a little bit this month and the theme is Allyship - June is both Pride Month and Indigenous History Month. Each week we will be sharing manis based on our allyship with these causes and sharing resources to help draw attention to, informative information or agencies in our areas that are assisting people.
I'm also taking my allyship one step farther this month, and each week along with my information and mani, I'm going to be donating $100 to a different organization each week. While I think education and information are fantastic, I also want action and support to come through!
- China Glaze polish Summer Moon
- Essie polish in Talk Sweet To Me
- Bio Sculpture Gemini polish in Bohemian Beauty
- Moyra Top Coat for Nail Stamping
I also used a nail dotting tool for this manicure!
Skipping Stone is a Calgary based agency that is all about connecting trans and gender diverse youth, adults, and families across in Alberta with low barrier and comprehensive access to the support they need. There is a variety of support from individual support, group programs and events and activities. They offer mentoring, gender gear, expression, transportation, ID clinics, recreation, food, income and job prep support, legal assistance and health care. They are an absolutely deserving agency, and because they are supporting local people and families, I'm donating to them this week!
Trans rights are human rights - trans people have to fight so hard to be recognized for who they are, so I will always use proper pronouns and correct those who do not, because it's only fair that we help people understand why it's important to be recognized as who we are. Alberta has a long way to go in the way of trans rights, which is why agencies like Skipping Stone are so important in our community! Also, GLAAD has some tips on how to be a good Transgender Ally and it's important to get educated - there is always more we can do to be better humans!
The Trans Flag is Blue, Pink and White - the three colours represent baby blue (boys), baby pink (girls), and white for those who are transitioning, intersex or consider themselves as having an unidentified gender. So, I started with two coats of white polish as the base coat, then I dotted on blue and pink in the flag pattern! Then I finished with the nail art top coat!
As always, make sure to check out Cosmetic Proof and Prairie Beauty Love to see their allyship nails too!
