Kaleidos Makeup - Sashimi City Futurism Palette & Ray Rider Space Age Highlighter

At the start of the year, I came up with a list of brands that I wanted to try and Kaleidos was one of the ten brands on that list and I'm so excited that close to the end of 2020, I was able to try them!

I purchased all these products

Kaleidos Makeup has had some gorgeous products all year - they have gorgeous eyeshadow palettes, but they had quite a few colourful palettes that just weren't quite the right colour story for me! Then, they announced this gorgeous neutral palette and I knew it was the perfect way to try the brand, because I will actually get much more use out of this! Plus, I had to try one of their stunning highlighters!

Kaleidos is a brand based out of Hong Kong (I think, their Instagram say Shanghai) and was founded on the idea of personal empowerment through makeup. The name comes from kaleidoscope, the colourful moving mosaic which is is the perfect analogy for the constant evolution of beauty. The foundation of their brand is individuality, authenticity, and eccentricity.

Kaleidos Futurism Palette VII: Sashimi City ~ $24.00 US. Dynamic, cosmopolitan salmon delicacies. Saunter down a lively boulevard and soak up the vibe while indulging in renowned specialties. Includes four muted mattes, one sumptuous multichrome, and one savory sparkling duochrome.

I love that this is a neutral palette, but it has a little spin with a multichrome and a duochrome - I also think that it has the right mix of light, medium and dark mattes! It's a gorgeous palette! Plus, the packaging of these palettes are stunning! (Spoiler alert, if you saw my October Monthly Favourites you already know I love this palette!)

Also, this is by far the most neutral release the brand has done, they typically have much more colourful palettes and I would certainly try the formula in another colour story now!

To go along with the "Sashimi" name, the names of all the shadows are all sushi/sashimi related and I love that little touch! I prefer the names of the shadows to be printed on the packaging though, asI typically throw away the plastic insert.

Promenade ~ tranquil, meandering clay brown matte
Penthouse ~ sky-high champagne gold sparkling duochrome with a golden green shift
Gourmetdelectable light peach caramel matte
Pink Ginger ~ zesty pink multichrome with a sunset orange and gold shift
Salmon Skyline ~ spectacular skylit salmon matte
Soy Sauce ~ scrumptious and tangy chestnut brown matte

The mattes are smooth and creamy and the formula is great - they apply well, blend and build well and are lasting! I found the duochrome and multichrome shimmer shadows to be beautiful, but very lightly based so they weren't incredibly pigmented - they are much better suited as a shadow topper. This is fine, but I was expected more pigmentation - they are still gorgeous on the lid and inner corner!

For this eye look, I used Gourmet as the transition shadow in the crease and then deepened the crease with Salmon Skyline. Then I used Promenade in the outer corner. I applied Gourmet to the lid as the base shadow, then applied Pink Ginger to the middle of the lid and Penthouse to the inner lid and inner corner.

(This look was the first time using the duo and multichrome and I think I've found a way to apply them nicer - I did try a brush here and prefer a wet brush or patted on). This has quickly become one of my favourites, it's a lovely palette!

Kaleidos Makeup - Sashimi City Futurism Palette & Ray Rider Space Age Highlighter

Kaleidos Space Age Highlighter in Ray Rider ~ $14.00 US. A velvety champagne sheen with a trace of peach. Cruise through gilded galaxies and carve through solar flares on this lustrous golden ray.

I've heard such good things about these highlighters, so I had to pick one up! The packaging is really fun, but it's a little bulkier than I typically prefer. I do think the design is really fun.

This is champagne-peachy shade thats perfect for my skintone, but they did release a wide variety of finishes including pink and blue! Also, the brand has been using some critique on their colour range and releasing some darker shades in the line to reach all skin tones and I think that's great!

This is Ray Rider and it is absolutely gorgeous! I love the finish and that it's shimmery but not glittery or anything - I love the shade. It's creamy and applies really nicely and wears well! It can be very pigmented but it does blend in nicely too so it's less pigmented!

Here is a look at Ray Rider on the cheeks - I love it! It is a good formula, I do have to use it more and can't wait to put it in a Monthly Makeup Basket next month so I can get a great feel for it! Also, this look I have the same look with the Sashimi City palette!

I love how these products wear and I'm so excited that I finally got a chance to try the brand! I'm really hoping that in 2021 I will be able to try even more products from them because they are certainly staying on my radar now!
