Hot Topic has some really cute Nightmare Before Christmas products, so I was buying some decor and costume items, I saw this eyeshadow palette and it was pretty cute so I snuck it to give it a try!
I will be honest, this isn't an easy blog post to write - I typically review and talk about products that I really enjoy here, but sometimes there is just something that's really not good and I think I should share so you can avoid making the same mistake! (I know there is some really cute looking palettes at Hot Topic, so I think you should see their quality before you think about picking them up for gifts or anything!)
But first, I will share a little bit about the palette:
Hot Topic The Nightmare Before Christmas Jack & Sally Love is Eternal Eyeshadow Palette ~ $16.90 US. Jack and Sally's love is eternal just like your love of makeup. This eyeshadow palette will be sure to give you the perfect spooky, smokey eye. There are 5 shimmery and 7 matte shades, each with their own The Nightmare Before Christmas-inspired name.
The shades in this palette were super cute - I loved the shade range and the colour combination and the mixture of mattes and shimmers.
Undying Love ~ purple shimmer
Ghoulish Feelings ~ blue shimmer
Mischief ~ champagne shimmer
Misfit Love ~ matte rust brown
Goodbye Jack ~ matte orange
Aren't You Scared ~ medium plum purple matte
Doll Face ~ teal matte
It's Ours ~ deep purple grey shimmer
Dr. Finkelstein ~ white silver shimmer
Master Of Freight ~ matte black
I was a little worried about the pigmentation after swatching, these are really on the light side; but, I still gave this palette a fair shot as sometimes light shadows can be blended and built up, swatches are not always everything.
But, with this palette the swatches were a pretty good indicator that this palette was not good. I used an eyeshadow primer and I could barely get pigmentation. I tried blending, patting them on, building them up, using a finger to apply the shimmers - it was all bad. Nothing I did could make these shadow look good on the eyes. These basically didn't apply or lifted off and it was probably the worst eyeshadow I've ever used.
I had pretty low expectations for this palette, but I thought I would at least be able to pull a lightly pigmented look off. But, they wouldn't even apply. I wouldn't even buy these palettes as play makeup, this was awful.
I have to apologize that this is such a negative review - I just think you need to be forewarned to stay far away from this eyeshadow formula!
Too bad this palette didn't work out - the colors could have been awesome!

I agree with Jenna. The color story is really nice but they need to work on pigmentation.
DeleteSo bummed about the formula - too bad!
