September 2019 - Monthly Empties

Time to dig in to my beauty garbage:

September 2019 - Monthly Empties
Some products were received as PR samples - this post contains affiliate links

Smashbox Photo Finish Primerizer ~ sample shown (full size is $20.00 - $55.00 CAN). A face primer and moisturizer in one that delivers 24-hour hydration and powerful primer benefits in the lightest possible texture.

I've heard rave reviews about primerizer and I thought it was okay - I actually thought it was a little thin and I'm not sure that it really let the makeup adhere better or last longer, so it didn't do what i expected. It was moisturizing and felt nice on my face, but that's not enough for me to like a primer!
Repurchase: Not likely

Urban Decay All Nighter Waterproof Full-Coverage Concealer ~ $38.00 CAN. Our ultra-pigmented, blendable formula controls shine and masks imperfections for 24 hours.

I felt like I kept trying and trying to make this concealer work and I just can't! It is so thick and it doesn't blend at all! The second you apply it, it's stuck in that spot and it does not blend with a sponge at all. It also creases like crazy and looks thick and bad under my eyes. I could not finish this - I felt like I tried too hard.
Repurchase: NO!

Too Faced Damn Girl! 24 Hour Mascara ~ sample size shown (full size is $32.00 CAN and travel size is $17.00 CAN). A high-intensity mascara for maximum drama and lift with revolutionary, creamy-mousse formula for extreme volume without a heavy feel.

This mascara was a quick and easy love - you can see my full review and look here, and this even made my Monthly Favourites in June! This mascara makes my lashes so full and dramatic, without clumping! I love how this makes my lashes look so much!
Repurchase: Yes!!!

Doucce Punk Volumizer Mascara ~ $24.00 US. Define lashes one by one, adding extreme volume and thickness. Instantly create dramatically full and seductive lashes for an audacious false-look effect.

I thought this was a pretty decent mascara actually - it was volumizing and non-clumpy. You can see it in action in a makeup look here! It wasn't flaky and looked really nice; but, this mascara seems hard to find - I've never really seen the brand in stores, so it's not vert accessible.

Repurchase: Probably If I saw it at a store near me!

Estee Lauder The Smoother Universal Perfecting Primer ~ $50.00 CAN. Prep your skin for the ultimate makeup application. Infused with skin-softening apricot essence, this lightweight primer optically perfects skin, diffusing the look of pores and imperfections.

This primer has been seen a lot around here for the past couple of months because I featured it in my Summer Project Pan and I finished it just in time for the end of the Project! Woo hoo! This is a good primer and it easily made my Best of Beauty 2017, so it's just that it was getting a little old in my collection so I'm happy I was able to use it all up!
Repurchase: Yes eventually

Morphe Continuous Setting Mist ~ $20.00 CAN. A setting mist to defend your makeup artistry.

I absolutely love that this setting spray is a continuous mister - the application is so perfect!
No need to worry about a thick spray or blotches landing on your face. Seriously, I love the mister! This made my Favourite Setting Sprays and it is great for every day. It does have a glowy finish, and I do wish they would release a matte version in this spray! That would be amazing, but this is still good!
Repurchase: Yes I will

Drunk Elephant B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum ~ sample shown (full size is $68.00 CAN). This ultra-hydrating vitamin B5 serum replenishes nutrients while delivering hydration throughout the day to improve the look of skin texture and tone.

Drunk Elephant has been pretty hyped up and I haven't really tried much before, so I was pretty excited to try this serum! This was fine, it was hydrating and comfortable. But, it's pretty pricey and I think it's just okay for me.
Repurchase: Not really sure

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser ~ deluxe size shown (full size is $49.00 CAN). A bestselling, do-it-all cleanser for all skin types that’s tough on makeup but gentle on skin.

This is a nice, gentle face cleanser - it smells like cucumbers and is really easy on the skin! Love it for in the mornings for just a nice, gentle cleanser!
Repurchase: Yes

Vichy Ideal Soleil Anti-Shine Dry Touch Lotion SPF60 ~ $28.95 CAN. High protection sunscreen against UVA/UVB rays, for face, recognized by Canadian Dermatology Association. Long lasting anti-shine effect.

This sunscreen is amazing - perfect for the face and worked well for the Summer (or any time!) You can see my review right here and this made my Monthly Favourites in June 2018, so I used it until the expiry date and it's so close to being finished!
It leaves the skin matte without being drying at all and keeps skin matte and not greasy or oily all day! This is one of the best face formulas I have tried in a sunscreen - on it's own and under makeup!
Repurchase: Yes, I will

Skoah Hydradew Mask ~ $52.00 CAN. Our most popular mask. Chock full of oil free hydrating ingredients. Contains glycosaminoglycans (from vegetable skins), hyaluronic acid, sea kelp algae and plant extracts.

I love this mask - you can read my whole review on the mask here and it made my Monthly Favourites in June 2017, so this was getting older in my collection as well. This is a multi-use product and can be used as a rinse off mask, leave on mask, or prior-to and mixed in with your moisturizer! I personally liked it best mixed with my moisturizer and thought it offer a lot of hydration!
Repurchase: Yes, I would

Avene Eau Thermale Thermal Spring Water ~ travel size shown (full size is $21.95 CAN). Avène Thermal Spring Water is captured directly at its source and bottled in a sterile environment, ensuring that all its soothing and softening properties are preserved.

I know some people think water in a mist are a scam; but, this mist was so good! I actually think this made my skin clearer and my skin just looked and felt good using this! I also love the mister - it was so fine and it absorbed quickly!
Repurchase: Yes!

September 2019 - Monthly Empties

Colab Paradise Invisible Dry Shampoo ~ $9.99 CAN. COLAB's Paradise fragrance Dry Shampoo gives hair an instant wow-factor with feel-good flamingo vibes and a totally tropical, coconut scent.

I really liked this dry shampoo - you can see my full thoughts here if you are interested and it made my Monthly Favourites in May 2019. I love the scent and this has no white cast at all! Really great formula! I did found that I used this one much faster than I normally would though - i'm not sure if that's me or the product itself; but, overall it's a great dry shampoo!
Repurchase: Yes!

North American Hemp Co. Soak It Up Moisturizing Conditioner ~ sample shown ($10.49 CAN for full size). Soak It Up Conditioner restores your dry brittle hair to silky smoothness with Omega 3, 6 and 9 fatty acids, chamomile extracts and thermal algae.

This was a fine conditioner, but the scent just didn't work for me - it's so musky and hempy (duh - I know), but I just didn't like that scent on my hair.
Repurchase: No

Decode Stimulating Shampoo ~ sample shown ($15.79 CAN for full size).  Awaken your senses with this invigorating shampoo specifically designed to optimize scalp conditions for healthy, manageable hair.

This was just okay for me - I didn't really like the scent. It also didn't stretch my hair out for a couple of days of no washing and no dry shampoo so it worked in that it washed my hair, but didn't do much else.

Repurchase: Nah

Clear Care Plus Cleaning and Disinfecting Solution ~ $19.97 CAN. Not only does CLEAR CARE® PLUS Cleaning and Disinfecting Solution clean and disinfect your contact lenses with the bubbling power of hydrogen peroxide, it also surrounds your lenses with long-lasting moisture.

This is a great contact solution - I switched to a hydrogen peroxide solution over a year ago (with only one mishap of not letting it rinse long enough). This is at least a 6 hour solution; but, it's great! Much better at cleaning than regular solutions!
Repurchase: Yes!

Green Beaver Baby Wash Fragrance Free ~ $10.99 CAN. Ideal for delicate skin, this line has been infused with natural ingredients such as sunflower oil and chamomile extract, to help nourish, hydrate and protect skin and hair.

This is great - creaming, gentle and has no scent so it's perfect for any age! It made a good bubble bath too and worked well on Elliott's skin!
Repurchase: I would, yes!

Marvis Toothpaste x3 in Jasmine Mint, Cinnamon Mint and Classic Strong Mint ~ $32.60 CAN for 7 mini toothpastes in a flavour collection.

I love Marvis toothpaste - the Aquatic mint flavour easily made my monthly favorites in April and I bought this flavour set to try the other types! I loooved to Licorice Mint and the Whitening Mint too! So good!
Repurchase: Yes

Johnson & Johnson Mint Waxed Floss ~ $?

Alright, I know this isn't an exciting products, but seriously who finishes a floss?! I know I don't do it often, so I had to include it!
Repurchase: I have enough to last a life time

Lush Snow Fairy Shower Gel ~ sample shown ($9.95 CAN for 100 ml). We crave Snow Fairy's bubblegum and sweet vanilla fragrance all year, and just can't imagine the holidays without her. Our famous fairy contains a smattering of biodegradable shimmering luster (or as we like to call it, Fairy Dust), so she won't harm the earth one little bit.

This is the BEST scent ever - this is always a special edition Christmas release! It is a delicious, sweet scent and this is the best shower gel! It made my Monthly Favourites since December 2016 and I've loved it ever since!
Repurchase: Yes!

Lush Ocean Salt Face And Body Scrub ~ sample shown (full size is $21.95 CAN). Washing with Ocean Salt is like taking your face on a trip to the seaside for an invigorating splash in the water. The minerals in sea salt soften as it scrubs away dirt, dead skin and blockages for a bright, fresh face.

I don't use this on my face because it's quite heavy of a scrub - it's a great body scrub though! It smells good and works. Overall, I do prefer a lighter, more gentle scrub.
Repurchase: Not likely

Vichy Ideal Body Balm ~ sample shown (full size is 200ml for $27.50). Balm with high concentration of shea butter for ideal skin quality, continuous hydration, harmonized skin tone, firmness and smoothness.

This was a yummy little balm and it smells delicious! It's thick and moisturizing!
Repurchase: Yes, I would!

Philosophy Purity Made Simple Ultra-Light Moisturizer ~ sample shown (full size is $34.00 US). A daily ultra-light face moisturizer with antioxidants that deliver 24-hour hydration—and in three days, see a dewy complexion with less-visible pores.

This was fine - I think it's actually a little thin for my combo/oily skin, so I'm not sure who it would be good for?! It did offer moisturization, just not as much as I would prefer.
Repurchase: No

TonyMoly Prestige Jeju Snail Cream ~ sample shown (full size is $79.50 US). Contains fermentated filtration of snails feed with gold colloids and cactus in Jeju.

This was actually a really moisturizing moisturizer - it was nice, thick and hydrating! But, it's a little on the pricey side.
Repurchase: Mmmm.... it looks pretty hard to find

Verb Hydrating Shampoo ~ sample (full size is $11.00 - $48.00 CAN). Verb Hydrating Shampoo is a mild, everyday formula that gently yet effectively cleanses hair.

Verb Hydrating Conditioner ~ sample (full size is $11.00 - $48.00 CAN). Formulated to wash away clean, it delivers intense moisture and natural shine to hair.

I thought this was a good little duo - it didn't give me 2 days without dry shampoo and looked greasy on the second day (but that's pretty normal), I thought this was hydrating so it worked that way.
Repurchase: Mmmm... probably not

Amika Velveteen Dream Smoothing Shampoo ~ sample shown (full size is $26.00 CAN). A shampoo that locks out frizz and keeps hair smooth, silky, and soft all day long.

Amika Velveteen Dream Smoothing Conditioner ~ sample shown (full size is $26.50 CAN). A conditioner that locks out frizz and keeps hair smooth, silky, and soft all day long.

These were okay, again I didn't think they were amazing- they were pretty normal, but they only lasted one day on my hair, meaning day 2 needed dry shampoo. So, they were softening on my hair, but maybe a little too softening for my thin, fine hair.
Repurchase: No

Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel ~ sample shown (full size is $37.00 CAN). A Dermatologist-developed oil-free face moisturizer that softens, smooths, and leaves skin glowing as step 3 in Clinique’s customized 3-step Skin Care System.

I actually really liked this moisturizer! I thought the gel texture was great and it was light, but absorbed nicely in the skin and left me moisturized!
Repurchase: Yes, I might!

Bioderma Sensibio H2O Micelle Solution ~ sample shown ($19.90 CAN for 500 ml). The cleansing and make-up removing water in Canada that respects the fragility of sensitive skin.

I've raved about this before - it is easily my holy grail makeup remover. It works so well and is gentle on the skin. This little mini was fantastic - was perfect for when I worked out of town for a week!
Repurchase: Yes!

Ren Evercalm Global Protection Day Cream ~ sample shown (full size is $64.00 CAN). A moisturizer that combats chronic discomfort, redness, and sensitivity to ensure skin glows with renewed health and stays looking younger for longer.

This was fine - it was a good moisturizer, nothing outstanding for me personally. Did the trick, moisturized. It's always hard to see claims after 2 uses, so maybe this is better over a longer period.
Repurchase: Nah...

Skin Inc. Vitamin A Serum ~ sample shown (full size is $35.00 US). A serum that targets dullness and signs of tiredness around the eyes for a healthy look.

This was a good little serum - this sample actually had very little in it. But, these are fun because they have little gel bits inside that burst open when you apply this serum. It felt moisturizing.
Repurchase: Not likely

Sweet As Candy Black Raspeberry Vanilla Cake Soap ~ $?

I picked these up last year and liked them - I thought the soap was good, although it did lose it's scent as I used it, but I guess that's expected. Also, I used it for a while as it was my bath soap.
Repurchase: This is no longer available, I would try there other soaps!

Lifance Exfoliating Body Butter Bar ~ $12.00. Your skin will be left hydrated with the nourishing properties of Cocoa, Shea and Avocado. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells allowing for new skin cell growth and healthy looking skin.

So, sadly this actually went moldy in my shower - I don't know what or how but it went immediately in the garbage! Yikes. But, before that it was a good scrub, it worked well.
Repurchase: No!

Lush Bewitched Bubble Bar ~ $6.95 CAN. Crumble up this fab feline under the tap to conjure up a cloud of fruity bubbles and dark, mysterious waters. One bath and you'll agree: this kitty is absolute purrfection.

I've loved this bubble bar the last couple of years, so I saved one from last year (although, it is released for this year's Lush collection!) It's a fruity scented bubble bar made for the crazy cat lady in me! This bubbles so nicely and you can break this up for as many baths as you'd like!
Repurchase: Yes, next year!

Lamb's Soapworks Oatmeal Honey Bath Bomb ~ $6.00 CAN. This bath bomb contains the healing properties of colloidal oatmeal and may help skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis.

I just won a few products from Lamb's and I'm very excited about the products - this was a super soothing and relaxing bath bomb! Really liked this!
Repurchase: Yes

So, in September I used up 37 products! The work trip for a week really helped my use up some samples, but also I got through quite a few makeup products this month which always makes me feel accomplished with my empties! And, again for September, I'm still doing my 100 Days of Sheet Masks so my Mask Empties will be separate until I'm done that challenge!
