Skincare Sunday - Neal's Yard Remedies "Frankincense Intense Lift Serum" Review

Happy Skincare Sunday! This week I'm reviewing a brand new serum from a brand that is quite new to me - Neal's Yard Remedies.

This serum, the Frankincense Intense Lift Serum, is being released sometime this month - May 2017!

Skincare Sunday - Neal's Yard Remedies "Frankincense Intense Lift Serum" Review

Neal's Yard Remedies started in 1981 with the vision to bring the expertise of apothecaries and a holistic approach to health and beauty to the world. Apothecaries have a deep knowledge of herb-based remedies and one of their distinctive features was the blue bottles of herbs and potions. Neal's Yard Remedies was created because they "thought the time-tested knowledge of apothecaries was being lost and the world could do with a strong dose of what they used to offer."

Skincare Sunday - Neal's Yard Remedies "Frankincense Intense Lift Serum" Review

Neal's Yard Remedies Frankincense Intense Lift Serum ~ $149.00. Frankincense Intense Lift Serum is our breakthrough mindful beauty solution harnessing the ancient power of frankincense. It has been developed by our scientists to release the benefits of frankincense alongside our lifting technology of micro algae, linseed oil and ribose to visibly lift and recontour the skin. Hyaluronic acid also prevents the breakdown of collagen, stimulates elastin production and plumps the skin.

One of the main ingredients of this serum is frankincense (which is new to me in a skincare product so I was excited to try it!) Neal's Yard Remedies has been researching the benefits of frankincense for over 15 years - it is known for its rejuvenating properties. Also, part of the application of the serum involves inhaling the scent prior to applying the serum. Inhaling the aroma, is proven to promote a feeling of wellbeing and relaxation.

I have never seen frankincense in skincare before, but it sounds like a great ingredient so I am looking forward to seeing the benefits on my skin!

This serum also has other beneficial ingredients - hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin and plumps deep line and wrinkles. Is also has micro-algae that boosts skin's natural elasticity. Ribose helps reduce wrinkles and provides a radiant appearance and linseed Oil is rich in omega-3 and helps recontour the face.

This is applied like all other serums - after toners and mists and before moisturizers. This serum has an extra step though! Here is how Neal's Yard Remedies recommend you apply this serum:
"Apply to clean skin morning and evening. Squeeze two drops of serum onto your fingertips and inhale the aroma for a few moments. Then apply to your face and neck with a light, upwards, stroking motion until fully absorbed. For best results use underneath your moisturizer."

This does have a strong medicinal smell to it - I don't mind the smell, but know some people may be thrown off by the scent. I did find it soothing and relaxing as you apply the serum. This is a thicker serum, but actually absorbs really well and quickly in to the skin. This isn't sticky and makes the skin feel great. The scent lingers for a short period but does dissipate as well.

I have been really impressed with this serum - it works really well! It has improved the look of my skin overall! My skin is feeling more rejuvenated and hydrated and looking smoother! I have been really loving the benefits of the frankincense and think if plumping and smoothing your skin is a must, than this is worth a shot. Also, if you are in to holistic ingredients then Neal's Yard Remedies is worth checking out! I love their approach to their ingredients and liked them bringing back the feel of apothecaries.
