Yes, you read that right - this mask is $17 for 1 sheet mask! That's pretty crazy for 1 mask - i'm thinking this better fold my laundry and burp my baby while improving my complexion! But really, even though this is on the expensive side, I HAD to try this mask because it is new to Sephora and of course it is a little weird and crazy!
The firm lover mask is designed to visibly lift and contour skin. The rubber mask wraps the skin to prevent the active ingredients from evaporating allowing the ingredients to penetrate deeper in to the skin and improves skin's elasticity. The mask uses ingredients such as algae, actives, berry complex, salicylic acid, and red seaweed to support supple skin.
Dr. Jart+ has a few rubber masks - firm, hydration, bright and clear! I really picked this type (firm) because it was pink!
This mask is a 2 step mask - the first step is an Intensive Firming Ampoule that you apply directly to the skin, and the follow with the mask.
To use: wash face, tone skin, apply Step 01 the Ampoule to the face and massage in, then apply the mask to the face, leave on for 15-20 minutes, remove mask, massage remaining ampoule in to skin, and complete skincare routine.
The first ampoule step was actually a really weird texture - it wasn't a liquid ampoule (which usually comes in masks). This was almost a jell-o texture and you can see from the picture that it didn't apply very smoothly to the skin. It was actually really hard to scoop out of the package and apply without dropping/wasting it.
This is a nice, thick gel-texture mask - and it actually fit my face really well (it was only big around the tip of my nose). The best part of this is gel mask is that it is PINK! This mask does feel good on the face and the rubber mask has a cooling effect on the skin. The mask adhered well to the skin and lasted for 40 minutes.
When I removed the mask, I was surprised to see the the first step ampoule had not really absorbed in to the skin - there was still chunks of ampoule because the texture was just too thick. So I had to work to get the ampoule absorbed after. It did leave my skin feeling a little greasy after using, and left that feeling for quite a while so this wouldn't be great to use during the day or prior to an event.
This did make my skin look good, but not $17 per use good - the ampoule should have been easier to apply and absorb easier in to my skin, plus for that much money, my skin should be hydrated not greasy.
