Black lipstick is the hottest trend of the Winter 2016/2017 season - it was all over the runways last year! I am not always the boldest when it comes to lipstick, but this was a trend that I really wanted to try before Winter is over!
What better way to try the trend than with an affordable lipstick from Colourpop?!
ColourPop Lippie Stix - "Bull Chic" ~ $5.00. It's black, matte black...The perfect shade for when you party and bullshit.
I usually love the ColourPop Lippie Stix formula - and for $5, I'm really excited to see how this works in black! The ColourPop lippie stix come in different formulas - Bull Chic is described as a matte finish!
I am a fan of the lippie stix packaging and they have a really faint sweet smell to them (which I like!)
Here is a look at Bull Chic swatched in natural light:
This is one swipe and it offers pretty decent coverage on the first layer!
Here is a look at Bull Chic applied to the lips - I did not use a primer or liner with this to give a true swatch! (Of course I would likely use both to wear this out of the house!)
I do like how Bull Chic applied - there was only a few places that required a couple of layers; it covered very well!
What I will say is it is not a matte formula like I was expecting! I have tried many ColourPop matte lippie stix and they dry matte and do not budge once applied. This lippie stix had more of a satin finish to me and did not full dry down matte - the finish remained with a slight sheen, and it was not fully dry so it would likely move around if wiped or smudged!
Despite the fact that it's not a fully matte finish, I actually quite like the way this lipstick looks on! I paired it with a simple grey, cool toned eye to compliment it, but not overpower the look!
Have you tried the black lipstick trend? Any tips on how to pull off the black lip?

I love that this has a satin finish! I think it makes it more wearable than if it were a true matte black. So pretty :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Jen!! I was surprised that I liked this so much! I agree, if it was fully matte it might be a little too harsh!
