July 2015 - Month of Masks in Review (Mask Empties)

Most of you know by now that masks are a huge part of this routine and since I have come to love this routine, I have incorporated so many new masks in to my routine! I love trying different brands and different types of masks!

I started this post a few months back as a way to review more masks on my blog! Hope you enjoy reading about all the masks I have tried! I consider the Month of Masks my Mask Empties post, because I do not feature my sheet masks in my monthly empties post!

July 1
BeauNa Whitening Sheet Mask Apple ~ $1.14. Apple extract contains extracts and vitamin C, effectively brighten the complexion, improve dull tired skin condition. Extracted from the hot springs mineral ingredients can reach the underlying skin lasting moisture. Relieve stress due to the external environment and feel tired skin, after the skin is more smooth and supple.

This mask came in a Mask Genie pouch and had a decent amount of essence and smelled really good! But, the overall fit was weird and it had weird slits in strange places. My skin felt good after but it wasn't anything special.

July 2
The Face Shop Rice Mask ~ $2. A mask sheet that has rice extract keeps the skin spot-free and bright.

I feature this mask on every Month of Masks in review post and I know it will be featured on the next couple as well! This is easily one of my favorite masks to use! Every time I use it, it makes my skin so bright and refreshed! It is a must when your skin just needs a perk-up!

July 5
Skin Food Black Sugar Wash Off Mask ~ $20.90. A leave-on mask with generous moisturizing and effective exfoliating ingredients. Grainy sugar granules slough off excess oil and grime, while a self-heating formula opens up pores, allowing skin to fully absorb the rich minerals and vitamins.

This is an amazing exfoliating mask!! I have featured in a post and you can see the whole review here. Korean skincare recommends a good exfoliation once every two weeks and this is pretty much my go to - it works so well. I don't recommend a deep exfoliation like this more than once per week, but if you don't have an exfoliating mask yet, this is a must! (I got this last year in a Memebox)

July 5
WondeRuci Cacao Brightening Mask ~ 32,000 Won/$28.43 US/$35.87 CAN. Once you've tried this rich, chocolate-y facial mask, you can never go back because this creamy Real Cacao Brightening Mask feels like you're gliding on melted chocolate all over your face. The rich and creamy texture will instantly moisturize, brighten, and soften and skin, for your smoothest skin ever!

This mask is amazing - it smells unreal!! It is just like pouring chocolate syrup all over your face! I featured this on a Skincare Sunday post here. I will admit that this is hard to wash off, but I think this mask is worth it! It makes your skin bright, moisturized, and soft - I love it! (I also got this in a Memebox last year)

July 6
Shara Shara Bebe Foot Hydration Mask ~ $2.26. Includes 9 kinds of herb complex such as jasmine extract and sage extract and urea and salicylic acid to soften rough skin. Offers moisture and nourishment to create smooth and soft baby-like foot.

How cool is this foot mask?! I got this in a Mask Genie pouch and featured this mask on a Monthly Pedicure post that you can see here. This made my feet so soft and hydrated!

July 7
Seatree Steam Essence Mask Sheet ~ $2.00 (10 masks for $20). Shea butter keeps skin in a moist and smooth condition. Natural moisturizer, Shea butter, forms a moisturizing film to keep your skin in a moist condition. Also, it equalizes the balance of skin oil and moisture in order to promote glossiness of your skin.

This mask was very soaked in essence but this mask fit really small. I felt like my whole face wasn't covered (and I usually have the problem where sheet masks are too big on me!) - my skin looked and felt great after using this though! I believe I got this mask in a Mask Genie pouch.

July 8
Aritaum Fresh Essence Mask - Morus Bark ~ $3 (set of 7 for $21). Morus bark consist of excellent properties to enhance whitening effect, removing impurities and residual rough skin.

I also received this mask in a Mask Genie pouch (whoops, there seems to be a trend this month so far...), and I featured this mask on a Wine + Mask Wednesday post that you can check out here. I found this mask fit really big on my face; however, it was well soaked essence and made my skin feel great!!

July 11
Innisfree It's Real Squeeze Mask "Bija" ~ $1.60. Real source mask with refreshing torreya oil to clear your skin!

I have used a lot of the Innisfree Skin Solution masks, but this is my first It's Real Squeeze mask. The Innisfree Skin Solution masks are my favorite mask material to use so I was expecting the same material - I was disappointed to see that it wasn't the same material! It was still a thin mask, had a good texture, and fit well. This mask was soaked in essence and had extra essence in the packet - but it did smell a little weird. My skin did feel nice and clean and refreshed after using this.

July 12
Etude House Collagen Eye Patch ~ $3.99. Put these under eyes to revitalize!
I received this eye mask in a past Beauteque BB Bag and I loooove eye masks! These masks were super soaked in essence - I tried to put them on and had goo and masks sliding down my face. I had to take off the eye masks, squeeze out the extra essence and then re-apply. After that, they were much easier to adhere to my skin. They worked well, but I prefer other brands of eye masks and would likely not repurchase these.

July 13
Nature Republic Shea Butter Hand & Nature Moisture Hand Mask ~ $4. This moisturizing hand mask is good for your everyday lifestyle and you can wear them as your daily gloves. This moisture hand mask "hugs" every inch of your hands and its rich ingredients af vanilla, shea butter, honey, milk, and almond leaves your dry and rough hands hydrated and silky, while rich collagen makes your hands as soft and smooth as a baby's.

I received this mask in a Beauteque Mask Maven subscription, and I featured it on a Manicure Monday post here. This mask smelled really good and made my hands feel super soft! I really liked this!

July 13
Beauty Clinic Mediheal/Mediental - Snail Aquaring SOS Mask ~ $3.20 (10 masks for $31.99). "Dr. Post" Snail Aquaring SOS Mask is a special moisturizing clinic system which intensively manages skin which has been damaged by dry environment containing hydration building ingredients such as Snail Mucus Components. Also it has a synergy ampoule booster which is used specially before applying masks and skin dryness is relieved by using Prunus Mume Fruit Water instead of water.

Restore your skin’s moisture levels with the Dr.Post Snail Aquaring SOS Mask- an intense hydrating mask especially created for dry skin, featuring the best of oriental medicine. This age-old oriental formula is used to provide much needed hydration and balance.

This is my best splurge mask ever! It is a deep moisturizing mask for dry skin! I have done a review post on this before - you can see the full post here. This is a 2 step mask: the first step is an essence and then a mask on top! The mask was soaked in essence and was incredibly soothing and moisturizing - this mask is amazing!!

July 15
GlamGlow Youth-Mud Tinglexfoliate Treatment ~ full size 0.5 oz for $21 or 1.7 oz for $76.00. This mud mask leaves skin noticeably radiant and glowing. It works with the body's natural moisturizing collagen to provide gentle resurfacing exfoliation and helps to leave skin smoother, brighter, and softer. While providing tighter skin texture and tighter pores, it provides a more youthful appearance and absorbs impurities without removing natural oils.

I got this mask as a sample from Sephora and featured this mask in a Wine + Mask Wednesday post - you can view the full review here. This mask is so expensive to buy so I was kind of hoping that I might not like it, but I loved it! It was very exfoliating and rinsed off surprisingly well for a clay mask!

July 17
My Beauty Diary Coix Seed Mask ~ $1.59 (pack of 10 for $15.90) This mask is for brightening and soothing.

I received this mask in a past Mask Maven bag. This mask was soaked in essence - we are talking about it being on my face for 40 minutes and there was still essence left on the mask! This mask fit big (as I find most of My Beauty Diary Mask) but I did like how it made my skin feel.

July 18
Shara Shara Black Source Eye Sunglass ~ $1.81. Offers enriched nourishment to tough and dull eyes to create healthy eyes. Restores vitality to tired eyes to create energetic and bright eyes.

How cute/creepy are these?! (I know this is actually a terrifying picture - sorry!) This eye mask was so different than most of the masks I tried and was very soaked in essence. This did not slip around though and stayed on really well - my eyes looked great after and I really liked this!!

July 19
Leaders Pore-Scaling Black Aqua Mask ~ $3.50.  Change your complexion with this renewing black mask enriched with various nutrients. Gets rid of excessive sebum, dead skin cell buildups, unclean skin, and dull-darkened skin. Formulated with extracts like Volcanic Ash, Sugar Maple Extract, Soybean Extract, and more to purify and tighten enlarged pores.

I love these black masks - I received this is a past Beauteque Mask Maven bag. This mask was well soaked in essence and it fit my face very well! This did well at deep cleaning my pores but it was not a moisturizing mask, so I needed extra lotion after!

July 22
Berrisom Animal Mask "Monkey" ~ $3.41 (set of 7 for $23.88). Nutrition + Elasticity care (Snail).

Seriously, how cute is this mask?! I LOVE these animal masks - I received this one in the 10 Days in the Wild pouch from Mask Genie. I also love snail masks so this is awesome (plus this mask has little ears which is even better!). I thought it did a great job of moisturizing and smoothing my skin!

July 23
Dermal Syn-ake Collagen Essence Mask ~ $0.45 (set of 10 is $4.52). Absorbs quickly for a silkier and firmer skin. Vitamin E and collagen provide nutrients for glowing skin.

Syn-ake is supposed to be a simulated snake venom and helps with firming skin and collagen production! This mask fit waaay too big; it was hard to wear. It had a decent amount of essence, but after 10 minutes all the essence had absorbed and it was dry. It made my skin feel okay, but I would not repurchase given the poor fit.

July 26
Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels ~ 1 set for $2.75 (full size is 8 sets for $30). When you're run down and stressed out, the delicate skin under your eyes really takes a beating, resulting in puffiness, dark circles and premature wrinkling. In just ten minutes, this cooling transdermal gel patch infuses the eye area with highly potent actives and Icelandic glacial water to firm, tone, brighten and reduce the appearance of puffiness and wrinkles. Eyes are revived, soothed and rejuvenated.

I have been looking forward to these - I used some Ipsy points for them! These eye masks adhered so well under my eyes (probably the best out of any eye masks I have tried) - which was great as I used them for multi-masking! While they had a great fit, overall I did not think they delivered on great results - I thought my under eyes were still slightly puffy when I took these off!

July 26
Hanaka Macaron Facial Mask - Canadian Glacial Mud ~ $3.90. Has properties of moisturizing, purifing pores, balancing oil and water, strengthen skin, making the skin elastic and dynamic.

I have been loving every Hanaka product I have tried so far, and this was no exception! I am used to mud masks only lasting about 5-10 minutes so I was surprised when this said it was going to last for 20 minutes! And, it did last that long! It went on nice and smooth and had a cooling effect as it went on. My only problem was that it was hard to rinse off and did take a few times, but this is common with mud masks (also at $4 a mask, I will only use it as a treat mask!). My skin felt amazing after using this!

July 28
My Beauty Diary Luffa Mask ~ $1.99  Luffa, a tropical vine in the cucumber family, is packed with antioxidants that fight free radicals, moisturize, and instantly soothe sensitive or irritated skin. Combined with seaweed extracts, aloe, and a variety of protective amino acids, this essence is ideal for dry or rough complexions. Cosphingo, a patented long-lasting moisturizer derived from seaweed, provides extra hydration for thirsty skin. Extracted via a patented low-temperature technique, the luffa and plant ingredients retain their cooling properties and nourish the skin for a healthy, pearlescent look.

I am not a fan of how big My Beauty Diary masks fit on my face - also this one did not have any tabs to make for a better fit! I will say though, like the other My Beauty Diary Mask I used this month, it had a ton off essence on the mask! I wore this for 30 minutes and there was still extra essence to pat in to my skin! While the fit isn't the best, these are great for when you have a long time to wear them - my suggestion is in a bubble bath!

July 31
The Face Shop Rice Mask ~ $2. A mask sheet that has rice extract keeps the skin spot-free and bright.

I really and try and wear my masks only once a month with no duplicates, but I picked this up as an easy go-to mask and forgot I wore it earlier in the month. Again, easily one of my favorites - I love how this makes my skin look after I use it!

Altogether, in July, I wore 21 masks, which is a little less than I would have liked! Most of them I liked (because really, I'm not hard to please - make my skin feel good and I usually love you!) I like to look back over the month and see what I have used, what I liked and what I disliked!

I hope you enjoy these mask posts, and I recommend you use a mask at least twice a week, but I try and use them a lot more than that for more benefits!
