But, while I was intrigued by some of the releases, I personally felt that it's just too soon for a ton of new palettes because in all seriousness, I still have makeup to play with and try from Christmas! So, I'm trying not to impulse buy all the makeup this year; but, damn of all the releases, Natasha Denona really tempted me with the new Love Palette - it's this gorgeous red, pink and purplish palette and I know the Natasha Denona formula is really nice!
So, I had a new thought that I've seen in videos and posts before and that is "Duping The Vibes" - I had a feeling that I had really similar shadows in my collection and found mostly matching shades (of course, I can't compare the formula because I don't have the Love palette myself!)
So, it took a few palettes to find all the matches for each individual shade; but, you don't need this many get the vibes of the Love palette - chances are you have one or two palettes that could work for a red, pink or purple look. And, if you don't and you are interested in the Love palette, I'm by no way discouraging it - I'm personally just trying to focus on using my makeup collection and avoid multiple duplicates in my collection!
The palettes that I've used from my collection are:
-Pat McGrath Labs MTHRSHP Subversive La Vie En Rose Eyeshadow Palette
-ColourPop Disney Designer Midnight Masquerade Shadow Palette
-ColourPop Main Squeeze Shadow Palette
-Viseart Petit Pro 2 Eyeshadow Palette
-Too Faced Razzle Dazzle Berry Eyeshadow Palette
-ColourPop Disney Designer "It's a Princess Thing" Pressed Powder Shadow Palette
Personally, I found myself reaching for the Pat McGrath, Too Faced and Midnight Masquerade as really giving me the vibes of the Love palette!
Heres a look at the Natasha Denona swatches from the Sephora website, and mine are matched up shadow by shadow beneath so you can see the comparison! You can see that I haven't perfectly matched each shade; but, I got as close as I possibly can and also tried to find similar finishes (I think only one or two are off), but, I think I pulled off the overall vibe pretty well and honestly this look comes off much more pink on the eyes than it looks swatched here.
The shadows I used are:
-Dazzle from the Too Faced Tutti Frutti Razzle Dazzle Berry palette (compared to ND First - a pastel peach and this one is hard to see on the very far left, it's basically my skintone)
-Ray from the ColourPop It's A Princess Thing palette (compared to ND Lifetime - a peach champagne)
-Quasimodo from the ColourPop Midnight Masquerade palette (compared to ND Heartbeat - a warm burgundy and mine was a tad more brown than the ND one)
-Mama Odie from the ColourPop Midnight Masquerade palette (compared to ND Transparent - a nude ivory pink)
-Bad to The Berry from the Too Faced Tutti Frutti Razzle Dazzle Berry palette (compared to ND Trust - a medium purple and this one the formula was a little different and mine is a shimmer)
-Like It's Hot from the ColourPop Main Squeeze palette (compared to Heart - a crimson red)
-Primrose from the Viseart Petit Pro 2 palette (compared to ND Giving coral with purple sparks and mine is a little more pink and shimmery than this picture is showing!)
-Euphoria from the Pat McGrath La Vie En Rose palette (compared to ND Pure Love - a burgundy with a purple blue shift)
-That's My Jam from the Too Faced Tutti Frutti Razzle Dazzle Berry palette (compared to ND Commitment - a deep eggplant)
-Thingamabob from the ColourPop It's A Princess Thing palette (compared to ND Blind - a warm silver)
-Gaston from the ColourPop Midnight Masquerade palette (compared to ND Soul - a dusty rose but their swatches reminded me of a deeper red)
-Berried Treasure from the Too Faced Tutti Frutti Razzle Dazzle Berry palette (compared to ND Passion - a muted wine with pink sparks)
-Frose from the ColourPop Main Squeeze palette (compared to ND Intense - a warm pink)
-Juju from the ColourPop It's A Princess Thing palette (compared to ND Valentine - a baby pink)
-FoxGlove from the Viseart Petit Pro 2 palette (compared to ND Dream - an iris violet)
This shows a bit truer look at the shadows compared to my arm swatches and just how pink the overall feeling is! For this eye look, I only used shadows that I swatched above for duping the vibes!
I started with Dazzle as my base shadow, then I used Jeju as a transition shade and built up and intensify and blow out my my crease with Frose. Then, I applied Like It's Hot to the crease and used it to deepen up the crease (which the red and pink mixed to make this gorgeous hot pink colour!) Then, I applied Gaston to the outer corner and patted it there. The lid is Euphoria all over, with Primrose over top on the inner lid (I loved how these shadows paired together - they made a gorgeous shade!) Then I applied FoxGlove to the lower lashline and buffed it out with Jeju and I finished the look with Mama Odie on the inner corner.
And, to finish the eye look the products I used are:
-Catrice Rock Couture Extreme Volume Mascara
-Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Gel
-ColourPop BFF Liquid Liner in Numero Uno
-Grande Cosmetics GrandaMASCARA Lash Boosting Mascara
-Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Pencil in 4
-Make Up For Ever Aqua XL eye pencil in light purple
-ColourPop No Filter Matte Concealer in Light 14 (for cutting the crease)
And, the lip products I used are:
-ColourPop Lumiere Lip Pencil
-Pat McGrath MatteTrance Lipstick in 1995
-Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipstick 2 in JK Rowling (worn overtop of 1995)
The products I used for the rest of the face are:
-Becca First Light Priming Filter Face Primer
-Wet n Wild Photo Focus Foundation in Nude Ivory
-Covergirl Trublend Undercover Concealer
-Physicians Formula Murumuru Butter Butter Bronzer in Bronzer
-Skindinavia The Makeup Finishing Spray - Bridal
-Natasha Denona Mini Blush & Glow (for blush and highlighter)
-Hourglass Ambient Light Powder in Luminous Light
-Innisfree No Sebum Mineral Powder
And, here is a final look at the Pink Valentine's makeup look - I'm really pleased with this eyeshadow look and I love the pinks, reds and the purples all combined on the eyes. Plus, you don't need Valentine's Day for a bold pink look - do it whenever you feel like it! I left the rest of the face as fairly neutral, so the eyes really pop!
I think the colours blended together really and this look totally gives me Natasha Denona Love vibes without me shelling out $87 CAN on a new palette! I was a little worried when I took pictures of my swatches as some didn't look spot on; but, I think they ended matching really well. I actually love that I was able to get that many similarities from inside my collection - it's certainly going to make me double think new palette purchases and to look through what I already have first!
Do you guys have a go-to Valentine's makeup look?! And also, please let me know what you think of the Duping The Vibes style post and if you like I will try it again - any new palettes I should try this with?!
