Jaclyn Cosmetics Accent Light Highlighter Palette - "The Flash"

I know in the world of controversial beauty influencers, Jaclyn Hill is pretty high up there; but, don't come at me - I still like Jaclyn Hill, watch her videos and am really hoping for her brand to be good! (Don't come at me if you don't agree - I am totally open to listening to everyone's opinions and respect if you feel different than me). But, like her or not, I feel think she really knows makeup and should release some high quality products.

I purchased this product myself

Now, I know that her first lipstick release from her brand, Jaclyn Cosmetics, was a total nightmare. I didn't purchase the lipsticks myself, so I wasn't personally impacted by the release and everything that went down, so my thoughts might be a little different from those who were directly affected. But, when Jaclyn announced that she was coming out with a highlighter line as the next release I was intrigued - Jaclyn is basically the queen of highlighters so it had to be good, right?!

I didn't buy them on the very first release, and instead asked my husband to pick them up for me at a later date for a Christmas present. I know some people are mad that she released a limited quantity and then re-released more a couple of weeks later. Can you blame her?! People went nuts over her first release, so it would make sense to feel out the response I think (I don't think that only the brand is always to blame - if someone can't control their impulse to buy something over that limited edition hype, then that's on them too). But, these were announced as limited edition holiday release - there was no announcement when they would become unavailable, but I have a feeling the brand will announce when they are discontinued or stock is low.

The full line of highlighters released included The Accent Light Highlighter palette - a baked pressed formula in 2 different shades for lighter and darker skin, The Beaming Light Loose Highlighter - 5 shades of a super glowy loose highlighter, and The Mood Light Luminous Power - a light glowy loose powder for all over, available in 5 shades. Jaclyn also released 3 corresponding brushes, 1 for each formula.

I was personally interested in just the pressed formula - I don't typically use a loose highlighter formula. And, the Accent Light Highlighter palettes are a baked formula made in Italy, which just sounded very luxe to me!

Jaclyn Cosmetics Accent Light Highlighter Palette - "The Flash"

Jaclyn Cosmetics Accent Light Palette in "The Flash" ~ $49.00 US. These palettes of super creamy highlighters give you light with every swipe. Each palette features four shimmering, buildable shades that apply seamlessly onto skin, so you’ll be glowing from any angle. Our Accent Light highlighters are made using a proprietary filling process, which creates unique, one-of-a-kind patterns in every pan. All the shades will give you the same beautiful highlight, but each one is like an original work of art.

Each palette ends up looking a little different based on the baking process of the highlighters - the shades are really gorgeous in person and I thought that they had a good variety of shades in this palette. (I also love that the shade names are printed right there so you can actually see them!)

The packaging is very well done I think - it is a little on the thicker side; but, it feels very substantial and was worth the cost of what you paid. The thickness is fine for how I store my face palettes - it fit in a letter organizer no problem. The whole inside is mirrored with a full high-quality mirror on one side. The only thing that felt a little unnecessary was the Jaclyn printing on the inside - it might have looked a little cleaner just with the highlighters centred on the inside.

The shades included in the palette are:

Gleam ~ lustrous pearl
Iced ~ lustrous iced champagne
Spark$ ~ lustrous frosted gold
Mesmerized - lustrous soft peach

I thought these shades were so pretty - they were very glowy and really popped when applied. I thought that Iced, Spark$, and Mesmerized were soft and smooth and applied really nicely. I only noticed a slight difference with Gleam and thought it was a little drier (and maybe chalkier) than the others - it didn't apply as smooth on the cheeks and tended to look a little patchy when applied. The rest all looked really nice on the cheeks are wore well!

Here is a look at Gleam on - it described as a pearl colour, this certainly gave that finish. I just felt it applied a little patchy and not as smoothly as I would have liked. This was the very first shade I used and I actually wasn't impressed (I was a little worried the whole palette would be disappointing and luckily that is not the case!)

Here is Iced on - I was a little surprised that it looked quite different from in the pan on my cheeks, but it certainly matched it's name! Holy shit was this pigmented and glowy - it was so bright on, but applied so smoothly. It did fade a little as it wore (which wasn't a bad thing with how bright this was!).

Jaclyn Cosmetics Accent Light Highlighter Palette - "The Flash"

Here is Spark$ on - it feels like a pretty true frosted gold shade and I thought it was really pretty! It wasn't as in your face as Iced, but still had a glowy and shimmery finish! I love a nice gold finish and this looked really nice.

And this is Mesmerized on - this felt like the most me shade, a shimmery peachy gold finish. It is still a very bold highlighter but felt nice and wearable! It was very pretty and was certainly the one I reached for the most over the month I've been trying these!

I only watched some first impression videos on these, and because Jaclyn's first launch was a flop, I wanted to make sure I tried everything thoroughly before giving my thoughts. And, I think one of the things those videos missed was wear time - I think these are best for an occasion or event that you need them to shine for. Think a couple really solid hours of wear from them before they start to fade. And not that this is uncommon in makeup, just something I noticed - I'm typically gone from home for about 10 hours for my work day and they were basically gone by the time I got home. I don't think this is a terrible thing - they are still a really pretty highlight shade and I loved using them and will continue to get lots of use out of them, just thought it was worth noting if you are expecting a super glowy highlight for 10 hours, this won't last as long as that! (This picture is Iced after about 9 hours of wear so you can see the level of glow on the cheeks - this is probably the boldest highlighter, and you can see that it still looks glowy but just on more subdued level!)

I do think if you've been interested in trying this formula, you will likely enjoy it - it's pretty and the shades are nice (even if one didn't work amazing for me). I'm going to keep an eye on what Jaclyn Cosmetics releases in the future, and while I won't jump at every launch, I'm hoping for some good products.

This post felt a bit rambly, but I'm always a little nervous talking about products with a little controversy and how people will react, so I wanted to make sure to give my most accurate information!

What did you think of this release? Something you are interested in?
