August 2019 - Monthly Empties

Time for a look at my August Beauty Empties:

August 2019 - Monthly Empties
Some products may have been received as PR samples - this post contains affiliate links

Revlon ColorStay Full Cover Foundation in 150 Buff ~ $20.99 CAN. Revlon ColorStay Full Cover Foundation provides an amazing, full coverage perfected look that lasts all day long.

I fell in love pretty instantly with this foundation - it made my March Favourites and you can see a full look at this product on me here! It's a very neat texture - it almost feels whipped, or as Revlon refers to it as velvet. It applies really softly and nicely; but, dries down nicely and doesn't stay tacky at all and it wears all day - well around 10 hours without breaking up on my combo skin! I have noticed it can disappear from the nose a touch, so I'm careful with my powder; but, I loved the coverage of this. I really like this foundation!
Repurchase: Yes

Wet n Wild Primer Water ~ $4.99 CAN. Prep, set and refresh makeup throughout the day.

This came in the Flights of Fancy Wet n Wild collection and I liked it. I think this has since been reformulated a little bit, but I thought this was a good primer and refresher - I can't really speak to this helping extend the wear of makeup. This didn't have a super fine mist, so it did leave some droplets on my face towards the end, so I didn't use it as a setting spray.
Repurchase: Maybe!

Burt's Bees Nourishing Mascara in "Classic Black" ~ $13.99 CAN. Our 100% Natural Nourishing Mascara lengthens and defines lashes.

I actually liked this formula - it added length and definition without clumping lashes at all! It didn't flake or smudge - it wasn't too wet or too dry of a formula and it looked really nice on the lashes! I prefer a little bit of a fuller look most days; but, this worked well. If you want to see it on, you can see my full face of Burt's Bees makeup here!
Repurchase: Maybe

Ulta Full Coverage Liquid Concealer in "Light Cool" ~ $11.88 CAN. This lightweight, creamy and super blend-able formula offers full coverage, flawless matte finish.

I used this concealer all up and thought it was just okay - if you want to see it, I've featured it in a few looks including this one. I thought it was too thick of a formula and didn't blend out the best, but it did look nice while I was wearing it.
Repurchase: Not likely

Burt's Bees Strawberry Lip Balm in Strawberry ~ $4.79 CAN. Infused with powerful fruit extracts and Beeswax to richly moisturize and soften lips, the nourishing oils and butters will make your lips juicy, happy and healthy.

I love Burt's Bees lip balm and the strawberry one is rich and nourishing on the lips.
Repurchase: Probably (although I prefer the Pomegranate for the tint in it)

Dior Backstage Face and Body in 2 Neutral ~ sample size (full size is $53.00 CAN). A foundation for the face and body in 40 shades with a natural, matte finish and medium, buildable coverage that's waterproof and sweat-resistant.

There is a reason I chose to wear this for my Pride look at for a walk in the parade! This is a good formula and it wore really well. I'm not sure if it's my favourite formula ever as I could have used a touch more coverage, but I liked the longevity of it!
Repurchase: I might

Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge ~ $11.51 CAN. Versatile 3 in 1 design evenly blends makeup for a smooth, enhanced finish.

I'm really late to the game on trying this sponge because this is the first time I tried the Real Techniques sponge and it was just okay. I thought it was a little softer than the beauty blender - I prefer a bit of a stiffer sponge; but, this was worked and did the trick.
Repurchase: Perhaps

August 2019 - Monthly Empties

Neutrogena Make-Up Removing Cleansing Wipes Night Calming Duo ~ $20.99 CAN for 2 packs of wipes. Gently and effectively dissolve all traces of dirt, oil and make-up from your face.

This is the first pack in a pack of 2; but, these "night calming" wipes apparently have a unique scent to help you unwind - I really didn't notice a scent; but, these worked well and removed makeup.
Repurchase: Yes, they worked well

Cosrx Acne Pimple Master Patch ~ $7.25 CAN (prices vary by website). Acne Pimple Master Patch heals acne, blemishes and prevents future breakouts quickly.

These are a holy grail in my collection - these made my favorites all the way back in September 2015! These clear up acne so well and so quickly!
Repurchase: Yes!

Omorovicza Moor Cream Cleanser ~ travel size shown (full size is $110.64 CAN). A cream cleanser that leaves your skin feeling instantly clean, fresh and soft.

This was a nice muddy cleanser - it did make my skin feel super clean. It wasn't super drying, but it wasn't a formula that I liked to use too often just as it felt like it was too strong of a cleaner. It's a good deep cleanse a couple of times a week. But, damn this is a crazy expensive cleanser.
Repurchase: Probably not at that price point!

The Face Shop Brightening Cleansing Oil with prune ~ $?

This is an older cleansing oil, so it's not available anymore. This cleanser was good - I always use an oil or balm cleanser as my first cleansing step in the evening and this worked well to remove makeup.
Repurchase: No can do

Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel ~ $55.00 CAN. A soap-free cleanser that gently removes impurities, without disturbing the skin’s natural moisture balance.

This was a great, really gentle cleanser - I always use a light gel for my morning cleanser and sometimes as my second cleanser in the evening. This was really effective.
Repurchase: Yes, I would

Clinique Pep-Start HydroBlur Moisturizer ~ sample shown (full size is $40.00 CAN). A lightweight, 24/7 hydrator that provides matte moisturization, instantly blurs imperfections, and preps for makeup.

This moisturizer was good - it is meant for normal to oily skin, so it's perfect for my skin type. I did like the blurring effect and thought it was good at mattifiying and prepping the skin.
Repurchase: Maybe!

Tatcha The Satin Skin Mist ~ sample shown (full size is $62.00 CAN). An oil-free, liquid powder face mist with Okinawa clay for fresh, satiny smooth skin without added shine—shake to activate clay.

I was really excited for this mist - I liked the dewy mist; but, it was super dewy, so I like the idea of a more matte spray! But, I actually didn't really like this - it left droplet marks on my face and it just didn't work well for me.
Repurchase: No

August 2019 - Monthly Empties

Living Proof Restore Perfecting Spray ~ $38.00 CAN for full size (also available in mini size for $21.00 CAN). A featherweight leave-in formula that delivers all the benefits dry, damaged hair needs to look and feel healthier.

This has been my go to hair product for the whole of 2018 - it even made my Best of Beauty 2018! This really makes my hair super smooth, detangled, and soft. This is light and doesn't weigh down my hair at all; but, makes my hair look really nice! I really like this! It is quite expensive so I'm going to try a few different leave ins before I repurchase!

Repurchase: Yes I will

Sol De Janeiro Brazilian Bum Bum Cream ~ sample shown (full size is $59.00 CAN and mini size is $27.00 CAN). A fast-absorbing body cream that helps tighten and smooth the look of skin.

This is really good body lotion, but it's so expensive. It's really thick and nourishing and very heavily scented. I love the scent - a pistachio, vanilla, caramel scented mixture, but my husband hates how strong it is (and I tend to agree, I wish the scent would absorb a little more!)
Repurchase: Nah..

BeeKind Shower Gel ~ sample size featured (full size is 8oz/236 ml for $19). This richly foaming cleanser comes infused with nourishing honey, organic calendula, and not a small amount of eco-friendly good karma.

This shower gel smells really great and works well. It also donates some money to causes that help honeybees, which is really great! I wish it was easier to find!
Repurchase: I would consider it!

Lush Charity Pot ~ $7.95 CAN for 50g. This gorgeous self-preserving body lotion does a lot of good—and not just for your skin! With a delicately floral perfume of ylang ylang and rosewood oils in a hydrating cocoa butter base, Charity Pot will leave your skin subtly perfumed and touchably soft.

Lush donates 100% of the price (minus the taxes) to small grassroots organizations working in the areas of human rights, animal protection and environmental justice and they are always switching up their charities - this specific pot went to the Pan African Sanctuary Alliance that works on rescuing apes and monkeys and stopping illegal wildlife trafficking. The lotion itself is a really lovely, light scented lotion too that is really moisturizing.
Repurchase: Yes!

Softsoap Exfoliating Body Wash - Body Scrub Coconut Butter ~ $4.68 CAN. With crushed coconut & jojoba butter extracts, this body wash is designed to gently exfoliate and retain your skins natural moisture leaving you with soft, smooth feeling skin.

These bottles are huge and take so long to go through - this is a gentle body scrub that smells really good! I actually like this!
Repurchase: I already have a backup

Exact Shave Gel Dry Skin ~ $2.99 CAN.

This is a shave gel - nothing miraculous or crazy. It worked!
Repurchase: Sure

August 2019 - Monthly Empties

Q-Tips Cotton Swaps ~ $2.37 for 170.

Q-tips are a must have - this small pack stays in my beauty room mainly for nail clean ups.
Repurchase: Yes

Joe Fresh Cotton Pads ~ $2.00 CAN.

I always say that these are just good; but, once you use a really crappy cotton pad, you realize that these ones are actually really good! Really good! These ones work well for my face and nails.
Repurchase: Yes

Crest ProHealth Advanced Rinse ~ $7.99.

This is the best mouthwash ever - I hate mouthwashing (is that okay to admit here?!) but this one doesn't taste quite as terrible burning as the rest!
Repurchase: Yes

Acuvue Oasys x 2 ~ $57.00 each for a 12 pack.

These are my go-to contacts - my eyes are usually pretty dry and these work well to keep them hydrated during the day!
Repurchase: Yep!

Marvis Toothpaste x3 in Aquatic Mint, Whitening Mint and Licorice Mint ~ $35.00 CAN for 7 mini toothpastes in a flavour collection.

I love Marvis toothpaste - the Aquatic mint flavour easily made my monthly favorites in April and I bought this flavour set to try the other types! I loooved to Licorice Mint and the Whitening Mint too! So good!
Repurchase: Yes

Crest Scope Minibrush - set of 4 ~ $?

I usually pick these up when I'm out grocery shopping and just throw them in my purse for when I need to quickly brush my teeth - they work well.
Repurchase: Yup

Alcon Tears Naturale II ~ $10.99 CAN. For relief of burning eyes caused by dryness, weather, indoor environments and minor eye irritations.

These are the best eye drops - I sadly only had to get rid of these ones because I had an eye infection and these touched my eyes.
Repurchase: Already have

Clear Care Plus Cleaning and Disinfecting Solution ~ $19.97 CAN. Not only does CLEAR CARE® PLUS Cleaning and Disinfecting Solution clean and disinfect your contact lenses with the bubbling power of hydrogen peroxide, it also surrounds your lenses with long-lasting moisture.

This is a great contact solution - I switched to a hydrogen peroxide solution over a year ago (with only one mishap of not letting it rinse long enough). This is at least a 6 hour solution; but, it's great! Much better at cleaning than regular solutions!
Repurchase: Yes!

Quo Nail Polish Remover Regular ~ $4.29 CAN. Our advanced and uniquely formulated nail polish remover quickly and effectively removes nail polish without leaving nails feeling brittle or dry.

This was nail polish remover - it was pretty basic. It worked well.
Repurchase: Yes

August 2019 - Monthly Empties

Coppertone Kids Sunscreen Lotion ~ $9.97 CAN. Hypoallergenic. Non-irritating.

This is a good kids screen - no complaints from me.
Repurchase: Yes

Coppertone Sunscreen Lotion SPF30 ~ $9.97 CAN. Lightweight lotion absorbs quickly.

Sunscreen - this one works well. My husband and teenager use this all the time and I use this as a body sunscreen often too.
Repurchase: Yes

Innisfree Green Tea Cleansing Oil ~ sample (full size is $27.66 CAN). This watery cleansing oil uses saponin, a natural cleanser derived from Jeju green tea roots mildly cleanse skin without stripping off moisture.

This was a fine cleansing oil - no concerns. I thought it worked well to remove my makeup.
Repurchase: Perhaps

Sunday Riley Good Genes All-In One Lactic Acid Treatment ~ sample shown (full size is $138.00 CAN). A clarifying, line smoothing lactic acid treatment.

I've heard really good things about this and got a couple of uses of this sample by using just a little. I certainly think lactic acid has a benefit for the skin, this was just hard to see long term benefits with this from a little sample.
Repurchase: This is so expensive

Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Eye Cream ~ sample shown (full size is $59.00 CAN). An illuminating antioxidant eye cream that delivers all-day hydration for a youthful, dewy glow.

This was a good eye cream - I thought it was smooth and hydrating on the under eyes and was refreshing!
Repurchase: I might, I have more samples

Mad Hippie Cream Cleanser ~ sample shown (full size is $20.99 CAN). This Mad Hippie mildly acidic cream cleanser is pH perfection, supporting the skin's natural balance of protective oils.

This was a good cleanser - I like cream cleansers and they are usually my morning go-to. This worked fine.
Repurchase: Potentially

Nivea Nourishing In-Shower Body Milk ~ sample shown (full size is $6.47 CAN). It's uniquely formulated to absorb into wet skin and effectively moisturize in seconds so it can be rinsed right off, and you can dress immediately!

This was really good and nourishing in the shower - it has almond oil in it and it smells amazing!
Repurchase: I would, yes

Verb Hydrating Conditioner ~ sample (full size is $11.00 - $48.00 CAN). Formulated to wash away clean, it delivers intense moisture and natural shine to hair.

I thought this was a good little duo - it didn't give me 2 days without dry shampoo and looked greasy on the second day (but that's pretty normal), I thought this was hydrating so it worked that way.
Repurchase: Mmmm... probably not

Garnier Whole Blends Oat Delicacy Gentle Shampoo ~ sample shown (full size is $4.96 CAN). With Oat Milk & Rice Cream extracts - Paraben Free.

Garnier Whole Blends Oat Delicacy Conditioner ~ sample shown (full size is $4.96 CAN). Our gentle, cocooning formula blooms with a powdery-soft fragrance of oat milk & rice cream, bringing to life our wholesome, nourishing care for weightless hair.

This was a fine duo of shampoo and conditioner - it worked fine for me and I thought it smelled really good.
Repurchase: Mmmm.. not sure

So, in August I used 43 products, which is a great amount - always lots of samples as I'm travelling around in the Summer! And, I'm always impressed when I use a ton of makeup products!
