Wet n Wild is a cruelty free, affordable brand and I have been impressed with the products I have tried from them! I just tried an eyeshadow palette recently from the brand for the first time and was really impressed with the quality (I have scooped up a few more I was so impressed). I also tried their whole Unicorn collection last year and was super impressed with the highlighters I tried!
In addition to being cruelty free, Wet n Wild is also donating a portion of the sales of this collection box to the Los Angeles Audubon Society, a nonprofit organization whose mission is to protect birds and their habitats. These funds will benefit a habitat restoration project for the Allen’s Hummingbird, an endangered California native.
Wet n Wild Flights of Fancy Summer Limited Edition Collection Box ~ $34.99 US. Soar into summer with a curated collection inspired by the feathers of the Allen’s and Costa hummingbirds. Eyes feature a range of purples, blues, and greens for a dramatic shimmering look. Lips are glossed in reds, pinks, and corals for a vibrant summer pout. Cheeks are flushed in a combination of vivid pigments for a unique summer glow. Keep skin refreshed this summer.
I picked up the whole boxed Flights of Fancy set as it’s such a good deal and has almost the whole collection in it! I think there is 1 additional shade of lipgloss and eyeliner, 1 more type of lip scrub and a brush; but, otherwise the whole collection is in this box! Everything is available for sale individually so you can also pick and chose what you would like to try! In addition to the makeup box, they also released a boxed set of Flights of Fancy nail polishes - these weren’t able to be shipped to Canada or I would have picked them up also!
This line is limited edition, so if you are interested in anything, make sure you pick it up soon. I do think some of the new products are being tested for feedback (primer water, lip scrub), so if people like them, they will likely come out with something similar in their permanent line, but no guarantees!
This collection is supposed to be available in stores in Canada; but, I never have luck finding Wet n Wild eyeshadows and their newer collections near me! Keep your eyes open at your local Rexall or Loblaws (I drove around a ton trying to find their past eyeshadow releases and just decided to pay the shipping rates through the Wet n Wild website - it’s not cheap to ship to Canada). But, this was one of those collections that I had to have! I was not leaving it up to chance to see what I could find in stores!
There are 3 eyeshadow quads in this collection - Stop Ruffling My Feathers, Flock Party and Hasta La Costa Baby. All three quads contain 3 shimmers and 1 matte shadow. These retail for $2.99 US individually. I love that the shadows have where you should use them written in the shadow - of course, you can switch these up and mix and match; but, if you are just getting started, I think it’s really helpful!
I know the matte shadows all have a great formula - they go on super smooth and are easy to blend. I have heard mixed reviews about the Wet n Wild shimmer shadows as they tend to be a little more subtle in pigmentation. I personally did not find that to be the case with these shadows; however, it may have something to do with the application. These shimmers aren’t great for applying in a sweeping or blending/windshield wiper motion - they are best patted on, and really look amazing when used with a wet brush (I always use Mac Fix +).
Stop Ruffling My Feathers - Color Icon Eyeshadow Quad
This is a gorgeous quad - with a pinky lid shade and a bronzey orange crease shade. I generally wouldn't reach for these 2 shades together; but, I can't wait to play with it!
Flock Party - Color Icon Eyeshadow Quad
This is such a great mix of shades too - love the gold for the crease and this gorgeous pink for all over the lid! Love this quad so much!
Hasta La Casta Baby - Color Icon Eyeshadow Quad
What a stunning quad - this purple and teal are so pretty and pigmented!
There are also 3 Baked Blushes in this collection - Dare To Soar, Hummingbird Hype, and Don't Flutter Yourself. They have a great little range between the 3 shades and retail for $4.99 US. I have never tried a Wet n Wild blush before so I was excited to have a new product to me in the set!
The blushes are all gorgeous - they apply really smoothly and have great pigmentation that is buildable and doesn’t go on to stark or dark. These are shimmery blushes though, so if you are in to a more matte look, you may not love these. I generally prefer a more matte blush and I really like these. I think it adds a nice glow to the cheeks without looking glittery.
Also, for me Hummingbird Hype can be used as a highlighter too (actually even Don't Flutter Yourself applied light enough could be a highlighter)! Personally, I think it’s a great blush line for Summertime, thus perfect for this collection!
I was excited to see that there were some brand new products in the Wet n Wild range included in this collection as well - they have come out with a Primer Water Spray that retails for $4.99 US. This is meant to prep, set and refresh makeup throughout the day.
This Primer Water does contain alcohol, so just be aware if you skin is sensitive to that. Personally, I don’t find with the amount of this product I used that it was anything I felt or noticed with my skin. I did like this - I have only use it a couple of times; but, I’m happy with it so far!
Also, new to the Wet n Wild product range is the Perfect Pout Lip Scrub! This is called Pecker Up and it retails for $3.99 US. I love a good lip scrub and I love the artificial watermelon scent! This reminds me of the Lush lip scrubs and I love those!
This is a good texture - a tad on the crumbly side when you apply; but, I dislike when my lip scrub feels too oily. I like a crumbly scrub that is easy to rub in and leaves no residue when it is wiped off so I can go in with a lip product right away!
There is also a second scent that was introduced as part of this collection as well and it is Citrus Elixir.
There was 3 Megaliner Liquid Eyeliners released in the Flights of Fancy collection and 2 that were in the Collection Box - these retail for $2.99 US. These are a little potted liquid eyeliner with a brush tip. I personally prefer a felt tip liner (I'm probably in the minority here).
Winged n' Wild is a very dark green matte liner, and Gilded Wings is a metallic gold liner. The liner that isn't in this box is You Are My Wingman and it is a light matte pink. These are okay - for me a brush tip is a little harder to apply so I'm not the greatest at creating wings with these.
This set also included 4 Color Icon Lip Glosses that retail for $3.99 US. I have to so that I love this packaging - the hummingbirds and pattern are so pretty! I wish this packaging could have been incorporated in a few more products in this collection!
The shades swatched from top to bottom are: Featherless, Shut the Pluck Up, Pout of Paradise, and Fly Gal. There is one more lipgloss in this set that wasn't included in the box and it is Love Bird Affair and it is a pretty red gloss!
This is Pout of Paradise up close - it is such a unique shade and it is perfect and bright for Summer! I thought the formula was nice. It went on smooth and soft and wasn't too sticky or thick.
And, I created a whole makeup look with this collection:
For this look I have the whole Hasta La Casta Baby eyeshadow quad on the eyes, Megaliner liquid eyeliner in Winged 'n Wild, Dare to Soar blush, Hummingbird Hype blush as a highlighter, the Color Icon Lipgloss in Featherless, and I have the Primer Water Spray on as the base.
Here is a closeup of the whole eye look - I used the Hasta La Casta Baby quad exactly as it is instructed in the pan. These shadows are gorgeous and apply better when patted in - I also have the dark green Megaliner on.
The other products I used to complete this look are:
-Foundation: Maison Jacynthe Fluide De Teint/Fluid Complexion in 03 Cream
-Concealer: Tarte Aquacealer Concealer in Light Medium
-Powder: NYX HD Finishing Powder in "Banana"
-Bronzer: Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer
-Brows: Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Brow Mousse
-Tightliner: Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Pencil Waterproof Eyeliner in Lilac
-Shadow Primer: Elizabeth Mott Thank Me Later Eyeshadow Primer
-Eyelashes: Esqido lashes in BFF
Overall, I'm really happy with this collection! The inspiration is lovely and all the shades are gorgeous and perfect for Summer! I am totally impressed with the quality of the Wet n Wild products that I have tried - really great quality, not just for the drugstore; but, in general!
What do you guys think about this collection?
That's a really pretty collection! I LOVE the eye look you did! I need to work my way up to wearing those types of colours cause I always go for neutral shades, but LOVE teals and purples!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great way to try these colours - so affordable! And, I always tend to shy away from colour too but love it so much when I do something bright!
