Five on Saturday - July 20, 2019

Happy Saturday everyone! I hope you all have had a great week! I'm happy to be home and settled for this whole week and just getting back in to a regular routine!

It's time for a look at my Summer 2019 Reading List! I always like to pick a variety of books to read over the holidays (although, if I'm honest with myself I don't always get through them all), so I have a variety of humour and love stories to the magical and deep - exactly the mixture of books I like! If you have GoodReads and want to connect - you can find me here! (I love seeing what everyone is reading and find something new for myself!)

So, what I'm planning on reading this Summer is:
  • On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong ~ described as one of the most anticipated books of 2019, Ocean Vuong is a poet and this is his first novel. This is a story from a son to a mother who cannot read, it is a "shattering portrait of a family, a first love, and the redemptive power of storytelling". It sounds like a beautifully written, heart wrenching story!
  • Hazel & Holly by Sara C. Snider ~ this is a magical book about witches and warlocks and a pair of sisters who are on a quest to stop their father from using necromancy to trap their mother's soul. It sounds like a dark, intriguing, magical story!
  • Bunny by Mona Awad ~ this is a story about a girl going off to a Masters program at an elite University and couldn't be more different than a clique that all call each other Bunny. Somehow, she gets sucked in to this world and we'll see from there! Mony Awad is a bit of a different writer and no one can really explain this story, so I think it's going to be a crazy, weird read!
  • Rich People Problems by Kevin Kwan ~ this is the 3rd book in the Crazy Rich Asians series and I just love them! They are hilarious and a light-hearted read that sweep you away in to this absolutely crazy world!
  • The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman ~ this is a book about a couple who cannot have children, who find an orphaned child by chance and raise it as their own; but, eventually their secrets and choices are revealed. This sounds heartbreaking and I've had this in my collection for quite a while waiting to read!
Do you have a Summer reading list? Let me know what's on your list!

TWO

Okay, there is this dress that a whole group of us have been buying together and it looks so great on EVERYONE - it's actually like the Sisterhood of the Travelling Dress! And, it's from Aerie and on sale right now for $15.98 CAN!

First, you need to check out this amazing Twitter thread and see it on this group of lovely women! And, since it looks amazing on everyone, if you want to check it out you can find the dress here! (Also, that's the striped dress, but you can type in "knot dress" and find it in grey, olive and yellow too!)

Here is the little haul I picked up from Aerie including the grey Cutout Knot Dress (I also picked it up in green; but, I accidentally bought a size too big!) And, I've picked up a t-shirt too. But update, I've just put in another order and bought the dress in green and striped too! Be prepared for a ton of these dresses because I LOVE THEM!

THREE

Since I always share my purchases in my Monthly Haul post, I thought I'd share these two hair products because my husband actually picked both of these up for me! We were out and about on a trip and for a wedding and I didn't have hairspray or dry shampoo, so I needed some! I'm not actually sure if the Rusk product is a hairspray; but, it worked!

FOUR

Okay you guys, have you tried Hardbite Vegetable Chips?! They are to die for - they are so delicious! I've tried the parsnip, carrot, beet and sweet potato chips and they are so good! The Dill Carrot chips are a must try! I get mine at Superstore and I pick them up all the time! And, I didn't know that they were Canadian! Bonus!

FIVE

Here's a few weeks of my past Palettes of the Week! I've used the Natasha Denona Mini Nude palette and I love it - you can see my full review, swatches and look here! Then, I used the Viseart Petit Pro Soleil palette - another love, you can see my full thoughts, swatches and look here! Then, I used the ColourPop Element of Surprise palette - I really enjoyed this before, but the colours pull to pink and purple on me in a not nice way - it's not one of my most amazing; but, you can see a nail look, eye look and swatches of this palette here! And, then I used the Storybook Witchcraft and Wizardry palette - another old love and it's such an easy to use, good neutral with a pop of bold palette, you can see an old review and 4 Harry Potter house school looks on this palette here!

I hope you all have an amazing weekend!

  2. I want that dress! I went to AEO this past weekend, but they didn't carry the Aerie line. I would have to go to the other end of the city for that. I may just have to order online.
